After considering for a while, Le Xaan walked up to one of them nearest to him.
"Buddy, may I ask you a thing?" Le Xaan took out a silver coin and offered it to the man.
"What's up?" The man stared at him with an alert expression.
"I just want to know why there are so many people here looking for something?"
Le Xaan did not hide his confusion on his face.
"If you don't know the truth, why are you here? Step aside!"
The man gave a contemptuous look as if he were looking at an idiot.
As the man was about to turn and walk away, Le Xaan retrieved a golden coin from his waist pouch and presented it along with the silver coin to the arrogant man.
Upon seeing the gold, the man paused in his steps and took the coins from Le Xaan. Then, he sized up Le Xaan, whose dressing style telegraphed his affluent background, before realizing that Le Xaan was not here to vie for the last slice of cake.
"Alas, why do you come here if you do not know what happened?
The story was that many powerful people had been here to exorcise spirits last night, yet half through their battle, a precious treasure popped up. Then, the scene went into chaos. Eventually, one of them fled along with the treasure, and the rest pursued him away. Probably, their struggle triggered the explosion and turned this place into ruins.
We are here to search for the inheritances of those who died in that combat."
"So that's how it is." Le Xaan was enlightened now.
However, He still fell short of the details of the battle here last night. But since so many people were drawn here, it must be something significant beyond imagination.
"These people seemed to be the insiders. And people like Deumu Wann and Youny Geey had come to Gourian City with an unknown intention. Perhaps, they possess strength that matches that of a Ghost Spirit." Le Xaan pondered and let the man go. Then, he sauntered around for some more time, discovering some black masses reminiscent of melted steel.
Following that, he did not go on lingering but returned home straight away.
Just as he walked through the gate of the Mansion, a servant rushed up and reported to him,
"Young Master Xaan, Miss Deumu has come to visit you and was now waiting in the drawing room."
"Deumu Wann is here?" Le Xaan was stunned. As he thought back to the sentence, Deumu had said while they met, he was gripped by curiosity and took grand strides toward the drawing room.
The moment he trod into the drawing hall, he saw Deumu Waan, who was clad in her unique, bold outfit choice, a trademark of her. In this day and age, even the loose women in brothels rarely dressed themselves as boldly as Deumu Wann did.
She, settling herself into the chair, was holding a white porcelain cup and taking sips of the tea. Her bamboo conical hat was now placed on the table. The knots on her gossamer coat were untied to reveal her tight-fitting combat attire.
It was so close-fitting, accentuating every and each curve on her body, that it resembled her second layer of skin. Her bosom and butt were highlighted the most, making her appear somewhere near naked. The surrounding guards and maidservants were now lowering their heads with a blushed face.
"Miss Deumu, long time no see. I wonder what do you mean by what you said last night? " Le Xaan asked straightforwardly. He waved his hand, signaling for the guards and maidservants to take their leave. And then he shot his gaze at Deumu Wann.
She chuckled a little and looked up at Le Xaan with a curious gaze. She said, "Yong Master Xaan, I'm glad to see that you are currently safe and sound, surviving through the great disaster. Congratulations! From now on, you don't have to worry anymore. Gourian City is now a safe place."
"What do you mean?" Le Xaan squinted. He could tell that Deumu Wann was an insider.
"Simple as I say." Deumu Wann put down the cup as she rose from the chair.
As she got to her feet, her body was now fully exhibited before Le Xaan's eyes. Her ample breasts were quivering slightly. The outlines of her nipples and the secret place between her thighs were discernible.
Deumu Wann said with a giggle, "Since there are no one else here and you have survived the events not long ago, you have the qualifications to know some truths."
"I'm all ears." Le Xaan was now intrigued. Fortunately, Deumu Wann was in no mood to hold back from telling him what she meant by saying that sentence.
Deumu Wann placed her hand on her full and round bosom and said with a laugh, "Given your survival, I surmise that you have already cross swords with Ghost Spirits, right? Those filthy, eerie spirits are no easy things to deal with. Without some special means, death awaits any ordinary person once he becomes a hunt target of Ghost Spirits."
"Ghost Spirits... Miss Deumu, could you lay out the things more clearly? Where are these Ghost Spirits from? What's their aim?" Le Xaan asked in a deep voice.
