When it was 4:30am, I hit my hand on my alarm before it rang and got up. I don't want to disturb residents in the pack house. Went to the toilet, did my business and changed for training. Training starts by 5am but as the Alpha, I need to set an example and get up extra early to start training.
Even though it looks like I might not need it, I like to think no one is invisible, my dad was a formidable Alpha and fighter and he was still murdered by rogues, hence my early appointment as the new Alpha of Crystalmoon pack. Ever since the incident, I killed any rogue that stepped into our territory. Except the rogue was a child.
I went to the training ground and started training. 30 minutes later, my Beta Luke and Gamma Jesse came to the pack grounds. Other pack members trailed sluggishly. Shaking my head, I spoke loudly "Good morning everyone".
That woke them up quickly. And we began training officially.
The training is divided into two parts. There's the advanced part for the warriors or upcoming warriors. And the normal part is for the members that just have to know how to defend themselves in times of trouble which is compulsory for everyone.
We got done by 7am. We train for 2 hours before school during weekdays and train for 5 hours during weekends.
School resumes at 8am.
I know I don't really need school as I already finished but didn't go to college due to Dad dying and having to take over the pack. This is what I'm made for. Okay, back to my point, I just can't keep myself from seeing Jade, even if she glares at me. I know, it's weird right? Ever since I was young, I couldn't leave her. Even if I had to look for her trouble to get her attention. Every time she came for holidays or to visit Jeanine before she finally moved in when her parents died. I was always sad to see her go back home. Anyhow, this time, I don't know how she did it, but she managed to sneak shrimps in my food. And she knows I'm allergic to Shellfish.
Due to fast werewolf healing, I was already okay before getting to the pack house. She should actually get more creative.
I smiled to myself as I thought of how I was going to pay back.
Okay, let me introduce myself, I'm Hades Pierson, Alpha of Crystalmoon pack. You already know my reputation as an Alpha. I don't take nonsense. At all.
I wear my wristwatch, pick the red paint I put in a little ziplock bag, stuff it in my bag and walk out of my room.
"Mum, good morning" I kissed her on the cheeks.
"Hades, how are you?" She turns from what she was cooking, giving me a plate of toast and eggs with fruit juice.
"I'm fine mum, thanks mum".
People began filing in to eat and go to school or their prospective work stations.
"Hey man" Luke and Jesse greet me, I nod at them.
They take their food, sitting on either side of where I was seated, I'm seated at the head of the long dining table.
"Did you get information on how the child rogue got here and what pack she came from?" I asked.
"Yeah, her pack was the recently obliterated one, Loyalmoon pack. She somehow found a way to escape and mistakenly got here" Luke told me.
"So our guess is that it's the same rouges that killed my father, Jeanine's mother and Jade's parents that attacked her pack right?" I asked.
Luke nodded solemnly.
Let me explain the connection between Jade, Jeanine and I.
Jade's father was a werewolf, a warrior infact of this pack. Jeanine's father was also a warrior of this pack. Both warriors were formidable. Jade and Jeanine's mothers are twins but they were humans. Which makes Jade and Jeanine kind of half werewolf and half human. In this case, where a werewolf has a human mate, the offspring has a dominant side, either the human or the werewolf. Jeanine's werewolf is dominant so she can shift partly and has rapid healing, she's fast, has a fast metabolism and all the traits a normal werewolf has, the only difference is that she can't fully shift so she knows about us naturally since she lives close to this pack(her dad decided to move out after his friend and his mate died).
In Jade's case, her human side is more dominant, I think since I haven't seen her shift even when she's extremely angry(it can bring out your wolf). But I've actually noticed she heals faster than a normal human, which she's totally oblivious to.
We decided not to let her know about werewolves, her father moved them out immediately they had Jade, (that was when the rogue attacks started getting worse). It was like he knew they were going to get killed. Jade was at school during the attack, that was why she didn't get killed. She was told her parents died in a car crash.
We hide our world from Jade because her father died hiding it from her. Our parents were friends, that's the part where I come in this story, so it's not a surprise we all became friends or "enemies" in our case(that's what Jade calls us).
I park my car and go to my first class, I don't bother apologizing for my tardiness, and when I spot Jade, my mismatched coloured eyes light up and I go sit next to her. I convinced the Principal that I always wanted to sit next to her so we could mend our relationship as I put it, surprisingly, he liked the idea. Before class started, I already gave one of the students the red paint to put on her seat. I'm actually surprised she fell for it, she must've really been distracted to not notice the ziplock bag. Well it's small though.
Mr Omar called her to his table and it was hard not to laugh at her red splattered jeans. Immediately she turned back, Mr Omar knew what I did and sent her to the school nurse and gave me my detention slip. I smiled, I don't care, as long as I'm with her in detention. Mr Omar sighed, shaking his head.
