With the figure erasing the portal out of existence, Jason and Noah turned to the elderly men in the hall, hoping for them to come up with a solution to get past the beast without waking it up, and to their surprise, there was no plan other than sneaking their way through. Hearing this plan of theirs, Jason could not help but look at them like a bunch of suicide freaks since they were just planning on throwing their lives away.
"What are we going to do?" asked Noah, who noticed the plan's success rate was not high.
"What else can we do other than to follow from behind? Since there is no way we are going to be of much help to them, it is better we stay at the back" replied Jason.
Thinking about what he said, Noah decided to follow up with the plan, since if their plan to sneak into the door failed, they could always turn back. Waiting for the elderly ones to prepare before they set out as they walked quietly towards the door, making sure not to make too much noise to wake the beast, the crowd of eighteen made their way slowly toward the door.
Before long, they were already beside the beast. Hearing the sound of its breathing was like actually standing before it and they began to fear for their lives as they continued walking without holding back and just when they thought they had successfully passed the beast, they suddenly heard the sound of a low roar coming from the beast.
When they turned around, they were surprised to see that the breast was looking down on them like it had been expecting them all this while.
"run"!!!!
Yelled someone as he quickly charged toward the door before he would get eaten by the beast. Anyhow, the beast was lying in front of the door, but it doesn't mean the door was actually behind. There is still some distance before one can get to it.
There was an uproar after the first person started running, and the rest followed suit. Jason and Noah did not even waste any more time as they also began to run toward the door in fear.
Seeing the humans running for their lives, the beast let out a mighty roar before giving chase. It didn't take much time to get to one of its meals as it simply swiped its claw around to grab the human before throwing him into its mouth. The human let out a painful scream before the beast closed its mouth. Seeing their comrade being eaten straight away by the beast, they didn't hesitate to go all out as they increased their speed, making sure they got to the door on time, but things didn't seem to go as they planned as more people began to get caught by the beast before being eaten. In no less than three minutes, six people had already been eaten.
"Oh no, the beast is getting closer" yelled someone who just turned around to see if the beast had slowed down since it had eaten so much, but rather, the beast was closing the gap between them.
"We are almost there, just a little further, and we will be able to make it through the portal" replied the elderly man leading them suddenly spoke up.
With the new encouraging word from him, their hope began to ignite again as they started rushing toward the door while ignoring the sole existence of the beast. Just when they were running, more people began to get taken by the beast until there were only seven left and the door was just about ten away from the door, and it was actually around this time the beast began to close the distance.
Jason and Noah had tried to stay out of the beast raider, or it could be that the beast didn't see them as food as it only focused on the elderly men. But while they were running toward the door, Jason accidentally stepped on a stone, which caused him to stumble and fall.
The beast that was so focused on the elderly men suddenly slowed down as it switched its target to Jason as it opened its mouth ready to bite down on him, but just when its fangs were about an inch from him, Noah quickly pushed him out of the way, which resulted in the beast biting his left wrist off as both him and Noah fell to the side.
"Ahhh, that hurts" screamed Noah in pain as he rolled to the side.
With no time to sit and treat the wound, Jason quickly picks him up as they continue to run with their lives on the line while the beast continues to give chase. After losing his wrist, Noah looks like someone who is going to lose his sanity as he has never felt this level of pain before.
The elderly men didn't bother worrying about the two kids as they quickly went through the door while leaving them behind.
"Hold on a little while Noah, we are almost there" said Jason, as he informed Noah whose eyes were half closed.
He could not help but wonder whether Noah would sacrifice himself for him, since he is very timid, but still Jason didn't say anything as they continued to run. The beast was already behind them and was about to bite down on the two of them, but just when it wanted to, they were already before the door and the beast had to give up the chase.
Watching the beast return with a confused look on his face, Jason could not help but speak out.
"What just happened?"
"I think we passed the trial, and we have to give up the chase" replied Noah with his teeth grit together.
"It's also possible. Thank you for having my back" said Jason, as he showed his appreciation.
"Come on Jason, you saved my life once, so it's nothing" replied Noah.
"Hmm, let's leave this place and get you treated" said Jason, with a smile before walking into the door with Noah in hand.
