Chapter 9 Theme: The Invasion 1

 Rey Reed Smith POV

A few minutes ago

"They made quite a great team out there, didn't they?" I asked Garin Gath, who was standing next to me in the expertise room, watching the unfolding battle between his men on earth and the earth protector.

He nodded slowly and said, "It's the reason why I haven't been able to conquer them in the last few years. I don't know how they did it, but they'd located us, attacked, destroyed, and took our element to build advanced armor for themselves."

"Now, that's interesting." I smile, moving away from the holographic image to a tall chair with a brown armrest. "I love challenges."

"Sir, the men that were killed on earth seem to be weaker than those with us. Their metabolism isn't functioning well, and their energy is reduced by three hundred percent."

I ask Garin, "What are you not telling me about your adaptation to survive?"

"Nothing," he said, furrowing his brow as if thinking about it. "Oh, of course, there's something."

He finally remembered.

"Once we stay in an external environment for too long and don't return to our mother's planet to recharge, we become weak like humans. Our bodies automatically adapt to the environment, its species, and everything nearby. It's the only disadvantage we had."

"Hmm, that sounds awesome." I said that and switched my attention to Reed. "What have you found so far? Let's teach these humans a thing or two."

"I found a secret underground building that belongs to a private NGO man scientist. I hacked into their database using quantum computers and quantum cryptography."

"Wait, Reed," I said, stopping him from continuing his speech. "Start your explanation again, and make sure our commander here can hear us."

"Broadcasting messages in the next 3.2.1" His voice came out loud. "Boom, we're live on the radio!" he shrieked.

"Can you get to the main point? I ain't got the whole time here." I snapped.

"Okay, general! Gentlemen, shall we begin?"

A golf ball flew into the expertise room, flashed different colors, and then turned into a male being that resembled me. It's Reed.

"Is that your AI?" Garin asked, bewildered. "He's advanced more than I thought."

"No, he's not. He's just…"

I was saying when Reed interrupted, "He's just another cheap copy of us."

Wait, he's referring to me as a cheap copy. This AI I made seems to be wiser than me and doing better than any technology ever made. Well, don't blame me. He's from the future. I created him using future and past technology. It's why he's more advanced. He's almost omnipotent. He knows it all.

I knew the tone 'us.' It means Reed is about to duplicate. Before I could stop him, he duplicated himself into three.

"Good evening, Commander Garin." One clone stretched his hand at Garin Gath. "It's good to finally meet you in person."

"We're Rey Reed Smith," the second clone said, and I stood still, watching the whole scene in awe.

"I love the color of your body," says the third one, cupping Garin's face. "We are the true copy, but we serve different purposes. Would you like to meet the rest of us?"

"No!" I shrieked, running toward Reed. "You're…"

"Stepping out of the boundary," another clone said, completing my statement and snapping his hand. Reed seems to know more about me than I thought.

Instantly, I was trapped inside an electromagnetic field laser net. I knew better than to touch them. Once I don't do that, my body will disintegrate.

"U.R.S., let me go now!" I shrieked, but a robotic voice responded instead.

"Authority not granted. Unauthorized request!"

"You seem to be making some mistakes here, boy. I designed this ship, and they listened to my voice more. It's part of me." Reed elaborated and then turned to face Garin of Gath. "Meet my team!" He stretched his hand.

"Reed four at your service." A clone came out, making four.

"Reed twelve and thirteen welcome you onboard, Commander G.G.," two clones said, coming out.

I was forced to watch as Reed duplicated himself into fifty beings that looked exactly like me, and he didn't seem to be stopping anytime soon.

Garin shouted, "It's enough!" and Reed stopped duplicating himself.

He let out a disappointed hiss before the clones started vanishing as fast as they came.

"We thought you'd be pleased to meet us all," said one, and then he kicked the wall in frustration.

"I'm so…" another said, feigning to hit Garin in the face due to rage.

I watched as Garin sighed in frustration, throwing his hand in the air like someone who had locked his keys inside his room.

"Okay guys," he said. "I'm glad to meet you all, but we had a serious pending matter to attend to solve."

"Yes, it's a pending matter!" Reed hollered, jumping to his feet. He loves everything about technology. "Let's continue."

"Hun?" Garin scoffed. "What about him?" he pointed at me.

"Him? Who is he?" Reed feigned ignorance, and I smirked. He knew what I'd do to him once he freed me. Since he will stay active like a human until he finishes his explanation, he won't dare to release me.

