Chapter 13: Thousand Years of Evil

The night was long, with thunder and lightning.

Purple lightning streaked across the clouds like a snake, and the sound in the mountains was particularly harsh and intense.

The Ninth Prince fled hastily into the vast woods.

His face was pale, and he looked back from time to time to see if there were any assassins chasing him.

Not far from him, on the hillside, a group of knife-wielding assassins quickened their pace and chased after him.

"Wait." The leading masked assassin stopped his accomplice.

He looked around. The forest seemed as dense and gloomy as an abyss in the thunderstorm night.

"The Ninth Prince fled in this direction. Could he have gone into the back mountain?"

The accomplices around were all surprised and lowered their voices: "I heard that there is a thousand-year-old evil spirit suppressed in the back mountain of the National Temple."

The others echoed: "Today I heard the abbot repeatedly tell the pilgrims not to go to the back mountain."

The leading assassin hesitated for a moment, murderous intent flashed in his eyes.

"If we don't kill him today, none of us will be able to give an explanation to our master when we return. No matter if he is evil or not, we have swords. Why should we be afraid of a thousand-year-old ghost? Let's go!"

Everyone broke into the forbidden area in the back mountain.

The Ninth Prince ran forward with his head down, not knowing where he was.

All he knew was that there stood a dull and ancient tower in front of him.

The mountain was filled with fog, making the ancient tower look more like it was surrounded by cold smoke.

When the Ninth Prince saw that the door was locked, he climbed in through the unlocked window.

Unexpectedly, his feet slipped and he fell to the ground with a thud.

"Ah!" He screamed in pain. His left ankle was broken when he fell!

The pain made him shed tears. He didn't bother to check the injury, but quickly stood up and closed the window.

Then he crawled to the corner and hid behind a pillar. Thinking of his own experience, his suppressed crying was filled with intense grievance.

"Tsk." An impatient sound was heard.

The Ninth Prince suddenly stopped crying and looked around with wide eyes.

Is anyone here?

With the help of the faint lightning and thunder outside, he saw that there was a hexagonal tower inside the ancient tower.

The hexagonal tower is locked with countless iron chains and covered with talismans.

It looks like it's suppressing something.

The Ninth Prince trembled: "Who, who is there?"

That impatient voice sounded again, like the faint lazy sound of being woken up from sleep.

"Me? Of course I'm the god here."

The Ninth Prince was stunned, and quickly knelt on the ground, clasped his hands together, and cried helplessly.

"God, please save me! There are many assassins out there who want to kill me. I can't survive."

He was probably driven to despair, and cried incoherently, "My mother fell down and had a miscarriage, but she said it was me who pushed her. My father didn't believe me and locked me up in the palace every day."

"I finally found an opportunity to please my father. When I brought him tea, I found a deadly poison in it. My father believed that I wanted to harm him and sent me here. But I know that even if I die here today, they will not care whether I live or die."

"Why am I the one who always suffers? I have never done anything to harm others, but my brothers bully me, my servants despise me, and even my father hates me."

The ninth prince bowed his head to the ground and cried bitterly.

"God, please help me, I don't want to die! I want to live, I want to survive."

That lazy and arrogant voice finally spoke again.

"Alive? You are a prince, but you are worse than a dog. You are so cowardly. You might as well die."

The Ninth Prince wiped away his tears and said, "I don't want to be trampled underfoot all the time. I want revenge! Lord God, as long as you can save me, I am willing to pay any price!"

As if it heard something interesting, the ancient tower shook slightly and the iron chains made a ping-pong sound.

A faint black mist spread out from the ancient tower and finally gathered in mid-air to form a pair of huge blood-red eyes.

The Ninth Prince was so frightened that he sat down on the ground.

The blood-red eyes, filled with endless wildness, stared at the Ninth Prince for a moment.

The lazy voice just let out a sneer.

"Any price? Even if you sacrifice your flesh and blood to me?"

The Ninth Prince was stunned.

The violent thunder in the sky was deafening, as if it was tearing something apart.

Purple lightning illuminated his pale face, and he understood deeply that he was at the end of his rope and had no choice.

"God, will you... help me get revenge?"

"Yes," he said in a cold and evil voice, "I will kill everyone who bullied you."

The Ninth Prince slowly lowered his head, cold sweat dripping down the tip of his nose.

"I am willing to make the sacrifice."

With a "clang" sound, a dagger fell out of thin air in front of him.

The Ninth Prince seemed to sense something, and with trembling hands he picked up the dagger and cut a deep wound on his left hand!

Blood was flowing everywhere.

As if guided by some unknown source, he stood up, walked slowly forward, and touched the ancient tower with his bloody hand.

At that moment, his blood flowed upward along the lines of the meridian tower and was finally absorbed into it.

It was as if something was nourished!

The black mist suddenly let out a comfortable sigh, as if it had eaten some delicious food.

"You were an emperor in one of your lives. Your blood is still useful to me."

At this time, there was a sound of assassins searching outside.

The Ninth Prince turned pale and urged, "They are coming!"

The black fog slowly surrounded him.

"I will accept this offering."

The assassins have found the vicinity of Leiyin Tower.

Someone tried to stop them: "This is an important place where evil spirits are imprisoned. It's better not to go in!"

The leading assassin waved his hand and said, "Fools! We have knives in our hands. Are we afraid of this half-dead evil spirit that has been suppressed? Kill the Ninth Prince quickly and report back to the master."

A group of assassins broke into the tower.

They searched with knives but found no one.

"Strange," the leading assassin wondered, "Didn't he come in?"

As he turned around, suddenly, a figure fell upside down.

The assassin looked into a pair of dark yellow eyes that shone with a fierce light.

It's the "Ninth Prince".

The assassin immediately swung his knife and chopped: "Here he is! Kill him!"

Unexpectedly, the "Ninth Prince" clamped the blade with just two fingers.

The young man had a thin, cold, pale face and a wanton and frivolous sneer.

"You came just in time, I'm not full yet."

In an instant, the chain broke and the mountains and fields shook!

Several screams were heard from the Leiyin Tower, and the sky and the earth changed color.

The wind blew hard, and a heavy, cold rain finally fell.

Hu Mianmian, who was far away in the Hu Mansion, was originally sleeping soundly on her back, beside her mother.

Suddenly, she curled up as if she had sensed something, rolled into her mother's arms, and kept mumbling -

"So scary... a big monster, there is a big monster..."

Chen Qingyin woke up in shock and saw that her daughter looked like she was having a nightmare, with cold sweat covering her pale face.

She quickly patted the child's back gently.

"Don't be afraid, Mianmian. Mother is here. Mother will protect you."

The thunder outside was so terrible that it seemed to tear the sky apart.

Hu Mianmian slept restlessly in her mother's arms.
