JADE COLLINS

I could feel myself getting sleepy immediately after the needle jabbed my neck. Everything went dark and everything was in slow motion. I saw Hades screaming, holding a girl who appeared to be dead in his arms. I guess the rogues killed her.

After few minutes or was it seconds? I felt someone fling me on his shoulder like I was a rag doll and I would've fought in protest if I didn't fall asleep at that instant.

I felt something bright and warm like a gentle massage on my closed eyes and woke up with a start when I remembered what happened the night before. Hoping it was just a bad dream, I looked around and noticed that the bed I was lying on was quite different from the one at the pack house. And the windows were situated differently.

I heard a knock and a middle-aged female wolf stepped in and told me breakfast was ready. I ignored her, jumping from the bed, I took note of my surroundings noting that I was in a cabin."What am I doing here?" I finally faced her.

She smiled at me warmly.

"You're the Alpha son's mate"

My jaw dropped. "What?"

"What Alpha?" I asked.

"Alpha Rovin dear. Now off you go to the bathroom, you have to get ready for breakfast" She said while pushing me towards a door that most likely led to the bathroom.

I entered into the bathroom, not because I wanted to follow her orders but since I got here against my will, I felt it would be better to obey and secretly find a way to escape meanwhile.

I definitely couldn't be anybody's mate. I'm not a full wolf and I don't even have any characteristics of a werewolf except the fast healing thing.

I might as well be clean. I sighed while washing the dirt and grime off my body in the moderately sized bathroom with a body wash. I also decided to wash my hair even though I knew it would shrink. I wanted to be in control of one thing at least. And that is being clean all over.

I stepped out of the shower towel dried my hair to an extent. It's like this Alpha's son knew me because all my hair products were right on the Wash Hand Basin Counter.

My wide toothed soft combs. Opening the cupboard above the WHB, I saw more hair products, my toothpaste brand, my moisturiser brand, my sunscreen, other skin products that I normally use.

Thinking about it, the soap and shampoo I used while bathing, I normally use them at home. These guys really knew me.

With a sigh, I continued my morning routine because why not if not?

I would tackle the creepiness of all these later.

After I was done, I dressed up in the outfit laid out for me which was a baby pink coloured sundress. These people really knew a lot about me which was really creepy especially because I didn't know them.

My head turned towards the door when I heard another knock. In came the middle-aged female wolf from before. She had that pretty look every werewolf had but she looked kind of rough. I don't know if you get me, I'm kind of bad at describing people.

"The Alpha has invited you for breakfast" She said after a slight pause.

I looked deeply at her and said "I'm not moving and inch from here till I know exactly what's going on"

She smiled "But isn't it better to get your strength if you're going to fight? Trust me, you don't wouldn't like arguing with an empty stomach"

Thinking about it, I didn't eat much yesterday because of the rogues. Wait wait, back up real quick. These guys are rogues. Looking at the werewolf infront of me, I finally understood why she looked rough to me.

"I promise the food isn't poisoned" She shakingly said almost like she was about to cry. Looking at her closely again, I noticed she had bruises on her face which was clearing up now. What the hell is this place?

I jumped up when I heard a shout "NAMI"

I'm guessing that's her name because she looked at me practically pleading me to get out of the room.

"Yes Alpha" She said in a fake chirpy voice.

"We're coming" She practically dragged me out of the room.

Looking around house, it was more like a cabin with an attic. Very small and it probably would be cozy with the right people living here.

We finally got downstairs, and Nami forced me to sit. Breakfast looked very enticing especially because I was hungry. Before anything could be said, I scarfed down my meal, toast, eggs and bacon with tea. It was delicious not gonna lie.

I heard a chuckle " And here I thought I would have to shove the food down your throat".

I looked at the direction of the deep scratchy irritating voice. It must have looked like I was challenging him because his stare got meaner till I tore my eyes off his scary face. He had scars on almost every part of his face. Its a miracle he still has a face infact.

He continued speaking like we didn't just have a stare down "I like your personality already. This should be interesting"

"What do you want with me?" I asked.

"I see you don't like to waste time. In that case, to simply put it, you're here to be a bride

"To say my eyes almost bugged out of my head would be an understatement. Looking at him again, I couldn't imagine how I would ever stay with this intimidating man and everything about him just screamed old man. Just imagining it was so disgusting I almost got sick.

Another case is the fact that I can't be any werewolf's mate. Oh wait, that might be a disadvantage to me in this case since I have no mate, I can marry anyone and old men like these are the ones that would kidnap and marry me. The thought of this made tears come to my eyes.

Nobody has come to look for me.

I sighed. "But I'm not a werewolf"

"I don't think that matters. We're in the modern times so I can't discriminate" He replied.

"What's your name?" I blurted out after a minute of silence. The Alpha rogue looked like he was taken aback.

"Kids of these days" He said shaking his head.

"My name is Rovin, Alpha of the Moonlight pack"

He didn't look like an Alpha to me. I must've said that out loud because I heard a roar which made me jump.

Even if Rovin isn't an Alpha now, his roar showed me he totally was an Alpha and that was why Nami was scared of him. Thinking about it, nobody was at the table eating with us.

Rovin noticing how scared I was and forced himself to calm down, his eyes switched back to black from red.

"This can't be possible" I said shaking

"You literally called me a kid, how can I be your bride?"

Immediately I asked him that question, a full blown laughter came out from his mouth. Honestly his emotions are off the rocker.