"Don't rush..." Deumu walked to the side of Le Xaan and extended her hand to stroke his face.
Her caressing was soft and tender. Le Xaan felt as though a piece of gossamer had brushed across his face, which now felt a little itchy and tingly. She was flirtatiously teasing Le Xaan as if they were a loving couple.
"Miss Deumu, let's move on. Tell me the truths." Le Xaan took a step back to dodge her stroking hand. "Since you specifically come and look for me, you must have something to discuss with me, right?"
Deumu Wann chuckled with a tender voice as her curvy body quivered a little.
Then, she suddenly pressed herself to Le Xaan, her upper body clinging tightly to Le Xaan's. Le Xaan could now smell her soft, sweet breaths.
"Young Master Xaan, you are indeed no ordinary person. Do you know that, at first glance of you, I felt like having a crush on you?
Back then, I gave it a try, approaching you and doing you a favor, but I had never expected that you would be able to survive till now. This is such a surprise...
You must never know, after I knew you're still alive, even when I was in a fierce battle, I was still solicitous of you..." These words were full of longing and passion. With them, she might have already wormed her way into any man's heart.
However, Le Xaan was an exception. He suppressed his desires of lust and kept his composure while saying, "Miss Deumu, are you now falling in love with me?"
"Who knows?" Deumu Wann took a step back with a smile and then slowly spun herself in a complete circle. Her bosom trembled slightly due to its weight.
"I am in love with you, for sure. The sight of you reminded me of the man I once loved the most... Unfortunately, he died an early death. Even if I hold deep affection for him in my heart, I can go nowhere." At this point in her speech, a touch of sadness and self-abasement flashed across her face.
Le Xaan was certain that he had seen it --- the self-abasement, which hinted at her emotions of low esteem. It actually appeared on Deumu Wann's face. Evidently, the man she mentioned was necessarily someone with an exalted strength and status, amounting to a formidable figure.
"So, Miss Deumu, can you tell me what Ghost Spirits are on earth? And who are you people?"
Deumu laughed and slipped to behind Le Xaan before wrapping her slender arms around his waist.
"Young Master Xaan, every time I meet you, I can not help but recall him. Sigh..." She released a long sigh with a tangible trace of sorrow and regret.
"Young Master Xaan, do you know why, in this day and age when ghosts, spirits, demons are infesting all over the world, the majority of ordinary people can live in peace? You know, over the past eighteen years, you have lived serenely and comfortably."
Upon hearing this, Le Xaan's gaze froze. Something dawned on him as he aired his thoughts, "Is there some people who have protected us?"
"Well... Yes, you can refer to it as protection... This world is of such hardships and strifes. We have to give people some hope and comfort." Deumu Wann shook her head lightly. Then, she raised her head to sniff behind Le Xaan's neck as her face grew bright red. She seemed to have a fire of lust burning inside her now.
"Let me tell you the truth: this world is under the control of two factions."
"Which two you're referring to?"
"Demonic Powers and Ancient Families." Deumu Wann extended two fingers. "Demonic Factions were consisted of demons, spirits, and ghosts,, including the Ghost Spirits that you have already come across. As for Ancient Families, people like me and Youny Geey are all members of some Ancient Families. We're natural-born spirits exorcists with our inherent strength."
"Inherent strength? Don't you need to cultivate as your strength grows?" Le Xaan's heart sank, holding onto the last shred of hope.
"No, not all at..." Deumu Wann said with a smile, "I know what's on your mind, Young Master Xaan. Unfortunately, in this world, no cultivation methods that enable people to fight against those disgusting things exist. As members of Ancient Families, we don't need any cultivation methods.
What we are training is the innate strength within our bodies. We only need to muster this strength to combat demons and spirits. Ordinary folks are just ordinary folks. Nothing can change this fact, forever ... "
Le Xaan fell silent.
This was something that he hated to hear the most.
Before long, Deumu Wann continued, "Remeber, the dominant class in this world consists of only the two factions: Demonic Powers and Ancient Families. Our strength is endowed by heaven, far greater than that of ordinary people. The disparity of strength between us and you ordinary people is huge beyond compare... With our inherent strength, we are unparalleled by you, even considering the weakest among us."
