In this world, no koi could have it worse than her.
She had cleaned her office desk and went to the pantry to pour herself a cup of hot water.
As soon as she stepped out, she saw Shen Mingyue coming from the other direction and stopped in her tracks.
"Director Shen."
She stood demurely to the side, her crimson dress a painful sting to Shen Mingyue's eyes. Her fair hand held the handle of the glass cup, enhancing her delicate appearance. Shen Mingyue's face was cold as she sized her up from head to toe, her gaze sharp as a knife, seemingly ready to peel away her flesh, layer by layer.
Shen Wanxing let her scrutinize.
"Shen Wanxing, do you really have to stay with the Shens and oppose me? If you can't secure the collaboration with He Corporation, watch how I deal with you."
"Director Shen, why do you harbor such malice toward me?"
Shen Wanxing slightly tilted up her chin, her delicate jawline on display, her eyes and brows tinged with a hint of mirth, "Director Shen, we all work for the Shens, there's no need for this hostility, is there?"
Shen Mingyue's face turned ashen, rage boiling in her veins. She couldn't control her temper every time she saw Shen Wanxing.
She reached out to snatch the glass from Shen Wanxing's hand, intending to splash the water onto the vixen's face to teach her a lesson. But as soon as she gripped the cup, she felt something was off. Shen Wanxing raised her hand to catch it, as if accidentally nudging the cup towards Shen Mingyue.
"Ah!"
"What's wrong, Director Shen!"
Shen Wanxing cried out in feigned panic, as the scalding water was spilled all over Shen Mingyue's hand, visibly reddening and swelling her skin.
The one who schemes, ultimately schemes against oneself.
"Director Shen!"
"My god, Director Shen's hand has been scalded, hurry to the hospital."
People from the design department sycophantically rushed forward, while Shen Wanxing stepped back with a hint of a smile on her face, saying, "If Director Shen is thirsty, she could have just told me. There was no need to fight over a water cup. What to do now? It's the right hand that's burned."
"To the hospital!"
"Director Shen's hand is insured, quickly now! Or what about the new products for next quarter? Our design department relies on Director Shen!"
"Director Shen has fainted!"
Shen Wanxing was pushed aside by these lackeys, watching as they carried the unconscious Shen Mingyue away. This probably had nothing to do with the burn, more likely due to overindulgence.
Half the design department emptied out.
She felt pity for the broken glass cup and then sat down to go through the collaboration project again.
The Shens wanted to break into the bridal market, pushing their bridal gowns through He Corporation's international expo, no longer satisfied with traditional bridal dress designs. But in Ning City, Woon Corporation specialized in bridal gowns—a major competitor. The Shens were late starters; how could they compare to those who specialized?
She slowly flipped through Shen Mingyue's design works—glamorous yet vulgar.
In these three years, she had made little progress.
Woon Corporation's bridal gowns had made a name internationally, with a variety of styles becoming hot sellers each year. Even if Shen Mingyue managed to secure a spot at the expo with this project, she'd still be overshadowed and put to shame by Woon Corporation in the same venue. Then it would be clear who was the embarrassment.
Shen Wanxing's left hand deftly twirled the lining pen before switching to her right.
Looking down, she noticed the tremor in the lines drawn by her right hand.
A newbie... should have this standard, shouldn't they?
She immersed herself in the basic drawing practice, starting with drawing lines. Other designers passing by glanced curiously but soon walked away disdainfully, whispering to each other.
"I think our collaboration is doomed. She can't even draw a steady line."
"Really? Then why would President He choose her?"
"Just look at that face of hers..." Getting closer for a detailed view, even a woman could get distracted.
Ignoring what they said, Shen Wanxing knew only that picking up the pen again and letting it flow across the paper was utterly satisfying.
