He sat down again.
Gong Shaoyang looked in the direction of his gaze with suspicion, only to see several models chatting away merrily.
Gong Motin had already looked away and calmly replied, "You go ahead, I'll return in a while."
After Gong Shaoyang left, he still stayed in the most inconspicuous corner, watching her every move.
The interviewers at the party were mostly from abroad, which was an excellent opportunity for Lin Miao'er, who had spent five years overseas; she held a glass of red wine and engaged in lively conversations with everyone.
But she always felt something off, as if a pair of sharp, eagle-like eyes was watching her. Upon looking back, she saw no familiar faces.
It wasn't long before Lin Miao'er suddenly saw Sister Hua coming over in a hurry with a very unpleasant expression.
"Miao'er, I almost forgot, there's something I need to give you." A beautiful box was passed into Lin Miao'er's hands.
"Sister Hua, what is this?"
"This is a welcome gift from the company to each model. You can also give it to your favorite interviewer; it should help with your preliminary interview. It's up to you."
Lin Miao'er took the gift with a smile and did not forget to thank her; however, she couldn't understand – if she were to give it to her favorite judge, wouldn't that offend the other judges?
What exactly did this mean? She had to think about it. Besides, it was also her first encounter with Sister Hua, so she didn't know her very well,
and, moreover, Sister Hua's expression didn't seem quite right when she came over...
As Lin Miao'er contemplated what to do with the gift, a familiar yet foreign figure appeared before her eyes, delighting her.
Wasn't that Gong Motin, the man she had forced into marriage years ago – and to think, she had run into him here!
If she had known he would be here tonight, why would she have gone to all the trouble that morning?
But why was he here?
Perhaps it was because Master Gong's young master had come, and as his bodyguard, he had followed?
Perhaps due to his role as a bodyguard, Gong Motin stayed seated in the lonely corner,
without changing seats, swirling a wine glass in his hand, without work to do or words to say, looking as though he was preoccupied with heavy thoughts.
From her bag, Lin Miao'er took out a business card and slipped it into the pink ribbon on the gift box, walking towards Gong Motin.
"Mr. Gong, hello, my name is Lin Miao'er."
In the dimness of the corner, her slight figure cast a shallow shadow on Gong Motin's handsome face.
Five years, and he was finally going to see her!
In Gong Motin's eyes, she was still the somewhat childish girl who had actively asked him to get a marriage certificate at the Civil Affairs Bureau and had proposed to him.
The joy in his eyes faded in a flash as he spoke indifferently, "Do we know each other?"
Lin Miao'er was taken aback, realizing that he didn't remember her after all.
However, that was a small matter. After all, the two of them had only known each other for such a short time; it was normal for him to not remember her.
"Mr. Gong, I am Lin Miao'er, the one who got the marriage certificate with you at the Civil Affairs Bureau five years ago. Do you remember?"
Lin Miao'er's smile was radiant. Since becoming a mother, she had become much less prickly, with a gentle and tranquil disposition.
"Is that so?" His black eyes fixed on Lin Miao'er, only after a long pause did he speak coldly, "I don't remember."
Her disappointment was evident on Lin Miao'er's face.
But quickly, her smile returned,
It was actually a good thing he had forgotten about her; this way, she needed not worry about this man developing feelings for her while she could spend a limited amount of time with him and determine if he was trustworthy enough to be given the responsibility for her child.
But would he be able to accept the unexpected revelation about Da Bai? After all, he didn't even care about who he married.
Lin Miao'er sighed, "I indeed did wrong five years ago. I'm very sorry, Mr. Gong."
"Miss Lin, I do not wish to accept your apology. I find it quite nauseating, and it has come far too late. I don't need it," he said with a tone as if it had been chill-hardened.
"You… do you remember me?" Lin Miao'er asked nervously.
Gong Motin stayed silent with no response, his attitude making it clear – it didn't matter whether he remembered her or not; what mattered was his current annoyance with her and his disinterest in her apology.
All of this left Lin Miao'er feeling powerless as she extended the gift she had at hand towards him:
"Mr. Gong, regardless, I have to say sorry. Please accept this gift."
Even if it weren't for the child's sake, it was she who had been in the wrong back then.
"Also, Mr. Gong, could you please give me your contact details? I have other matters I wish to discuss with you."
Gong Motin, holding his glass of wine, wore a cold expression, keeping people at a distance,
Lin Miao'er couldn't help but think of Da Bai; every time he was forced to do something he disliked, Da Bai would furrow his little brow in exactly the same way Gong Motin was doing right now.
