When It Rains

Pure and Ma'stbaut reached the cover long before I did, so by the time I reached the surface, the cover had already been pulled back, and everything was clear again.

The creature attached to my neck squirmed in agitation, and I pulled him off my shoulder so I could hold him in my hands. 'Is everything okay? Did you want to go back in the water?' I asked, more than a little concerned.

I felt attached to the tiny thing that seemed to be so helpless. 'Bright,' grunted the Kraken. I guess if I was going to keep him, I was going to have to come up with a name for him. 'And I'm not leaving you.'

I nodded my head and let Gabriel remove my helmet. There was no point in worrying about the Priest seeing my bright red hair; he already knew who I was. But it would offer some sanctuary for the little one.
