The following morning Rice left his apartment and went to work. Grabbing donuts on the way.
When he arrived at The HQ he walked through the doors, grabbed the recruit elevator pass and hit the elevator.
Unlike normal where he could ride the hellrazer elevator. He ahd to ride the normal one, or he would die in the hallrazer elevator. Dropping forty stories a little faster than normal was a slight strain. How about a hundred and twenty? Death.
He would die, that's like trying to jump off a highrise building and remain intact when you hit the pavement. he could go maybe four or five stories. In the hellrazer elevator it didnt go as fast as if gravity pulled it down so it stretched it out..
But the hundred and twenty stories would be like trying to survive a drop eight times or more that whay he could at max handle.
Not worth it, it took a while. But he eventually reached the bottom floor.
There a large swirl of magma bubbled and popped in a half slanted portal frame lit up with large hellish letters.
Interestingly three of them resonated with his tattooes. He has only been to hell once, but he has seen this portal twice. This would the the third time.
The first time he entered hell, he took the exam to become a hellrazer. Becoming a two letter after.. a terrible time.
The second time he has seen this portal is when he became a three letter. He didn't need to be in hell for that. just near the portal.
In Fact the first few last stories of the hellrazer HQ siphoned energy from this portal to power equipment needing hell energy. This includes the method to apply tattooes, the training grounds, the exam grounds for non hellrazers and what not.
The exam rooms would apply light pressure on non hellrazers to test their will, minds and bodies. If it was acceptable. Then they were sent to hell to take the real exam.
Whilst Rice thought about this he came back to the present. When they were preparing to go to hell.
Yeniver glanced at Rice for a moment. "We are going to a place where the leadership of hellrazer meets in hell. there will be twenty-four others. Do not speak to them, be quiet and if anyone attempts to challenge you, return the favor.."
Yeniver looked away after discreetly saying this. Rice squinted his eyes.. huh.. okay? Not like I wasn't going to do that before..
They slowly walked into the swirling magma, Rice first. A sense of volcanic heat rippled past them, to a normal person in moments. They would be sweating profusely. even beginning to burn. Which is why this gate was the furthest from the depths of hell. Can't have recruits die on the way to the exams.
To Rice and Yeniver. It felt warm and uncomfortably humid. Even if there was no moisture really. It really didn't matter. The place was meant to torture any soul that entered it. Those with hell energy were largely spared, but not entirely.
Unless you were a demon or a stronger letter your gonna suffer In some way. There was no way around it. The environment was hostile.
This didn't bother the pair though. It was a background noise to them. It's the way the other half of Dezer is built that throws them through loops.
Yes, hell and dezer are parts of the same coin. Dezer were in both places. Except there was a difference in hell. They were on a seemingly crumbling platform. Below them was just a crimson hue. No end in sight. They were on the 'roof' of hell. Spires, towers and other structure spanned downwards. Instead of up.
In other words hell was the upside down version of Dezer. Here in hell you descended to 'climb' the ladder.
Confusing and disorienting? Exactly. Welcome to hell
hell Wasnt just confusing. It had its own dynamics there were infact more than just demons roaming here. Supernaturals, mortal men, beast. It can get lively.
Alot of cultist often settle here. Their practices like clockwork. Flowing water in a small stream.
When they arrived at the meeting place. Rice couldnt help but have a bad feeling.
Ahead of them was the printing press spire. Its not the news paper. No here they give you your first letters. Naturally when entering he could hear it. Screams, alot of them. Yes the exam is cruel. It test every part of you to their limits.
In here, you dont play games. That'll get you killed. Thats why hellrazers doesnt have too many in their ranks. You have to sign a waiver before coming here, stating that they are not responsible for your torture and death. Because.. after all, you decided to go to hell and take a test for enforcing contracts.
Those who barely pass get one letter, those who pass get two letter. Doesn't matter how well you did. As long as you reach the threshold where you can handle and keep the energy. Then your that letter.
Youd ask why cant anyone gain three letter this way? Well that's simple. To become a three letter you need to be in the force for a long time. Need to have experience and time to adjust. experience and time is the key here.
Infact In dezer city, the rough estimate of three letters ranges in the few thousands.
Dezer has been around for a long time so it's natural they manage to gather this amount.
Yet when you compare the total hellrazer pop to dezer city. It'll be uncommon maybe semi rare to ever see a hellrazer. You might see first and second letters like this. Three letters are rare encounters. Anything above three letter doesn't align with the success rates.
Infact not even Rice isnt clear on four letter promotions.
Yeniver and Rice enter the elevator. which quickly descends. because of how the tower is built. You see the exam halls. Then they vanish and when the elevator stops they are in an empty room. With a stage at the other end. As one fo the last Rice enters after Yeniver quietly taking a stance in formation. About six paces from another hellrazer.
The more he looks at it the more he feels a sinking feeling.. this doesn't look like some meeting this looks like a-
"Welcome all"
