Chapter 17 Ava Evil plan
Ares saw the stares and became curious about who Nadine was. She was strange, and when he noticed Zeke's attention falling on her, he grew even more intrigued. Zeke, who had always been obsessed with him, was now staring at the blonde-haired girl. What was happening? After giving the students their questions, Ares slumped into his chair, twirling his pen while lost in thought.
He was not getting anywhere. Apparently, the Child of Light had shielded off their powers, and now the Red Oak tree was blooming more than ever. If it mistakenly bore fruit, they were all doomed. For the oak tree to be found and uprooted, the Children of Light had to be eliminated—because as long as they lived, they would ruin every plan of the dark creatures like demons and vampires.
"Jeremy, can you please find a seat and begin the test? Remember, this will determine your future in college."
Jeremy looked at Luna, whose face was cold as ice. She didn't seem to care; she simply turned away and continued writing, leaving Jimmy alone with his thoughts.
Through his observations, Ares had gathered overwhelming evidence that the divine Child of Light possessed striking silver hair, a symbol of their pure powers and endless angelic blood. This blood fueled their abilities further. The perfect candidate for this role was Slyvia, the strange girl who was surprisingly bright. It was time to lay a perfect trap to test her full potential. The divine beings had to be eradicated once and for all.

The test ended 30 minutes later. Ares instructed Zeke to pack the exercise books and drop them off in the respective classes. Zeke stood up and left energetically, unusually cheerful for some reason.
Nadine sensed that something was off. She barely paid attention to Rose, who was reprimanding Slyvia for refusing to attend the party for some unknown reason.
"Slyvia, baby, stop this attitude. You're a beauty, a gorgeous girl for that matter. Why not use that charm and perhaps find a boyfriend?"
Rose stroked Slyvia's massive silver hair as she spoke. At that moment, Emily interjected with a strange statement.
"Are you going, Slyvia? You don't need to come, you know. Partying isn't your thing, especially after what happened at Ivory High."
Slyvia and Rose both stared at Emily, surprised by her unusual behavior.
"Emily, what's that supposed to mean? Do you want your friend to stay behind while you enjoy the party? Or is this about Harlan?" Rose asked directly, her voice dripping with suspicion.
"Forgive me if that's what it seems," Emily replied, her tone calm but firm. "I'm just saying that partying isn't something that should be forced. Go if you want."
Slyvia smiled faintly, her voice calm as ever. "I don't mind staying, Emily. Enjoy yourself. I think I might have menstrual cramps, so I'm staying back. Have fun, guys."
Slyvia got up and left without looking back, and Harlan followed quietly behind her.
Nadine sneaked a glance at Emily and noticed her trembling. Why is she shaking? Nadine wondered. Because he doesn't like her back? That's pathetic.
Before Nadine could approach Zeke, he walked past her, his cold voice cutting through the air.
"Don't you dare follow me."
His icy glare made Nadine flinch. How rude. But then, why had he sent her a paper earlier? She realized she was overthinking, hissed in frustration, and left the class since the lecture was over.
---
Rose remained seated with Simon, who was hugging her from behind and planting kisses on her neck. Ava entered the room with Nina, Vesper, and Ophelia in tow.
Ava stared at Rose with contempt, her voice sharp with disdain. "Oh, I see you've taken my vomit, Rose. How cheap and disgraceful."
Rose hissed and stood, glaring at the group.
"Ladies—or bees—don't drink Panadol for my sake because it won't help you. And about your so-called vomit, Ava, you don't even have one. Gosh, you were literally rejected and thrown away, so why the vomit?"
She continued, straightening her dress as she spoke with finality. "Get this, you dog Nina—stop letting her fool you with her trash promises. Remember, bones are all you'll get. Now, Ava, carry your dry self and let me pass."
Rose adjusted her handbag, picked up her phone, and walked out majestically, her poise unshaken.
Ava stared after her, bitterness etched across her face. Rose had the audacity to talk back after stealing from her? Ava let out a sardonic laugh, her rage bubbling over as she slapped Nina hard.
"You dog, Nina! I want you to get me acid from the chemistry lab. The most potent one. It's time I taught that fool a lesson."
Nina bowed, but Ava grabbed her hair furiously. "What did I ask you to say, dog?"
Through tears and fright, Nina stammered, "Y-Your Majesty, I will go, Your Majesty."
"Good. Be a good dog, and you shall be rewarded with lots of bones." Ava's laughter filled the room as Nina scurried away in tears, Vesper kicking her on the way out.
Ophelia turned to Ava. "So, after this, what's next?"
Ava smirked. "It's the season of the Black Swans—the voice competition. If I win, I'll get Simon back. I'm not losing him. Never."
Her voice dropped to a cold whisper. "But first, let's disfigure Rose Anderson."
---
Jeremy sat beside the deserted school pool, tears streaming down his face. The memories of torment and humiliation from his school days overwhelmed him. The weight of his trauma was unbearable.
His mind flashed back to a moment when he had been forced to eat feces. The memory made him cry harder. Why couldn't he escape this pain? Why couldn't he just be free?
A strawberry scent enveloped him, and a figure hugged him from behind.
"It's okay, Jimmy," Nadine whispered softly. "We're in this together. They'll have to deal with both of us, whether they like it or not."
Jeremy managed a weak smile, comforted by her presence. But their moment was interrupted by a voice.
"Jeremy McCarty, the principal wants to see you. Now."
Jeremy froze, his blood running cold. Nadine's smile instantly faded.

Meanwhile, Zeke entered the storage room to drop off the exercise books. As he turned to leave, a voice boomed from the shadows.
"Sorry, but you have to die. Your time is over, and I'm being tracked. I can't let them trace you to me."
Zeke's face paled as he scanned the dark room, his heart pounding in fear.
"Silas, kill him," the voice commanded. "Make it look like the mountain wolves got him. For now, I don't want him breathing."
Zeke's mind went black.
