Gary's heart lurched as he looked at Celeste in astonishment. "You knew?" he asked, his eyes wide.
Celeste pursed her lips, her heart aching. "Yes. I know that you gave Cindy a pint of your blood to save her life."
Although she kept her tone light, her heart ached for him.
Gary had done so much for her.
For her sake, he had repaid her debt of gratitude to Cindy for raising her.
She felt as if a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.
"Gary, I don't owe her anything anymore. Thank you for doing that for me. I'm finally free from her. So please, don't hurt yourself for my sake in the future," Celeste pleaded.
