The first stage of the exam wasn't quite what Wakaho remembered.
But that made sense—after all, they couldn't use the same exam questions for decades, could they?
Still, the essence of the exam remained similar.
For example, mastering the art of cheating—or rather, gathering information—could earn you points.
In Wakaho's view, the final "question of humanity" that Naruto faced during his time wouldn't appear in this era.
It was laughable... During the Third Ninja World War, Konoha faced its greatest danger, with the enemy even reaching the gates of Kikyo Pass.
In such a situation, would they still prioritize testing a candidate's humanity when selecting those who could fight?
Then how would they justify the death of White Fang?
"Hmm? White Fang?"
Wakaho rubbed his chin. "At this point in time, White Fang should be carrying out that mission, right?"
If he had the chance, he could suggest to Fugaku to support White Fang.
The system had already responded clearly.
Completing an S-rank mission seemed to unlock a relationship module, possibly allowing him to establish some kind of vassal system.
Though he wasn't sure if there would still be missions after completing an S-rank one—SS-rank? SSS-rank?
Anyway, having more allies would never be a disadvantage.
"Hmm... Maybe White Fang could marry into the Uchiha by finding a widow within the clan. But... that's probably impossible, right?"
Uchiha Sakumo? Uchiha Kakashi? That name's a bit long.
It seemed unlikely that White Fang would agree, given that the Hatake clan was already down to just him.
"I wonder if Fugaku has the guts for something like that."
"If not, then I'll have to step in personally."
While these thoughts raced through Wakaho's mind, he made his way to the second exam site.
"This exam shouldn't be too different from the future ones."
Looking at the forest before him, Wakaho felt confident in his chances.
What he didn't know was that the two old men watching from the crystal ball were already in a heated argument because of him.
"This is cheating! Monkey! That evil Uchiha doesn't deserve to be a Chūnin!"
"But you just said he was following the rules!"
"That's different!" Danzo slammed the table. "Now he's breaking the rules! Cheating is not allowed, and he should be disqualified!"
The Third Hokage was livid. "This exam itself is designed to test information-gathering skills. What on earth are you talking about, Danzo?"
"If he dares to cheat in the exam today, he'll dare to steal Konoha's classified information for the Uchiha tomorrow. It's in their blood—their inherent evil, Monkey!"
"He's just a child, Danzo!"
"Monkey... You've disappointed me. Have you forgotten our teacher's teachings?"
"How many times do I have to say it? He's just a child, Danzo!"
"But he carries the evil blood of the Uchiha!"
"You're going too far, Danzo!"
"No, you're too weak, Monkey. A brat like him doesn't deserve to be a ninja!"
"I am the Hokage!"
"You'll regret this!"
Ninjas really did have remarkable physical endurance.
Even after all that yelling, neither of them seemed to suffer from high blood pressure or a heart attack.
This time, the two old men glared at each other for a full minute, neither backing down.
The Third Hokage was so focused on his argument with Danzo that he didn't even pay attention to the results being announced by the exam proctor in the crystal ball.
In Wakaho's exam room, aside from him, only two other teams passed the exam.
The pass rate wasn't even fifty percent...
One of those who passed was Might Guy, who, drawing on his many years of experience as both a Genin and a repeat exam taker, managed to write down over thirty pieces of information by himself.