"You know there are other ways to get her attention besides these childish acts". I glare at him.
"I don't like her that way," I told him.
He smiled, "Keep telling yourself that".
I got back to my seat.
I think I'm confused, I like her but I don't think I like her, does that make sense? Ughhhhhhhhhhhh. Besides I have a mate somewhere that I haven't found, there's just no point, I'm going to be 18 in a month (the age where werewolves find their mates) so I can't like her even if I do, there's just no point. It wouldn't work between us, besides, she hates me.
After two more boring classes, we head to the cafeteria for lunch. I meet my best friends, Luke and Jesse at the table already eating. I sat down with my food and started eating. They looked at me knowingly.
"What?" I asked.
"You know you're going to be 18 in a month and everyone knows you like Jade, so I've been thinking, what if she's your mate?" Luke asked.
"Luke, you know that's not possible, an Alpha can't have a human as a mate" I told him slowly since his head is so thick that he hasn't gotten my logic since the first 5000 times I told him when he asked me this same annoying question. Not that I care whether my mate is a werewolf or human. But it has never been on record or history that an alpha has a human for a mate.
"But she's not human technically, she is half of both human and werewolf" he replies as usual. I ignored him, wondering why the cafeteria was less noisy. Luke tapped me to look at Jade as she entered the cafeteria.
I was entranced. Have you ever had someone you fight with but still love and want to protect? You want to see only that person and vice versa, that's the way I feel about Jade. From her short curly hair, to her brown glowy skin. And her legs. Her legs! Wait what is going on? Why did she change from her trousers to that short skirt!!!!!!!! I glared at her, how could she wear that skirt. I squeeze my hands.
"Calm down dude, and you say you don't like her" Jesse smirked.
"I swear, I'm going to punch your teeth in now if you don't shut your shit" I said, turning my glare to him.
He raised his hands in surrender, "Hey hey, I told you the red paint thing was a bad idea, didn't I? She probably took the skirt from the lost and found because of you" He smirked again.
My face gets red, how could I have been so stupid. Ummmmph. I didn't know this would backfire. I swear I can hear guys murmuring about her around me.
"Wow, I want to tap that someday" A guy says dreamily. I swear, I'm going to kill someone. I hit the table and stalked out of the cafeteria, out of the school and turned into my grey coloured wolf running into the forest to cool off. I decided to stay home for the rest of the day when I got back to the pack house. I met my mum in her study. My mum is an architect, she designs all our structures in the pack.
"Hades, how was school, isn't school meant to end later though?"
I shrug, "I left earlier"
"Is this about Jade again?" She smiles knowingly at me.
"I think so" I sat beside her.
"Oh Hades, you're in love"
"No, I'm not" I scoff.
"Okay, what happened today"
I explained everything to her and she smiled. Woooooow, now that I'm saying everything that happened out loud, the more I come to the realization that I actually really like her. I put my head between my hands.
My mum smiled at me knowingly.
"But mum, this can't be possible, I'm going to be 18 soon and you know a human can't be an Alpha's mate, besides, I'm very sure she hates me" I mutter.
"Well, she's half werewolf and human," my mother tells me.
I roll my eyes, "Mum" I say
"Okay okay, I'll rest my case". She sighs.
"Talk to you later mum, I need to go sort out pack business".
I walk to my office, settle down and begin the pack's paperwork.
About three hours into this boring work, Luke and Jesse barge into my office.
"You guys should really learn how to knock before entering" I stated.
Luke smiled cheekily, sitting on one of the chairs opposite mine, crossing his legs on my table. I pushed his legs off the table violently, glaring at him.
"Ouch" he said while rubbing his shin.
"No need to be so violent". He said.
I roll my eyes and rub the tiredness from them.
I heard rapid knocks from my door, we all turned our heads towards the direction of the door and I told the person behind to come in.
One of the warriors, Callum speaks "Alpha, there were rogues at the border"
"You know what to do, kill all of them". None should be spared, I thought with anger, remembering how my dad was murdered. "Wait, what do you mean by there were rogues at the border?" I shouted.
Callum flinched "Err, I think they just wanted to leave a message".
"Alpha, you need to see this," Callum said in a serious manner.
I stood up and we went to the edge of the border and I saw a rogue alright but the rogue was a child, The child from the Loyalmoon pack that managed to escape, a paper stuck on her chest with a knife. "What the hell" I swore.
"Fuck" Luke said.
I detached the paper and the knife from her chest. A note was written on it.
"CRYSTALMOON PACK IS NEXT STOP ALPHA"
