Welcome to America (3/4)

Thought, what Noro had said was also blatantly untrue. I didn't exist a few hours ago? How is that possible?

"Existed," I reply.

"Oh really, then can you tell me why we have no digital or physical record of you ever existing in the US?"

"Existed outside, Arabia." Well, I had no idea where exactly I was born, and I moved around way to list all locations where I previously existed, but at least I can tell her where I died, that counted for something right? My answer didn't seem to make her happy, in fact, she frowned my way.

"Already told you to speak the truth! We have no records of you traveling, you're a ghost, so tell me what I want to hear!" Her tone was pretty stern, and I became increasingly confused, I was telling the truth!

My face was still impassive, not allowing any of the confusion to show on my face. My mouth opened up to try to say anything, but Noro was already cutting me off with her own question.

"How about you tell me what you have, huh?" This time she threw the folder to my side of the table, allowing me to see that it held a picture of me.

It was a picture taken moments before I entered this building, my dull grey eyes and impassive face looking unbothered toward the camera. I'm surprised they managed to print the picture so quickly, but then again technology here is super advanced.

The folder also had various letters and words, each with a subsection beneath large bold letters.

Unfortunately, I had no fucking clue what it said, since I can't read nor did I ever really need to.

So in response, I continue to stare at her, not saying a word waiting for her to elaborate.

Noro on the other hand seems to get even angrier as I stay silent, to the point that I begin to consider asking her if she is alright.

"Your ability! What's your power 'Storm', you need me to tell you everything?" Shaking her head Noro seemed to try and contain her growing irritation, but looking at my tilted head once again made her sigh in anger.

"Guns?" Abilities? Powers? Did she mean my equipment?

"Wha- not that, your power!" She once again exclaimed that word as if it meant something, however, the more she stared at me the more I could only blankly return her glare.

Once again, she groaned this time placing her face in the palm of both her hands.

Powers?

I know what that word means, but the way she is speaking in a completely different context is throwing me off. But what else can she be talking about?

Wait, is she referring to the advanced weapons that give people these incredible strength and abilities as Powers? Ah, that makes sense, they probably believed that I held such weapons considering the death of four people with 'powers' in my hands.

Huh, weirdly enough I never did find any devices that gave them the weird 'Powers' I witnessed, not that I stuck around to truly loot them.

Well, the truth then, "No Power." I replied.

She gave a snort, one painted in disbelief and mockery. And then she looked at me, this time really looking at me, like the first time we both talked when she fell from the sky.

And her eyes grew wide, her mouth opened and no words came out, only a whisper "…what?"

Oh, did I do something wrong?

"Shit, your not lying, how can you not be lying? Why did you fight if you don't have powers?!" The more she spoke the angrier she became, yet this anger was severely different from before, whereas before she seemed angry at not understanding me, now she was angry at knowing exactly what I meant.

"Save people." Was my reply, and it stunned her once again.

Noro closed her eyes, threw her head back, and spoke words in a language I had no idea about, but had a distinct idea that it was bad words. "Fuck, fuck this is so fucked, you shouldn't have been there!"

I have been told this before, it wasn't the first time that people tried to make me stop taking missions. Whenever I showed my face they gave out reactions pretty similar to what Noro was currently showing.

Unlike all the other times however, this one angers me, this time there is a bubbling sensation in my stomach, threatening to burst out and do some violent acts learned in war.

That warmth, she wanted me to stop feeling that warmth? No!

"Why?" I bite out, glaring at her. It was weird, showing emotions on my face, it was something that I just didn't do, even when Alexandria held me and warm fluid fell down my face there hadn't been a single twitch on my part.

Noro was taken back, by the way she took her head out of her hands and shot you a surprised look. "Why? Because you aren't qualified, kid! Hell, we don't let the Wards on this, we're talking about the Nine, most dangerous capes in the country."

Composing herself again Noro shot me a glare this time, not backing down from my own stare "Kids have no place fighting these types of crazy."

So the problem was thanks to my stature? Dammit, this is why I preferred to walk around with my cloth, it hides enough of my face for no one to ask questions. But unfortunately, it was lost in the battle against the knife guy, damm him.

Well, a whole lot of nothing that I was given in terms of information and justification aside. Who were the Wards? And the guys I fought were called Nine apparently, and considering that they are so widely known and feared maybe they had reputations like my own back in the old world.

Not that it mattered, a mission was still a mission, if I accepted it then I would go through with it.

"Killed four." She stopped at my reply, staring at me with furrowed eyes, and even with my meager social skills could see the fact that she was replaying the words back.

"What?" Noro whispered the question out, dazely looking at me.

"Sniper killed. Crimson killed. Jack killed. Siberian killed." Each word coming out of my mouth seemed to make her jaw drop lower and lower.

"Mission given, and completed."

I could also faintly hear some noises coming over the mirror wall, I'm pretty sure that some people were watching me from behind it and my answer seemed to have agitated them.

Faintly, I caught her whispering "Who the hell is the Siberian?"

Tilting my head in confusion, I nonetheless answer her "Striped woman, she-"

"The bitch who the founders were fighting?!"

At this point, I should just resign myself to being cut off.

Simply nodding my head in answer, Noro looks aghast, this time she lets out a laugh that I have seen some soldiers give out after missions that turned their world upside down.

It took some time, especially since Noro seemed to be contacting someone with the weird thing she had plugged in her left ear, but at one point she simply looked back at me, her face now scowling again.

"Why? Why on earth would you even do that?"

"Wanted to save."

Silence once again, this time her face simply scrunched up and she shut her eyes in what you thought meant frustration before she let out a large sigh of exhaustion.

"Shit, shit. Alright, say I believe you, you apparently were contracted by someone, flew all the way here somehow with no digital presence, and suddenly popped up just as New York is under attack of perhaps its greatest danger since the last five years because you wanted to save people?" Honestly, it seemed like Noro had thrown away her disbelief and was now just looking thoroughly amused.

I just nod

Incredibly, even in another language, I knew exactly what she was saying.
