Chapter 30

"Harper? This is Henry's mom, Helen. I'm at the River Bed Pack, and I was wondering if I could see you?"

An old and frail voice came through the phone, and Harper frowned. She'd only met Henry's mother once, and it didn't go well. She remembered that Helen had teased her about her appearance and openly said she disliked Harper's family background.

In fact, Harper clearly remembered that Helen had said, "I don't really like you, and I think you and Henry should stop seeing each other."

Now that Harper had left Henry, why did Helen suddenly want to see her?

She was about to refuse when Helen started to choke up and cry. "Harper, I-I'm so sorry. It's all my fault. I judged you too quickly! I was going to go to your house and apologize, but your parents told me you had left home. I just want to apologize to you in person."