"I don't believe that ordinary people had no chance to match you." Le Xaan shook his head.
"Young Master Xaan, you look adorable..." Deumu Wann said with a faint chuckle, "You have to know, the air in this world is composed of nothing like Spiritual Qi as described in those fictions. We can only bank on our strength to fight for everything.
As for the inner body Qi of martial arts practitioners, it is transformed from the food they digest. Our strength, as members of Ancient Families, is derived from our bloodline. The disparity is innate..."
She released her embrace of Le Xaan and trod to before him, stretching her hand out to lightly stroke his muscular chest.
"Not long ago, two powers in Gourian City were wrestling with each other for a precious treasure. One of the two, which manipulated Ghost Spirits, picked your Le family and the Xavir family as its ceremonial offerings."
"Miss Deumu, would you like to tell me what's the force' name?" Le Xaan asked hastily. He was now spirited, knowing that this was a piece of information very crucial.
"Rollerson Prefecture." Deumu Wann leaned over as she settled her head onto Le Xaan's shoulder. "It is called Rollerson Prefecture, a longtime Demonic Faction power that had been entrenched in Gourian City.
A large number of demons and spirits were under its control. They had selected your father, the head of your Le family, as a sacrifice. To obtain that treasure, Rollerson Prefecture was in dire need of a staggering volume of sacrifices beyond your wildest imagination... "
"Oh? But my father is still alive. Will the Rollerson Prefecture come and pester us once more?" Le Xaan asked.
"Hee, hee, hee... If they come, Young Master Xaan, you can ask Wann for help... as long as you give me some pleasure, I don't mind lending you a helping hand or simply saving your life." Deumu Wann suddenly said with a chortle.
"Miss Deumu, you must be joking." Le Xaan evaded her stroking hand and turned to face her. "I wonder if you still have some inner body Qi cultivation methods on hand, not the body-maintenance's type."
He wasn't sure whether Deumu's words were true, but if he could glean some more sets of inner body Qi cultivation methods from her, this meeting could be considered productive.
"Inner body Qi cultivation methods? What's the use of that sort of things?" Deumu adjusted her long, smooth hair and held up her chest to Le Xaan. "Qi cultivation methods will not bring us any fun. Why not go into the bedroom with me so that we can play some interesting games..."
"Miss Deumu, you're joking once again. What prices do I have to pay to obtain that type of Qi cultivation methods? Please tell me straightforward." Le Xaan asked in a deep voice.
"Prices? No. I am not lacking in money. But Wann doesn't have the combat-oriented inner body Qi cultivation methods, either. To me, they are no more useful than the body-maintenance ones. In comparison to longevity-extension effects, the petite combat boost they granted was not worth my arduous training.
But... Wann has a good idea for you."
"What?"
"Young Master Xaan, if you are set on learning some of that type, I suggest that you join the sects under the banner of Ancient Families. These sects are formed by ordinary folks as you and house the combat-oriented Qi cultivation methods for the members to cultivate in. You can select one among them to join. Or Wann can simply recommend a sect for you. How does it sound?" Deumu said in a soft voice.
"Oh, Miss Deumu, don't bother. But maybe I have to ask you for some intelligence on the sects nearby." Le Xaan was in no mood to be polite with Deumu Wann. Although he had no idea why she thought highly of him, he was not shy about asking her for help. Several months ago, Deumu Wann had already done him a favor by selling him a Qi cultivation method, so what's the big deal about asking her to provide some more help?
"Alright. Wann will send those pieces of information to you soon." Deumu Wann said with a smile. At the moment, her eyes were misty. She stretched out her hand and reached it into Le Xaan's clothes.
"Miss Deumu, please remember to respect yourself and others!" Le Xaan was also aroused a little now, but he decided against having an affair with this flirtatious woman, who was enshrouded in mysteries. Moreover, Deumu Wann seemed to treat him as a substitute for another man. Supposing the woman someday broke up with him, would he be put into misery? She seemed to be far stronger than him for the time being, after all.
"Call me Wann, please, please..." Her watery eyes were transfixed on him, and her cheeks flushed with heat. Apparently, she now had a flame of lust blazing inside her.
She then reached into Le Xaan's abdomen.