"I can finally see why he likes you. My time has come and gone child, unfortunately I put my future in the hands of imbeciles and lost my chance, I wouldn't let the same thing happen with my son". He finished.

"So I'm your son's bride? Are we in the 1800's?" I asked.

"I think we've spoken long enough" He said looking at me.

"I don't even know your son" I said loudly.

"Oh yes you do child. You probably never noticed him. They never do" He said to himself and stood up.

"I presume you know the way to your room." He said pointing to the direction of the room I came out from.

He had almost gotten to the door of his room before he paused like he forgot something. "Don't even think about running away. My pack is outside and they wouldn't hesitate to attack anyone they don't know. And we wouldn't want that".

"My son is getting here tomorrow, we would have your wedding then". After his speech, he slammed his door.

My heartbeats quickened. This stupid wedding just got real so fast. I can't believe my life has been so boring and monotonous and when it was finally getting interesting, I got kidnapped to marry a tyrant's son.

Looking out of the window from the cabin, I noticed the werewolves outside. They were obviously rogues and after stumbling into one of them trying to kill Lucas, I totally understand the picture Rovin painted for me. I wouldn't like myself if I decide to escape.

I went to my room, dragging my feet on the stairs, defeated. I looked at my windows for possible escape routes unsuccessfully. The windows were quite high for me to jump from. The cabin seemed short on the outside but it's actually quite tall and it's built in such a way that no windows are close to any tree. I looked down below and I saw some rogues guarding both windows.

I sighed in defeat and lay on my bed. I may as well sleep and wake up with renewed strength to escape.

All of a sudden, I heard a rapt knock with the door opening. Nami entered, shoving me into the bathroom to get ready for the wedding.

It took me few seconds to realise the wedding was today. I must have slept thoroughly. So much for waking up to hatch an escape plan. I was placed into a beautiful white dress. With flowers on my hair. Honestly this would've been a beautiful wedding if it was with my consent.

Alpha Rovin came into my room. "You look just like your mother" He said.

"Wait, you knew my mother?" I asked, shocked because I've never seen this man in my life.

"Of course, that's why I'm doing this for my son"

Honestly, this man's communication skills are dead. I don't understand whatever he's saying.

"Don't you get it?" He continued.

"Your mother always said she was never my girlfriend but she was just playing hard to get until that good for nothing Jack got into the picture, seduced her and they got married" He said frowning.

"My dear, not taking what was mine right from the beginning was what caused all these. If only Mabel didn't die" He said sadly. Strangely, I could almost feel his pain.

I'm having mixed feelings actually.

"But was she your mate?" I asked

"Whether she was my mate or not doesn't matter child, my love for her was more than enough" He snapped.

I kind of understood where he was coming from but the point of loving someone was having them love you back. And I'm very sure my mum wouldn't love someone trying to force her to love him.

I didn't know what to say that wouldn't set the crazy Alpha off.

All of a sudden, he perked up. "Its almost noon. My son is around.

"I heard a knock on the door and a very familiar person stepped into the room. The person I called my very close friend....Ronan, stepped in.

"Hi" He said.

"I guess I should've known" I started seething.

"Rovin, Ronan." I looked at them both maliciously, I probably shouldn't have focused on Rovin's scars because he's just an older and scarier version of Ronan.

"See, I told you. You know him" Rovin said happily, ignoring my protest.

"Ronan, you wouldn't do this to me" I pleaded. How is he even a rogue? I finally understand why Hades had a bias against him. He's a backstabber.

"I'm so sorry Jade but I really like you" Ronan said.

"And that is more than enough. I'm going to dress up, I would leave you two to talk" Rovin said happily.

That Alpha is mad. I looked at his back incredulously. Are these guys kidding me?

I looked back at Ronan and finally noticed the rough edges rogues normally had. He still looked like a regular human though.

"I'm a hybrid" He blotted out. "My mother was a hybrid and my father is a werewolf as you may have noticed".

That's probably why I never noticed, coupled with the fact that I avoided him after his confession. I got a brief glimpse when he was angry at me but I didn't notice.

How could I have been so stupid?

Hades tried to warn me.

And now, nobody even knows where I am.

"Jade it's not so bad. We get to be together. Me, your best friend. The only difference is we would have to live like nomads" Ronan squatted to my level, trying to console me.

"I love you" He said drying my tears.

"If you loved me, you wouldn't force me to marry you" I said sniffing.

Ronan's hand cupping my face stilled and his eyes switched from dark brown to red.

Within the blink of an eye, he was by the door.

"I would leave you to get ready" He grunted and closed the door.

These men are crazy, I have really got to try escaping or die trying. Ronan probably wouldn't be a bad choice between him and his father but his emotions are volatile and I refuse to be a doormat.

Pushing the dresser underneath the door knob. I carried the dresser stool to the window and noticed that no guard was stationed there presently. Swiftly I opened the window but there was a burglary proof metal by the window preventing my escape. I decided to slam it in frustration and noticed a slight movement.

That movement gave me hope and I shifted continued pulling the burglary proof slowly so as to not cause a noise. It finally came off with some of the wood from the cabin and I jumped out without hesitation.

I fell and heard a crack but that didn't stop me. Even though I could see stars in my head.

I dragged my broken leg and hobbled into the forest.

After few minutes, I heard an alarm bell and that was how I knew they knew I had escaped.

This realisation made me run, fortunately, my bone just shifted, I had to push it back so I could run. I ran and ran until I got to a highway and then I succumbed to the darkness calling me.
