The priest’s voice was grim. "Because they defy the gods. They summon horrors that devour worlds. It is not just power—it is corruption given form."  

A student hesitated. "But could one not use that power for—"  

“Silence!” The priest’s eyes burned with fervor. “There is no redemption for a summoner. And now, they speak of the worst of them all—a Summoner of Shadows. A heretic who will plunge the world into eternal darkness. He is the epitome of evil, and when he rises, he will destroy us all.”

The Extra System: Summoner of Shadows

The day of the second round arrived. Each of the one hundred contestants did their rituals to warm up before the big fight. Some of those who passed that round died in the Ascension Forge, so some of those who lost in the first round were chosen to participate instead.

[You have finished your daily quest.]

Cedric jumped from the ground of his pavilion, looking at the notification with a grin. He was topless and covered with sweat after finishing his daily quest. It had taken quite the time from him, but Cedric could finish them in three to five hours of training, depending on the intensity.

Fatigue was the main reason that Cedric couldn't finish the exercises in time. His body was capable of doing the specific training regimen, but it couldn't sustain them for a long period of time.
