Chapter 3

Diana was helping with a forest fire in California along with one of the Hal Jordan or the Green Lanterns. Diana was looking for any civilians that may have been trapped by the fire while Hal was helping to contain the fire. They were leaving putting out the fires to the necessary departments since this was neither of their specialties.

Diana just set down a mother-daughter pair next to ambulance and was about to turn away when she felt a tug on her skirt. She turned to see the little girl beaming at her.

"Mommy said I should say 'thank you' when someone helps me so thank you," the little girl smiled sweetly

"Of course, little sister. There is no greater joy for me than to help those in need," Diana smiled at the little girl, carefully listening for anyone else who needed help

"We're related? I always wanted a big sister!" The girl was excited that a new sibling appeared out of nowhere. She turned and looked at her mother aggrieved. "You didn't tell me that Wonder Woman is my sister!"

The two older women as well as everyone nearby laughed when they heard the little girl.

"No, little one. Your mother did not give birth to me. But we are all blessed by the same gods which makes us all sisters in my eyes," Wonder Woman patiently explained to the girl. The child nodded but Wonder Woman could tell she could not fully understand what she meant but she got the gist of it.

"This is a call to all Justice League members. We got trouble in Gotham and could use some help. One of Wonder Woman's villains is beating the crap out of us," a young male voice called through the communicator in Wonder Woman's ear. As soon as she heard it was someone related to her, Wonder Woman took off to the skies.

"Lantern, I'm going to help. Robin, I'm on the way. Who is your opponent?" Diana asked as she began to move faster than most could keep up. "I'll arrive in 3 minutes."

"I'm also 3 minutes away," Superman replied, quickly freezing the water around the boat he was chasing before flying toward Gotham.

"Me and Hawkman will be there in 5 minutes," Hawkgirl was closer than the others but she wad a much slower flyer. "Was this attack pre-planned?"

The Zeta Tubes were being maintained at the time which meant teleportation was off the table for everyone. This made everyone who heard her question believe there was a spy in their midst.

"No idea. Looks like be came straight of a movie hybrid of The Matrix and 3-ugh" Robin replied before grunting into the communicator

"He's wearing all black and has two blades attached to a chain," Batman explained what the opponent looked like. "Doesn't seem like Ares. Doesn't talk as much."

'All black but looks like a Greek warrior? Could it be him?' Diana came up with several possibilities before settling on one. "I believe the opponent is Achilles but he should be dead. Hades may have brought him back and that weapon should be a gift from Ares."

"That would explain why the hail of bullets didn't work," Batman barely dodged the blade thrown at him but it still grazed his shoulder. "Does Achilles have super strength?"

"Compared to a normal man? Yes? Compared to a meta? Not really. He shouldn't be able to lift a car," Diana explained as she began to move even faster.

"Then he may powered by Ares as well or those weapons give him a boost. The only issue is that there is no external way to tell."

Possession was not uncommon but there were usually signs. Those possessed by eldritch beings would usually mutate or gain markings. Those possessed by gods would usually have glowing eyes or take on traits of their gods.

"If Achilles was truly possessed by Ares, he should be a mindless berserker. Has he been speaking?" Diana asked. Her enhanced sight could see Gotham in the distance so she unsheathed her sword and shield from her back as she was ready for a fight.

"Not that much. He spoke at the beginning to confirm if-agh!" Batman cried out and a crunching sound could be heard over the communicator.

Wonder Woman and Superman appeared in the sky above Robin's tracker and saw the mess beneath them. Several cars were overturned and cut apart while buildings in the area had slash marks. They could see Robin laying face down on the ground and a man wearing black armor holding Batman by the throat.

Wonder Woman was the first to fly down and screamed at Kratos, "Release him!" she commanded while pointing her sword at the mystery man.

And to her surprise, the warrior did exactly that. He dropped Batman to the floor who hurried to scurry away while holding his broken arm.

Diana studied the man in front of her and realized that he was not Achilles like she was expecting. Achilles had blonde hair and could never grow a beard.

"You are Diana of Themyscira, correct?" Kratos asked

"Indeed. But I have never met you before. Why are you searching for me?" Diana saw that the man seemed slightly reasonable so she wanted to try and talk him down in order to buy time for the others to arrive. She could hear Superman moving behind her and taking Robin back to the Batcave before he arrived on Kratos' left flank. The group had him in a triangle formation that could let them react to anything.

Kratos didn't respond directly but reached into his breastplate and taking out a scroll before throwing it toward Diana. Diana let the scroll land in front of her feet and when she noticed that it did not explode or summon any demons, she stabbed her sword next to it before picking it up and reading the scroll slowly.

She was still reading the scroll when she heard Hawkman and Hawkgirl appear in the sky above them, waiting to make their move.

"What does it say?" Superman asked, ready to attack Diana in case she was under a spell

"That this is the son of Lady Persephone and Lord Hades, Kratos. They sent him here to find me and want me to teach him," Diana explained incredulously. She had never heard of the pair having a child. She would not have believed the scroll if it did not have the divine signature of her half-sister and uncle.

"What?!?!" Superman was not expecting this answer. "Is it real?"

"Hmm. It is indeed real. No one could forge the signature of a god. At the very least, he was truly sent by them," Diana assured Superman and the others. "But are you truly the child of Lady Persephone and Lord Hades? I have never heard of you," Diana turned to question Kratos

"Hmm. You know my father never leaves his domain unless needed and my mother rarely leaves her mother's side when they are together. As for my existence not even being told to her, there is a reason," Kratos started before telling them his true purpose. "I am here to study the world of men and find my path to divinity."

Kratos unsheathed his blades and raised them toward Diana, ready to attack the woman. This caused everyone to tense up.

"That's only if you prove yourself worthy of being my teacher," Kratos smirked before rushing at Diana who was able to block hia strike with her shield.

"No! I'll fight him," Diana yelled at the others who were about to attack. "Let's take this fight outside of Gotham. I don't want civilians getting hurt."

"Not my problem. In war, the enemy will not care for not care if those that stand before them are armed or not. They will cut down everyone who stands in their way," Kratos roared as he put more strength into his arms and sent Diana back a few meters but not before she grabbed her sword.

Diana lowered her posture as she raised her sword and shield for the battle.

'Maybe he really is possessed by Ares.'
