Chapter 177: Having My Baby?

I haven't needed to spend any time in the delivery room. Pius showed it to me months ago during my tour of the inn when I first arrived. But now, its four soothing creamy walls with the brightly painted animals and mythical creatures are the limits of my world. So is Daji. I smooth the damp hair back from her forehead as she lies on a crystalline bed, her feet up, and her expression crestfallen.

"What do you mean, it was a false alarm?" she bursts out. "I don't HAVE those. I know my body. It can't be a false alarm!"

I stroke her hair. "Easy, Daji. Pius, aren't these false alarms common in women who are in the later stages of pregnancy?"

I'm hoping he can pull some statistics out of a hat.
