Chapter 4 : Collecting Herbs And Early Challanges

The dawn chorus of birds welcomed a new day at the Golden Lotus Sect. Li Feng woke up early, feeling the cool morning air as he stepped out of his quarters. Today, he and his fellow disciples were tasked with collecting herbs once more. These herbs were vital for the sect's alchemy practices, and the task was a good opportunity for Li Feng to learn more about the natural world and its treasures.

Chen Yang, Liu Ming, and Zhang Wei were already waiting for him near the entrance to the forest. "Ready for another day in the wild?" Chen Yang asked with a grin.

"Always," Li Feng replied, adjusting the straps of his satchel. "Let's find some rare herbs today."

The forest around the Golden Lotus Sect was teeming with life. Tall trees stretched towards the sky, their leaves rustling gently in the breeze. The ground was carpeted with ferns and small flowering plants. It was a place of beauty, but also of hidden dangers.

As they ventured deeper into the forest, Elder Wei accompanied them, pointing out various plants and explaining their uses. "This is Moonlight Grass," he said, indicating a cluster of delicate, pale flowers. "It's used in potions that enhance mental clarity. Be careful when harvesting it; the roots are fragile."

Li Feng knelt beside the Moonlight Grass, carefully digging around the roots with a small tool. He gently lifted the plant, preserving its roots and placing it in his satchel. "Got it," he said, standing up.

"Good work," Elder Wei said with a nod. "Remember, every herb has its purpose. Understanding their properties will make you a better cultivator."

As they continued their search, the group came across a stream. The clear water sparkled in the sunlight, and small fish darted between the rocks. They took a moment to rest and refill their canteens.

"Do you ever think about how all these small things contribute to the bigger picture?" Liu Ming mused, looking at the stream. "Every plant, every drop of water, it's all part of something larger."

"It's like cultivation," Zhang Wei added. "Every step we take, every technique we learn, it all adds up."

Their conversation was interrupted by a sudden rustling in the bushes. Li Feng's senses heightened as he turned towards the sound. Emerging from the underbrush was a small, fierce-looking creature with sharp claws and glowing red eyes.

"Watch out!" Chen Yang shouted, drawing his sword.

Li Feng and the others quickly moved into defensive stances. The creature lunged at them, but they were ready. Liu Ming's sword flashed, deflecting the creature's attack, while Zhang Wei moved to flank it.

Li Feng focused his qi, channeling it into his palms as he prepared to strike. He could feel the energy building within him, amplifying his strength. With a swift motion, he struck the creature, sending it sprawling back.

Elder Wei observed them closely, his eyes sharp. "Good coordination," he said. "Remember to stay calm and use your surroundings to your advantage."

The creature, though small, was tenacious. It recovered quickly and charged again. This time, Chen Yang threw a talisman, which exploded in a burst of light, disorienting the creature. Taking advantage of the moment, Li Feng delivered a decisive blow, subduing the beast.

As the creature lay still, Elder Wei stepped forward, examining it. "This is a Lesser Bloodfiend," he said. "Not too dangerous alone, but in groups, they can be a threat. Well done, all of you."

They continued their herb-collecting mission, now more vigilant. The encounter had been a valuable lesson in the unpredictability of the wild and the importance of teamwork.

By midday, their satchels were filled with various herbs, and they decided to head back to the sect. As they walked, Li Feng couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. He was learning and growing, not just in strength but in knowledge and experience.

Back at the sect, they delivered their haul to the alchemy hall, where the herbs would be processed and used in various potions and elixirs. The hall was filled with the scent of drying herbs and bubbling concoctions, a testament to the sect's alchemical prowess.

"Good job today," Elder Wei said as they parted ways. "Remember, every small task contributes to your overall growth. Never underestimate the value of these experiences."

Li Feng nodded, feeling more determined than ever. The path of cultivation was long and arduous, but he was ready to face every challenge. With each passing day, he was one step closer to his goals.
