Ayame opens her eyes and glances at the clock on her bedside table. It's 7AM, and sunlight is just starting to filter through the curtains. As she sits up and rubs her eyes, she takes a moment to collect her thoughts.
Ayame stretches and yawns to herself feeling sleepiness of the previous night. She swings her legs out of bed and rises, with a little bit of excitement mixed with anxiety in her realizing that this is the day she has been waiting for
the first shift at her new part-time employment. She makes her way to the bathroom to begin her morning rituals.
Ayame is positioned in front of the mirror over the basin and she splashes some lukewarm water unto her face. While looking at herself on the mirror, she sees dark circles under her eyes which are a slight indication of her late-night movie marathon with Amy. She shakes her head a little to get rid of fatigue and picks up her toothbrush.
She brushes her teeth and reviews the schedule for the day. She is going to have a quick breakfast, put on her casual working outfit, and then move towards café to start his first shift. The idea of dealing with clients as well as coffee house work environment are both thrilling and terrifying at the same time.
Once Ayame finishes brushing her teeth, she will take a rapid shower while the water helps her to wake up completely. She remains in the warm spray for a few more minutes and gets ready mentally to face any difficulties of that day.
Once she's done, she steps out of the shower and wraps a towel around herself. She walks back to her room and starts getting dressed. She chooses a casual but professional outfit for the cafe, with a lightweight blouse and a pair of comfortable jeans. She then styles her hair and puts on a light makeup.
As she looks at herself in the mirror one more time, she gives herself a small affirmation: "You can do this. It's going to be great. Just be confident and friendly, and you'll be fine." Feeling a little bit more ready, Ayame grabs her bag and heads out of the room.
Ayame walks into the living room and sees her cat sitting at the kitchen table.
"Hey there, buddy," Ayame says to her cat, who meows in response. She gives him a quick pat on the head and goes to pour herself a bowl of cereal for a light breakfast.
Ayame is in the middle of pouring her cereal when she hears a knock on the door. She looks up and calls out, "Come in!"
Amy opens the door and peeks in, taking in the sight of her friend in her casual and professional outfit. "Hey, looking good," she says with a smirk.
Ayame laughs and sticks out her tongue at Amy, continuing to pour her cereal. "Yeah, gotta look the part for my first day at work, right?"
Amy walks into the kitchen and takes a seat at the table. "So, are you feeling ready for today? Not too nervous?"
Ayame sits down with her cereal and nods. "Yeah, I'm a bit nervous, but mostly excited. It's my first day, so I don't really know what to expect, but I guess that's what makes it exciting, right?"
"how about you?" Ayame asks
Amy leans back in her chair, a slightly mischievous grin on her face. "Me? Oh, I'm just excited to eat all the complimentary food items and flirt with the regular customers."
Ayame rolls her eyes but can't help but laugh. "Typical Amy. Can the first day of work be just about work for once?"
At this, Amy feigns a hurt expression and clutches her chest. "Wow, such cruelty. I'll have you know that I can multitask. I can work and have a little fun simultaneously. It's a skill, you know?"
Ayame laughs again. "Yeah, yeah, I know. Just promise me you won't get us both fired within the first hour, okay?"
Amy mock salutes. "Aye, aye, captain. I'll behave...ish. No worries, I've got this under control. Just focus on wowing your customers with your coffee-making skills and your charming smile."
Ayame finishes her cereal and puts the empty bowl in the sink. She grabs her bag and car keys from the counter, and Amy stands up ready to leave. "Okay, I think I'm all set," Ayame says, checking her bag one last time.
"Finally ready, huh?" Amy teases with a grin. "Took you long enough. I was about to fall asleep waiting for you."
Ayame lightly smacks Amy on the arm. "Oh, hush. Let's go before we're late and make a bad first impression."
Amy laughs and grabs her own bag. "Alright, alright, I'm ready, I'm ready. Let's go make some coffee and charm some customers."
Ayame rolls her eyes but grins as they both head out the door and into the car. They begin the short drive to the cafe, chatting and joking with each other about the day ahead.
As they approach the cafe, Amy feels a flutter of nervousness in her stomach, but it's mixed with anticipation. She glances at Ayame, who seems to be humming to herself with excitement.
The two of them park the car and step out, taking in the sight of the cute, cozy cafe. The sign out front reads "Blue Rose Cafe," and the windows are tinted, giving the place an inviting and mysterious air.
"I'm glad Yako gave me his car" says Amy
Ayame nods, looking at the cafe. "Yeah, me too. I'm not sure if I'm ready to be driving through traffic just yet. I'm thankful for your brother letting us borrow his car."
"He's the best," Amy replies, smiling. "Now let's go in and knock 'em dead with our coffee-making skills."
"I bet I can make a better latte than you," Ayame teases as they approach the cafe door.
"Oh, you're on," Amy retorts. "Prepare to be defeated in the art of barista-ing."
Ayame smirks and pushes open the cafe door, holding it for Amy to enter first. "After you, oh future barista champion"
They step into the cafe, greeted by the pleasant smell of freshly brewed coffee and the soft sound of jazz music playing in the background. The interior is just as quaint as the exterior wooden walls, cozy lighting, and the walls decorated with cute cat with blue rose and gold related paintings.
A few customers are scattered around the cafe, enjoying their drinks and pastries. There's a counter near the entrance where people can order, and a cozy corner with a few couches and armchairs, which seem to be favorite spots for some customers.
Ayame and Amy take a moment to observe the cafe, both a bit in awe of the charming and relaxed atmosphere. After a second, they walk towards the counter to get to work.
Behind the counter stands the cafe manager, Lucy, a friendly-looking woman in her late twenties. She looks up as the girls approach. "Ah, you're here!" she says, smiling warmly. "Welcome, welcome."
"Thank you," Ayame replies with a smile. "We're excited to start."
Lucy nods, looking them up and down approvingly. "I'm glad to hear it. We could use some extra hands around here. I hope you're both ready to work hard."
"We are," Amy says with confidence. "We'll make sure to do our best."
Lucy gestures to a small room at the back of the cafe. "Before you start, you'll need to change into your work uniforms. You can find them in the changing room. Amy, there's a blue-colored outfit for you, and Ayame, there's one for you with a blue rose and gold designs."
"Thanks," both girls reply, heading towards the changing room. They disappear into the small room and reemerge a few minutes later, now wearing their respective work uniforms. The outfits are casual but stylish, fitting the look of the cafe.
Amy is in her new work uniform, a blue version with a cute cat design, while Ayame is wearing an outfit with a blue rose and golden details. Both girls give each other a grin, feeling ready to start the shift at the cafe.
