Chapter 78

Harper nodded in agreement. That was indeed a problem.

But she was about to speak when Jaylani suddenly reached out and pulled her aside, shaking her head. Jaylani, who had also experienced the threat of being banished, wanted to help Mary. But, of course, she didn't want Harper to get hurt in the process.

If Mary were to lose her position as heir or even be expelled from the Knight Pack, she would reap the benefits. If Harper was too eager to help, it would foster resentment from the others.

Harper looked into Jaylani's eyes and realized what she meant. So, she shut her mouth.

Suddenly, Mary's hysterical cries sounded from the hospital room followed by the shattering of glass. It chilled everyone to the bone.

Harper sighed to herself. She felt much luckier than Mary. Wyatt was more responsible than the man she had the child with. He hadn't shown up to take care of her or even comfort her. Clearly, Mary was in anguish.
