Ernest raised his head to look at Grace in confusion. His pair of big eyes were wet from the tears, making him look more adorable. He was a pretty child, thus his eyes were able to melt people's hearts.

Grace hugged him tightly and gently caressed his back.

"Mommy, I'll take care of you in the future. Both Gary and I will take care of you." Ernest struggled out from Grace's embrace, saying, "Mommy, wait for me."

Heinz felt comforted but sour at the same time. "Hey kiddo, taking care of Mommy is my duty."

"You are not doing it well," Ernest spat, and then, he was gone.

Heinz felt hurt again and he looked at Grace.

Grace was also gazing back at him.

"Are you happy?" Heinz asked.

"I'm happy," Grace nodded. "He has been so protective of me instead of blaming me. I'm glad but guilty at the same time."

"As the saying goes, blood is thicker than water," Heinz said.
