Piece 21 (part 2)

"W-Who!?!?" The bald bandit asked so annoyedly while trying to pull his daggers, but Dad's hand is holding both blades with ease without worry of them cutting his skin.

Instead of answering, Dad only turned his sorrowful gaze to me. His gaze looked at me as if he was incredibly saddened about something, and I realized that he was somehow annoyed.

"I am… disappointed in you, Milly." Dad uttered with such sadness, and I opened my eyes widely at him.

I never expected such words to come out of his mouth. I never guessed that he could ever utter those things to me. However, I realized that he would've never said such things to me for no reason.

W-What did I do wrong…?

"One hundred twenty lives." Dad's mouth was opened again, and I opened my eyes widely at him. I wasn't quite sure what that number was about, but Dad told me right away what that number is.

"It was the amount of lives that you have taken, today."

… What?

I… don't understand.

"What…?" I asked while pulling my sword away from him, and Dad easily let go of my sword.

After he did that, he placed his finger all the way onto my forehead. I simply let him since I was very confused about everything, but then I realized he wants to do something for me.

And the moment his finger touched my forehead, my mind was instantly clouded by a perspective.

I can see the battlefield clearly. I can see the entire world that is surrounding this place clearly. I can see everyone and everything so clearly.

And I can also see things that I have not seen before. The amount of people that are present here, the knights and the bandits, who are all fighting for their lives on this devastated battlefield.

But, one thing that seems to be out of the ordinary is the appearance of a girl completely bathed in blood. Her entire school uniform was drenched in red, and she stood right on top of a large built bald man who had his whole body sliced in half.

It's clear to me that the girl in this scene has killed the bandit leader by slicing his body, but it seems like the scene isn't done. After killing the bandit, I started rushing again towards another nearby bandit, and I did not hesitate to swing my blade.

"AAAKKK!!!!!!---"

Screams from the bandits that I sliced were heard loud and clear to the whole battlefield, turning the entire world red. The knights couldn't do anything since I was mercilessly running around and slaying bandits with ease, and there was nobody around who could stop me.

The scene lasted for ten minutes. At the end of it, every single bandit has died, and I alone stood at the pile of corpses where the dead bandits are laid down.

There were indeed… one hundred and twenty bandits. I have killed all of them by myself with my monstrous capabilities.

But, have I really done that? I don't even remember fighting the bald bandit in front of me.

After the scene ended, Dad pulled his finger away from my head. I was snapped back to reality, and I realized that he was only showing me a future that has not happened yet. It was still a future that could've happened, considering all the bandits here are far weaker than me.

And after seeing that future, I now understood why Dad said those words to me. I realized now that I have made a mistake, and I should've been more careful with my decisions.

However, there was also nothing that I could do.

"I… had to kill them. Otherwise, the knights would've died." I reasoned to Dad, but he only shook his head.

"Your necklace. Hold it." Dad said to me coldly, and I can tell he is genuinely angry at me.

I turned to my neck where my magical necklace is at, and I held the necklace tightly. I was wondering why Dad is telling me to do it, but his voice suddenly appeared inside my head.

'You could've very easily just called me by using this necklace.'

… What? This necklace can do that?

'I have already told you. If you do need help, or if you encounter a problem that you couldn't solve… I wanted you to call for me. Shout out loud and cry for help. And yet, you bottled everything up, which resulted in you stressing on your own.'

O-Oh. He can hear my thoughts when I'm holding it.

I still don't get it. So, this whole time, I can just call you like this?

'That is indeed your mistake.'

I let go of the necklace to stop him from reading my mind, and Dad turned his gaze to the bandit next to him. The bandit seemed to have let go of the daggers, and he had formed a distance from Dad. He had taken out a secondary dagger that didn't look fancy, and he looked very ready to defend himself.

"Ten minutes from now, your hands would've been dirtied by the lives of a hundred and twenty people. I can't ever allow you to do something like that, Milly." Dad uttered with such disappointment, but I just don't feel it was fair for him to be so angry at me.

"I don't understand. I was only doing what I think is right."

"And it was wrong. The right answer is to call me for help."

"But, that wasn't the point! I need to fight these bandits so the knights won't be harmed!!"

"I think you're the one missing the point." Dad uttered while lifting his left hand, the hand that isn't holding the red daggers. His finger was pointed upwards, and I noticed right away that a powerful surge of magic is being used.

VWUUNNNNGGGGGG!!!!!!!!

Ho… ly… shit…

In an instant, all the rain droplets that were falling have now turned upside down. The droplets began to climb back up into the skies very slowly, and I noticed that the rain water wasn't the only ones floating upwards.

"W-Whoa!! Wait, wait, wait!!!" Behind him, the bald bandit started floating as well.

The sound of confusion and panic was also heard all over the place, and I looked around to realize what is currently happening. All the bandits in the area were all lifted in the air, and all of them could not move back down to the ground. They all began to float up slightly above ground, and there was absolutely nothing they could do.

The knights can only watch in confusion as the bandits get lifted from the ground. They don't exactly know what is happening, but they realized a powerful magic is currently being used to control every single bandit in the area.

Dad lifted his right hand that was holding the red daggers. And after he lifted them up, he crushed the daggers that were in his hand, and the shattered pieces fell to the ground like glass.

In that instant, something else began to occur on the battlefield.

BREESSSSHHHH!!!!!!!

BREESSSHHHHH!!!!!!!

BRREEESSSSHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Right after the shattered dagger pieces fell on the ground, the bandits that were floating in the air began to explode into red juice.

My eyes couldn't exactly believe what was happening. One moment, these bandits are floating in the air. The next moment, all of them just exploded like something had crushed them into a very tiny ball.

It is… absolutely sickening.

BRUKK!!!!!

The lump that was left from the bandit leader has fallen on the ground quite disgustingly, and I only watched as it landed on the ground. My eyes were then turned all over the battlefield, and I realized that all the bandits had been changed the same way.

They all became… a disgusting ball of flesh that's endlessly dripping blood.

What... just happened...?

"HUUPP---!!!" Behind the old knight, Jeremy puked on the floor after seeing the gruesome event. His stomach couldn't handle the scent of blood that has now been released into the air, and there are definitely a few other knights who were present that did the same thing.

Next to the lump of freshly crushed meat, Roy fell to his butt, unable to comprehend what just happened. His terrified eyes stared at what was left of the bandit he brought, completely crushed into a ball of meat.

My eyes then turned towards the culprit who did all of this, but the white haired man only walked towards me. I became widely afraid of him considering what cruelty he just did, and he landed his hand softly onto my shoulder.

"Your mistake is failing to contact me. I could've very easily taken care of these stupid bandits without much problem." Dad said to me lightly, as if he didn't just kill so many bandits in one second.

And the soft smile on his face… it's like he's not even regretting what he did in the slightest.

"… Ha. Haha."

So, this is the death knight… huh?
