Chapter 11 The Dying Man

The small house in the capital was quite simple.

But for Hu Yunshen, this place made him extremely relaxed.

This was the place he arranged for Liang Yunyan to stay temporarily. Although it was not big, it was warm and cozy.

Hu Yunshen leaned against the bed while Liang Yunyan massaged his shoulders.

Hu Yunshen sighed comfortably: "You are tired too, take a rest."

"Not tired." Liang Yunyan had a small face and fair skin. She was not particularly pretty, but had delicate features.

She withdrew her hand, and her daughter Liang Ruosheng brought her a cup of tea.

"Father, please drink." She spoke obediently, which immediately attracted Hu Yunshen's praise.

"Ruosheng is becoming more and more sensible, Yunyan, you are still the best at teaching him."

Liang Yunyan pursed her lips and smiled faintly.

"Brother Shen, I was wrong a few days ago. I shouldn't have gotten mad at you because of Rong'er. Chen Qingyin has a strong personality, and it was not easy for you to arrange for Rong'er to live in the mansion."

As she spoke, she leaned gently on Hu Yunshen's chest, her tone choked with sobs.

"I just feel sad for our son when I think about how he can't openly call you father, can't be with you, and has to be a bastard. Rong'er is still so young..."

Hu Yunshen quickly held her hand and comforted her softly: "Yunyan, I'm sorry for making you feel wronged."

Liang Yunyan shook her head gently: "It doesn't matter if I am wronged. Let me suffer, and don't let the two children suffer."

"I will compensate you later, but the conditions do not allow it now."

Hearing him say this, Liang Yunyan wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes.

She stood up and asked, "Then, can Ruosheng and I change the time we enter the mansion from the first day of next month to the twenty-ninth day of this month?"

Hu Yunshen frowned, "I'm afraid not. That day is the anniversary of Qingyin's mother's death. Logically, I should accompany her to pay tribute."

In the candlelight, Liang Yunyan's eyes were filled with tears.

She lowered her head slightly, and tears dripped down the tip of her white nose.

"Well, I won't embarrass Brother Shen anymore."

"Yunyan, you have never been a person who makes trouble for no reason. Tell me, why do you want to enter the mansion early?"

Liang Yunyan threw herself into his arms and said, "Brother Shen, Aunt Guihua from the neighborhood is always curious about my identity. Recently, there have been rumors outside that I am someone else's mistress. Even Ruosheng is pointed at by them when she goes out."

Hu Yunshen was furious: "How dare she be so talkative?"

Liang Yunyan raised her eyes and said pitifully, "I am a girl from a good family. My father taught me poetry, literature and etiquette since I was young. If I didn't really love Brother Shen, I wouldn't want to be a concubine who is not in the limelight."

Hu Yunshen quickly held her hand.

"Please don't say that. You have sacrificed so much for me. I have been with the army for so many times because of your care. You are my benefactor, Yunyan."

Liang Yunyan sobbed, "So, I just want to go back home with you as soon as possible. I don't want to be criticized here anymore."

But Hu Yunshen thought that he and Chen Qingyin had been married for almost four years, and he had never accompanied her to worship her mother.

A few years ago, he could say that he was away on a military expedition and therefore couldn't accompany her.

But this year, what excuse did he have to refuse?

He couldn't offend the Chen family now.

Seeing him hesitate, Liang Yunyan's face suddenly turned cold.

She let go of Hu Yunshen's hand, got off the bed, put on her shoes and put on her clothes.

Hu Yunshen hurried to stop her: "Yunyan, what's wrong with you?"

Liang Yunyan threw off his shackles, her face cold: "I am a girl from an honest family. If people speculate about me like that, I might as well die. My father said that people should not be spineless."

She wiped her tears and looked fragile yet strong.

"I can see that too. Brother Shen, you don't want to take me in. It doesn't matter. I can write. At most, I can take Ruosheng with me and write letters to others. I can earn three cents a day. There's nothing shameful about showing up in public."

