Chapter 59

"For the record, I'm not here to threaten you into being their guest," Khai continued with a soft smile. "I'm just here to bring you dessert."

Khai raised his hand to Harper and gave her a small paper bag.

"I saw that you liked those desserts yesterday, so I got extras to give to you. I noticed you didn't have much interest in much of the food at the banquet, so I thought the least I could do was give you a bit more of what you did like."

Harper could feel herself getting hungry as Khai talked, so the two of them went to a corner of the garden and found a bench where they could eat. They sat down, took the sweets out of the bag, and began to talk.

They were even more exquisite than the desserts she had seen yesterday and she couldn't help but become curious about them.

"Where did this chef learn to become so good at this? These are delicious!"

Khai smiled but didn't answer. Instead, he a question to Harper.

"Was it good?"
