Chapter 20: I Don’t Have Brother Nawaki’s Ambition (2/2)

The Uchiha clan grounds were quite far from the Hokage building, but the Konoha Military Police Force wasn't as far out.

Wakaho found it strange.

If becoming a Genin required anything else beyond what he'd already done, it was probably just picking up his ninja registration card, right?

But from the direction Orochimaru was heading...

Why did it seem like... they were heading to the cemetery?

And sure enough, they were.

As they arrived at the cemetery entrance, Wakaho saw the neatly arranged tombstones in the distance and suddenly felt the urge to turn around and leave.

I mean, this version of Orochimaru shouldn't have "awakened" yet, right?

But Wakaho held back the urge to run away.

He roughly guessed what Orochimaru was aiming for.

"You mentioned your senior brother earlier."

"I think it's necessary to introduce you to someone."

"Follow me, Wakaho-kun."

After winding through the cemetery, Wakaho followed Orochimaru and eventually stopped in an area where every tombstone had the surname "Senju" on it.

Just as Wakaho expected.

In front of him was a tombstone with a photograph encased in glass, depicting a boy around ten years old with a bright and sunny smile.

It was Tsunade's younger brother, the would-be Seventh Hokage—Senju Nawaki.

This was also Orochimaru's first disciple.

"He is your senior brother. He sacrificed his life in the Second Great Ninja War."

Orochimaru crouched down and used a handkerchief to wipe the dust off Nawaki's photo.

"Pay your respects to your senior brother, Wakaho-kun."

"Respects to my senior brother." Wakaho bowed formally.

After a moment's thought, he pulled a kunai from his ninja pouch and placed it in front of the tombstone.

"This is our first meeting, and I didn't bring any gifts, so this is the most valuable thing I have. Please accept it, Senior Brother."

Orochimaru glanced at the kunai in front of the tombstone and smiled.

"Your senior brother Nawaki had a grand dream."

"He wanted to become Hokage, just like the Third Hokage, so he could protect the people of Konoha."

Orochimaru turned his gaze to Wakaho. "Wakaho-kun, what is your dream?"

Is this supposed to be the introduction phase?

Wakaho pursed his lips, his mind flashing back to the scene where Kakashi and Team 7 introduced themselves on the rooftop.

It was almost the same.

Except this wasn't on a rooftop but in a cemetery.

As for teammates... one was deceased, and the other was tentative.

"Become Hokage... I don't have the same ambition as my senior brother," Wakaho replied after some thought.

Orochimaru's eyes flickered slightly.

Dreams and ambitions... while they were the same concept to him, for others, they held distinct differences.

However, considering that everything here might be within the Third Hokage's sight, Orochimaru decided to "correct" his new disciple.

"I just want to become the head of the Uchiha clan, and by extension, the head of the Konoha Military Police Force, to ensure the safety of Konoha."

Wakaho paused before continuing, "But just keeping Konoha safe isn't enough; otherwise, there wouldn't be constant wars."

"That's why I want to make the Uchiha clan bigger and stronger, to revive its glory, and expand beyond Konoha to bring peace to the ninja world."

The more Wakaho spoke, the more excited he became, leaving no room for Orochimaru to interject. "The reason there are so many wars in the ninja world is that there's no universally recognized order."

"If there were a set of ninja world laws that everyone followed, where those who broke the law were arrested immediately, and villages that violated it were burned by the Will of Fire..."

"Then the ninja world would finally stabilize."

After all, Orochimaru isn't exactly a conventional person, so what's wrong with speaking my mind?

This was also Wakaho's third long-term plan—the Ninja World Police Force Project.

Becoming Hokage? That's way too boring.

The ninja village system shouldn't even exist.

What else can a bunch of ninjas do when gathered together besides fight wars? Make lots of babies?

It would be better to establish an order that the entire ninja world must follow.

Promote civility, maintain order, ensure fairness and justice, and achieve harmony and prosperity.

Of course, the final interpretation of the rules would be up to Uchiha Wakaho...
