The little girl raised her brows, confused. "Kael, what do you mean side by side—"
Slowly, Kael's grin faded into nothing, like it was never there, replaced by a blank stare.
"Kael, are you okay?" the little girl asked, shifting her gaze to the demon. "Is he alright?"
Sodus remained calm, her eyes on Kael, who looked like he'd snapped.
"I don't know what's wrong with Kael—"
The little girl's words got stuck in her throat when Kael tightened his grip around her neck and, with great force, pushed her back against the wall.
"Ugh," the girl coughed out blood, the corners of her eyes heating up with tears. "Kael... what are you doing?"
Kael pushed her head to the side where he'd stabbed earlier. It was all healed now.
"Why did you destroy the veil of time?" Kael asked, not mincing words.
The little girl started crying. "Kael... please stop," she pleaded, her voice trembling.
