Chapter 8: Affinity Rating Results (4)

Kain waited anxiously for the machine to finally read out his results.

Beep

The unfamiliar teacher went to read out the results while Kain, Mr. Evergreen, and Bridge waited anxiously.

And waited…

And waited…

Ahem. Mr. Evergreen cleared his throat. "Mr. Coal, would you please be so kind as to inform Kain of his result…"

Still silence.

Kain fingers began to riffle through his black locks anxiously. Thankfully, the fed up Mr. Evergreen moved to look at the monitor on the instrument. However, aside from widening his eyes, he also remained silent.

"Mr. Evergreen."

"Mr. Evergreen!!!"

Startled, his homeroom teacher finally collected himself.

"Sorry, Kain. I-i-i-it's an S-rating."

"What?"

"An S-rating Kain!"

Immediately the crowd of onlooking students burst into loud chatter while the remaining teachers ran over to confirm it for themselves.

Among the students staring at him with envy, and some fear, was Bridge tearfully giving a dimply grin so wide as if it had just been his rating read out.

Feeling a shiver down his spine, Kain turned to see the returning principal. One of the teachers must have informed him of his rating, because he began to stalk towards Kain with an amorous look in his eyes that he would never want to receive from a middle-aged man.

Once he reached Kain he began to touch and squeeze various areas of Kain's body. Had he not been significantly stronger than him, he would have already received a fist to his lecherous eyes.

"You…" Principal Waters said while gently cupping Kain's face, "You… are the first S-rated student in our school's history. And I am the principal responsible for nurturing you!"

'Not really. This is like the fourth time I've seen you in my life.' Kain struggled to not to roll his eyes, as he was forced to stare into the Principal's eyes which had practically transformed into dollar signs.

"I'm going to buy a new house…with a pool…a new car too… I heard that luxury brand just came out with a new model…hehehe hehe" Waters muttered to himself as he walked away to where the other teachers were surrounding the machine.

After all of the teachers had confirmed his rating, the one responsible for his reading, Mr. Coal, and his homeroom teacher, Mr. Evergreen, approached him.

"Congratulations Kain," said Coal "Would you like to disclose your affinity?"

Immediately the surroundings quieted down as everyone curiously waited to hear what affinity would grant an S-rating.

'Sorry I can't satisfy your curiosity since I don't know either.'

"I wish to keep it undisclosed" Replied Kain as he immediately heard sighs of disappointment all around him.

"Smart choice. The less people know about your affinity their ability to target you declines. A lot of students, caught up in the pride of an S-rating would loudly proclaim their affinity. I am so glad you could keep a level head. You truly are my star pupil!" Mr. Evergreen patted him on the back before both teachers walked away.

Suddenly Kain felt large arms surrounding him, squeezing tightly. It was Bridge.

"An S-rating Kain! I can't believe it!"

"Yeah me neither…"