Hu Yunshen became anxious.

"Yunyan, I know you are a proud woman. You used to disdain money-making activities. How can I bear to see you go out in the open to make a living?"

Finally, he gave in.

"Okay! I promise you, I will take you to the Hu Mansion on the 29th."

Liang Yunyan raised her eyes to look at him: "Really?"

Hu Yun nodded deeply.

Liang Yunyan: "Then Chen Qingyin's mother's death anniversary... wouldn't it be delayed?"

Hu Yunshen thought it was nothing: "As long as I explain a few words, she will definitely understand."

Liang Yunyan threw herself into his arms and hugged his waist tightly.

"Brother Shen, I will follow you for the rest of my life. No matter what happens in the future, my child and I will never leave each other."

Liang Ruosheng also rushed over and hugged Hu Yunshen's arm.

She kept shouting, "Father, father, Ruosheng can finally live under the same roof with you. Ruosheng really wants to see you every day."

Hu Yunshen was very happy.

He did not get the dependence of his daughter from Chen Qingyin, but he felt the extreme joy of being a father from Liang Yunyan.

He directly picked up Liang Ruosheng and put his left hand around Liang Yunyan's shoulders.

"From now on, I have you and Rong'er with me. This is a life that even gods would envy."

Liang Yunyan leaned on his shoulder and smiled, but there was a look of bitter hatred in her eyes.

Chen Qingyin, you caused my son to become a bastard. I also want the day you pay tribute to your biological mother to be the day you welcome me into the mansion!

"What? Madam Liang wants to enter the mansion early? Why?" Chen Qingyin looked at Hu Yunshen who came to discuss in surprise.

Hu Yunshen adjusted his clothes in front of the mirror and said, "I can't live in the house outside anymore. The environment is not good. After all, she is the widow of my benefactor. A woman with a daughter will always be criticized."

Chen Qingyin frowned: "But, the date for her to enter the mansion has been arranged. If she wants to enter the mansion on the 29th, then I..."

Hu Yunshen knew what she was going to say, so he interrupted her.

"Qingyin, you are also a woman, you should understand how difficult it is for her. Moreover, if you bring her in earlier, I can put my mind at ease and give an explanation to my benefactor in the afterlife."

Chen Qingyin had no choice but to nod after a little thought: "Okay, I'll arrange it."

Hu Yunshen strode away.

On the day Liang Yunyan entered the mansion, the Hu family celebrated the event with great enthusiasm.

After Chen Qingyin arranged the banquet, she took Hu Mianmian and Linlang out in a carriage to go up the mountain to worship her mother.

They had to go to the street to buy paper money. Linlang accompanied them and stood up for justice all the way.

"Our Madam arranged everything in an orderly manner, but the old Madam and her friends didn't even say thank you, and they even ignored Madam and opened the front door to welcome that widow. It's really outrageous."

Chen Qingyin still said: "Forget it, since I have agreed, let's do it well, so that the widows won't think that our Hu Mansion doesn't take it seriously enough."

Hu Mianmian shook her little head beside her.

Confused mother, so confused!

She had to think of a way to let Chen Qingyin see with her own eyes what the relationship between Liang Yunyan and Hu Yunshen was.

suddenly!

At the end of the street came the sound of whips being swung.

A team of imperial guards came galloping along, causing a commotion.

"Get out of the way! Everyone, get out of the way!"

Chen Qingyin and Linlang quickly protected Hu Mianmian and retreated to the side of the road.

A carriage with bells hanging on it was covered tightly with cloth and had several yellow talismans pasted around it.

Hu Mianmian tilted her head and looked at it curiously.

When the curtain of the carriage swayed, the little guy saw a nine-year-old boy with a pale face and lifeless eyes sitting in the carriage.

They looked at each other, and Hu Mianmian could not see any vitality in his eyes.

A dying person.
