Chapter 18

"Timerante! Hear me out!"

The scent of blood overwhelmed me, causing dizziness and ringing in my ears. My mouth moved on its own, my vocal cords probably vibrating, but I couldn't hear my voice.

I couldn't hear myself properly, and all the sounds seemed muffled, like that one time in my childhood when I accidentally fell into a deep pool near the outskirts of The New Arctic Pack. Besides the continuous rush of water filling my ears, which wasn't particularly jarring, it felt as though every other sound was cut off from reaching me.

Nevertheless, I kept speaking loudly, trusting my instincts.

I knew that if I didn't reveal the truth to Timerante at that very moment, he would see me as the villain who harmed his beloved Luna. Once he discovered the truth one day, remorse would plague him relentlessly. Though I still harbored disdain for him even now, he had been deceived, and Sonja was the true culprit.