"Miss Deumu." Le Xaan grabbed hold of her hand. "If you really takes me as a replacement, you are cheating yourself and disrespecting your own body."
"Disrespect?" Deumu Wann was dumbfounded. Then, she lowered her head and fell silent.
A while later, she suddenly let out a long sigh.
"Yes, you're right... But, in the past, I was not the person I am now..." Suddenly, she seemed to lose her interests in flirting with Le Xaan.
Le Xaan took a couple of steps back. Without a word, he just stared at her calmly.
"In this region, the most powerful sect is Scarlet Whale Sect. Some of the sect's exclusive Qi cultivation methods are not bad. If you want them, just go and have a look. But this sect couldn't be deemed as a large sect. If Wann has the opportunity in the future, Young Master Xaan, I wouldn't mind taking you along to Central Land, where you will discover many sects far stronger than Scarlet Whale Sect. "
"Thank you, Miss Deumu. I will go look for Scarlet Whale sect first. As for the days to come, they seem far off." Le Xaan bowed to Deumu Wann with clasped hands while secretly carving the name 'Scarlet Whale Sect' into his memory.
"Why are you still referring to me that way? Pretending that you don't know how my body feels to the touch?" Deumu Wann stared at Le Xaan with a look of reproach.
Le Xaan was dazed by her words. Just as he was about to deny it, he suddenly found Qiki sneakily watching the scene from an unlatched window. Now, she was gaping with wide eyes.
At the moment, he and Deumu Wann looked like a scene straight out of a romantic movie. Deumu Wann's hand was placed upon his underbelly while his hand was gripping onto hers. And the two of them were pressed closely to each other.
"Well. I won't tease you anymore. I have some business to attend to, so long." Deumu Wann took a few steps back and tucked away the smile on her face.
"Young Master Xaan... Just be honest with me. Do you believe that Wann is a sinister, slutty woman?" She seemed to be holding onto the last shred of hope for some baffling reasons while asking this question. Gazing at Le Xaan, she appeared to be trying to get a negative answer out of him.
Le Xaan is now at a loss for words.
Deumu Wann had helped him twice and given him such valuable information. How could he comment on her as 'sinister' or 'slutty' or something like that?
He was a man who knew how to return kindness. He would repay anybody who did him a favor. Therefore, he didn't know how to reply to Deumu Wann.
Wrestling with her words, Le Xaan sized up Deumu Wann attentively.
Though dressed in a sexy outfit, her face currently had a touch of softness and freshness, making her look like a well-behaved girl next door who was timidly asking if she had done anything wrong.
"Miss Wann, I don't think so. You're not that bad. Every person has their own style while walking the earth. You're just more audacious than most people." Le Xaan meant these words sincerely. On Earth, in his previous life, there was no lack of people who were bolder than Deumu Wann. Some of them even went so far as to upload photographs or videos of you-know-what.
All throughout Le Xaan's response, Deumu was staring intently at Le Xaan.
She discovered that, to her surprise, Le Xaan's expression was genuinely sincere. He appeared not to be comforting her but rather to truly mean what he said.
He seemed to believe that it was her entitlement. His attitude was nonchalant, completely different from those of the people brought face-to-face with the same question of hers.
"You..."
A complex emotion surfaced on her face. She sensed something strange budding in her heart.
"Although I don't know why you are searching for Qi cultivation methods, I have two sets on hand now. Here they are. Take them." She lowered her head and took out two manuals out of her sleeve before putting them on the table.
"Wann now has some matters to attend to, so farewell." The moment this sentence escaped her lips, she turned and ran away.
A while later, Le Xaan jolted back to his senses and immediately attempted to catch up to her. But after he rushed out of the door, he was only met with the empty yard. In a fleeting moment, Deumu Wann disappeared with no traces.
Le Xaan was dumbstruck, standing rooted to his spot.
After quite some time, he went back into the drawing room and took up the two booklets. Their covers respectively read: "Evergreen Pine Chant" and "Extreme Harmony Guidance".
They were the two Qi cultivation methods he did not select when he first traded with Deumu. From the looks of it, Deumu only had these three ones on hand. Perhaps she had dealt with Le Xaan last time just for fun or with other complex intentions.
