Rising Phoenix

Chapter 85 - Rising Phoenix

Zed's lips curved into a small smile, the corners of his mouth tightening with newfound resolve. "You're right. I couldn't control you before. But things have changed."

With a mere thought, Zed opened the mental cage, surprising his shadowy counterpart. The darkness surged forward, a roiling mass of doubts and fears ready to engulf him, but Zed stood his ground, feet planted firmly in his mindscape.

"What are you doing?" the shadow hissed, confusion and anger mingling in its voice. "You fool! You've completely broken the barrier that kept me contained!"

Zed's mental avatar seemed to grow colder, mist gathering around him like a protective shroud. When he spoke, his voice carried an authority that even his darker self couldn't ignore, each word ringing with the weight of hard-won determination.

"Don't get too excited," Zed said, his tone glacial. "I haven't given you permission to speak."
