25: Morgan's POV:

"Oh my goodness! What happened here?" Sabrina gasped as she walked into my office, right through where a door was a few hours ago.

I looked up at her and said nothing.

"Come on," She said with a sigh. She walked up to my desk, a bag of takeout food in her hands. Her eyes were filled with anxiety as she stared at me. "Can we talk, please?"

"About what?" I said, still bitter. I went back to my work, glancing over the reports laid out in front of me.

"I talked to dad, and he helped me understand some things. Can I sit, please?"

"Whatever."

She sat down and slid the bag over to me. "Morgan, please, can you at least look at me?"

I raised my head and met her eyes. "You have two minutes. As you can see, I'm very busy right now."

She nodded and shifted in her seat. "Dad told me you were married to Mr Fontaine, and that it ended very terribly. I'm deeply sorry, Morgan. I wouldn't have signed those papers if I knew it was going to be really tough on you."

"Are you saying I'm weak?"

"What no! Of course not!"

"But that's what you're implying. That's what everyone is implying. Because I had some history with Dante I can't work with him. Oh my emotions are all over the place. Oh I'm still hung up on the past. Oh I'm not efficient enough, I need to be replaced."

"That's not it!" Sabrina suddenly yelled.

I froze. Her voice was so loud for someone who always talked in a gentle manner.

"Morgan, that's not what I'm talking about!" She leaned forward, and her eyes burned with a light. "You fail to see how amazing you are! All you focus on is your flaws!"

I narrowed my eyes at her. "I don't appreciate your free therapy session, Sabrina."

"I'm not giving...." She sighed and rubbed her temples. "I'm sorry! Your reasons are valid for not wanting to work with Fontaine and I completely ignored that!"

"You didn't know." I grumbled.

"Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that I hurt you."

I felt my glare soften. "It wasn't you who hurt me. It was Fontaine."

She reached out and grabbed my hands. I felt uncomfortable with the touch, but I didn't shy away from it.

"I really really want to make this work, okay? I want to be your sister. Yes I'm late by a good number of years but....I still want to try."

"You're doing a terrible job at it." I said with an eye roll. "I guess what they said about eldest sisters being annoying is true after all."

She looked lost for a while then started laughing. "Sure, I have a lot to learn, but that's all part of the process."

"It's going to be a very long time." I said more to myself than to her.

She pulled back and turned to the door. "What happened here?"

I shrugged. "Someone kicked down my door." I didn't say who. I think she understood, because she nodded.

"I brought you lunch. Dad said you really liked egg rolls from that Japanese restaurant."

Dad you betrayer. Selling out my secrets.

"You two must talk a lot huh?" I eyed Sabrina as I took the bag. I laid out the takeout boxes on the desk.

"Yes. A lot. He's helping me know as much as I can about the company." She said with a happy smile.

"Super." I said sarcastically.

My sarcasm was lost on her. I took a piece of egg roll and bit into it. It was delicious, as always.

"So, what are you going to do about Fontaine?" She asked after a few seconds of silence.

"I don't know, and even if I did, I wouldn't talk about it. "

My phone started to ring. I picked it up, an unknown number. I had an inkling I knew who was calling. I picked the call up and brought it to my ear.

"Hello?"

"Pack a bag. We have a flight on Friday."

The delicious taste of the egg rolls turned to something unpleasant on my tongue.

"I blocked you, how many more numbers are you going to call me with?" I asked.

Sabrina raised her brows and mouthed the word. "Fontaine?" I nodded.

"As many I can get, Morgan. You can continue blocking them all but frankly that's not going to stop me."

"I could have you arrested for stalking."

"Arresting your business partner? Hardly a smart move, Morgan."

He mocking me. I can hear it plain as day.

My stomach from queasy with hatred as I recalled that just a few hours ago, he had seen me with tears in my eyes. And even though I wasn't crying over him, it still made me so angry that he had to see me so vulnerable. And my door is yet to be fixed too!

"I can't do Friday." I said, controlling my anger by choosing to speak calmly. "I have an appointment."

"Nora synced your schedule with me, you're not busy on Friday."

Nora. That little..

I inhaled deeply and directed my anger to the one responsible for it. "Nora doesn't know what goes on in my life outside of the office. Friday is not free for me, period."

"Morgan, this is a very important trip. We have to visit some suppliers and get started on the sample pieces. Immediately."

"I don't care if we're to meet the queen. I'm not going anywhere on Friday."

There was a beat of silence then he spoke again.

"You're meeting Winston, aren't you?"

I hung up the call and blocked the number. "Fucker." I grumbled.

"I'm guessing everything is not okay," Sabrina said.

"It's peachy."

She laughed. "My goodness, you're so funny."

"I've been called bitchy, I'm not so sure about funny."

My phone started to ring again. Another unknown number.

If only he had put in this much amount of effort when we were married. Then maybe things won't end up the way it did with us.

My heart hardened again and I turned back to my food. I'm Not changing my mind. Ever.
