Three days later, I look up from doing the monthly profit/loss statement with Dad and Gram when I hear Daji yelling, "Will you LOOK before you step?"
Rubbing my eyes to clear them after staring at columns of numbers all morning, I say to Mom and Dad, "What do you think that's all about?"
Gram shrugs and brushes a fringe of fiery curls away from her eyes. She's dyed her hair red because she always wanted to be a redhead, and it looks striking with her coloring. "Knowing this inn, it could be anything."
Now curious, I get up to go investigate.
Dad calls out, "Hurry back, we have to finish this."
In the reception area, Daji scowls at a female centaur, a delivery person holding a box of supplies we ordered. Daji kneels beside the centaur to lift her foot and inspect her hoof. "Hold still. He's got to be SOMEWHERE."
Behind the desk, Wukong rolls his eyes. "Aunt Daji, chill out."
The human slang sounds so strange coming from him.
