Chapter 39

Harper's hands froze.

What did he just say? He didn't touch Ava?

Then why had he been with her for the past week?

She also clearly heard the sounds they were making in the study.

"I fell asleep at my desk, and I thought the person hugging me was you…and it wasn't." Wyatt knew that Harper assumed the worst. Even though he felt embarrassed explaining, he needed to clear things up.

Hearing those words, Harper met his gaze, and her expression softened. Was Wyatt really with Ava the whole week?

Was it because he mistook her for Harper in the study? Maybe that was why he was such a mess afterward.

Can I trust him?

Harper bit her lip, not knowing whether to believe him. Though, it was clear that she felt better hearing him explain.

Her fingers continued unbuttoning Wyatt' shirt, and her eyes had their share of his body. They saw his toned chest rise and fall with each breath, then traced the hard lines that led down to his abs.