Just like I had presumed, he said, "If you're referring to my messenger, he will be staying there, in that cage, until I'm done."

With that, he faced Garin and asked with a triumphant smile, "Shall we begin?"

Garin looked at me, his face seeking my permission, and I slowly nodded my head. I'd take care of Reed once I'm out of this place.

"Sure," Garin forced out a smile, "let's start."

"Like I was saying earlier, I hacked into the familiar protector's database using quantum computers, quantum cryptography, Python, algorithms, et cetera, etc. It was easier for me because all these are technologies that are still in the early stages of development on Earth, meaning that we are far more advanced than them. The quantum computers can process the information at an incredible speed, which

make them perfect and fast enough for me to steal the information without them noticing. Since Alg can learn and adapt on its own, I used it to make it hard for them to stop my work even if they noticed. Even though they use quantum cryptography to encrypt data so that it can't be hacked, it's nothing compared to what I can do with ours. It's also the same thing I used to protect our data here, but ours is more advanced than theirs."

"Sounds interesting," I said from my cell as Reed expanded his hand in the air, bringing a Holo map, which I presumed belonged to Earth.

After a while, he tapped a place that was named 'New York City,' and I watched him select a building.

"These buildings were built with ordinary brick, but in the underground, they had superconductors, nanotechnology, and biotechnology. It's what gave them away. These technologies won't radiate on Earth because they are powered by an antenna here in space."

I called from my cell, "Hey Reed, what are the works of those techs?"

He rolled his eyes and said, "Superconductors are materials that can conduct electricity with no resistance, which would make them ideal for building quantum computers. Nanotechnology is the manipulation of matter on an atomic or molecular scale, which could be used to create tiny robots that can hack into technology. Biotechnology is used biologically to create technology, which could be used to create viruses that can infect other technology that tries to invade their computer."

"I'm sure you had that cover, didn't you?" I smirked.

"Of course, boy, I did." He rolled his eyes proudly. "If I didn't, how do you think I would succeed in getting such information? They had the technologies needed to stop me, but I'm advanced. It's very easy to do everything because I can see it all. All I did was just use their backup against them."

"So, what next?" Garin asked cheerfully. Even from where I was standing, I could see that he seemed shocked by Reed's work and eager to learn more.

"I will use Python to create a fake website that looks like their website, upload a virus link on the website, and send it to them. Once they mistakenly click on it or accept it into their account, I'll be able to use algorithms to trick them into thinking they're in a different location, causing confusion for them and redirecting them to a place where we can perfectly ambush and destroy them."

"Good Idea!" I exclaimed and leaped up, totally forgetting that I was in a cage. Part of my hair touched the laser, burning it.

I fume with rage. "You will pay for this, Reed!"

"Then get ready to do the rest of the job alone." He rolled his eyes, and I knew what it meant. He's trying to make a deal. A damn deal that won't favor me

"What are you going to propose this time?" I scoffed, folding my hand to hear what he wanted to say.

"I'm glad you're learning," he said. "A pardon for what I did now, and I will complete what I'm doing in the human base within thirty minutes and be your guardian when you go out to meet them in a chaotic fight."

"Who said I'd be going with them?"

"I knew because you wouldn't want the same mistake to repeat itself," he smiled.

Garin asked, "How?"

"If I were you, after what the Earth Protector did to your men, what would be your next line of action once you finally discovered their hideout and knew how to lure them out?"

Grain thought for a second or two and said, "I'll lead the next assault myself, destroy them, and use that to send a great message to the rest. I will even threaten the president and everything they have."

"It's what our brother here is planning," he grinned, winking at me. "So, do we have a deal?"

Knowing very well that Reed had it all planned out, I shrugged and said, "Okay deal! But…"

"There's no 'but'," he cut me off. I watched him turn to Grain and say, "Get the men ready, equip them, and divide them as much as you can. I'll continue with my hacking now and get back to you as fast as I can. We are taking the invasion to them this time."

Garin Gath nodded his head in approval, turned to give me a weird look, and then walked out of the room, leaving me with Reed.

"Well, look who's ready to return home." I repositioned myself in a standing posture.

Reed said the unexpected, "Not yet. I still have a lot of things to do, a lot of people to meet, and much authority to give in your name. So, why don't you hang in there for a few minutes while I handle things here?"

Before I could respond, he turned into a drone and flew out of the room, my ear picking up the clicking sound of

the door as he bolted.

Finally, I sighed in defeat and relaxed my tense muscles. Reed is such a jerk, and I'll make sure he pays for it.
