Chapter 11 Power Outage

Jiang Mi walked out of the study and saw a man in his thirties standing at the door of his house. He had a slicked-back hair, wore a suit and had a smile on his face. He was holding a cell phone in his hand and talking to his mother who went to open the door.

"Add me." Jiang Mi pressed the phone his mother took out and handed over his own phone.

The man in the suit's eyes lit up when he saw Jiang Mi. After he glanced at her calmly, his smile became even more pronounced.

After joining the group, Jiang Mi found that there were already more than a hundred people in the group. It seemed that there were more than just one family, and quite a few people had joined the group.

The messages in the group scrolled very quickly, and dozens of messages popped up just by taking a casual glance.

"Also, could you please tell me how much food your family has now?" The man in the suit took out another folder and asked gently.

Jiang Mi narrowed his eyes slightly, pulled the corners of his lips and said lightly: "This house has just been renovated. My family and I came here to stay for two days. We didn't stock up on food. Our family is still worried. I don't know when the government can send people to rescue."

The man in the suit was taking notes while listening. After listening, he said with a smile: "It's okay. We have to trust the country. Besides, neighbors are helping each other now. If you have no food at home, you can tell us in the group and exchange it with other supplies, right?"

Jiang Mi said a few perfunctory polite words and sent the person away.

The mother and daughter returned to the sofa and sat down. Mother Jiang thought about the two bags of rice and flour in the kitchen and the various vegetables, meats and fruits in the refrigerator. She poked Jiang Mi's arm, coughed twice and said, "Hey, girl, we have so much food at home, why do you say that?"

Having suffered for half his life and being kind-hearted, Jiang's mother felt a little guilty for telling such a lie, as if her family members were selfish and unwilling to help.

Jiang Mi understood, as she had been like that before, but what she got in return was endless greed.

"Mom, there are four people in our family. How many days can those things last? And you see the typhoon is so strong. We don't know when the water and electricity will be cut off. What will we eat then?" Jiang Mi comforted her slowly. Mother Jiang thought about it and realized that it was right. She began to worry about what to do if the water and electricity were cut off.

Just as she finished speaking, the TV screen went black. Jiang's mother was shocked and hurried to check. After a while, she said worriedly, "You're right. There's no electricity. How can we cook?"

It was normal to have water and power outages. Jiang Mi smiled and got up and went into the study, pretending to move a small household generator from the study but actually from her own space, and the power was restored to normal.

"When we were renovating, the voltage here was unstable, so I bought a small one as a backup. I didn't expect it would come in handy."

Jiang's father turned a blind eye to her words and smiled as he cooperated with his wife in praising his daughter for her ability and good luck.

At around ten o'clock in the evening, after his parents had gone to bed, Jiang Mi stood in front of the living room window sill and looked at the outermost layer of glass. He saw that tiny cracks had begun to appear on it, caused by the rubble blown up by the strong wind.

But she was not too worried because this was the outermost layer and there were four more layers of glass.

Moreover, the typhoon will soon pass, and the tsunami will come tomorrow.

Another good night's sleep.

The consequence of the power outage in the entire building was that most families opened their doors and chatted in the corridor in groups of three or four. The noise of the residents outside could be heard through the doors. There were even people who had stored a lot of food and set up small stalls there to make a fortune from the disaster.

Jiang Mi has been paying close attention to the rising water level. Today is the third day of the typhoon. Everything below the third floor has been flooded. The streets are flooded and only a little of the roofs of many low buildings can be seen. All kinds of things are floating on the turbid water.

She even saw humans floating on the water, but she could only watch and could not save them.

Despite such a severe flood, no one from any country has come out to control and provide rescue efforts until now.

A dull and depressing atmosphere filled the entire apartment. Many people began to suffer mental breakdowns and cried and howled, and quite a few prayed to gods and Buddhas. All kinds of people were visible.

Mother Jiang also began to sigh. After seeing a man being swept away by the rapids, she wiped away her tears and said, "How pitiful! Fortunately, we live in a high place. If we were still in the villa, we would probably..."

Father Jiang hugged his wife to comfort her and opened his mouth several times but stopped himself from speaking.

This is just the beginning. My daughter said that a tsunami is going to come tonight, so my wife must not be too scared when that happens.

Jiang Mi had already started making preparations.

The windows in the corridor of the apartment building cannot withstand a tsunami, so in order to prevent seawater from flooding in from the corridor through the main door, the door must be waterproofed. As for the holes in the wall where the air conditioner is located, she had already asked the decoration master to block them.

Even with the heavy rain in the past three days, the temperature in the apartment has been less than 10 degrees Celsius, and it is extremely damp and cold at night.

Fortunately, I have a dehumidifier at home, so it's bearable when it's turned on.

On the third night, Jiang Mi was leaning against the living room window, wrapped in a blanket and holding a cup of hot tea. The heavy rain was in a line, and it was almost impossible to see anything except the rushing rain downstairs. But the huge shadow in the distance was becoming more and more obvious.

After watching for a while, Jiang Mi stood up and prepared to curl up on the sofa to continue watching the palace drama, but he noticed something wrong out of the corner of his eye.

Looking to the right from the perspective of her living room window, she saw that the windows next door were also exceptionally thick, and even the corners were protected from leakage, and the outside of the wall was painted with waterproof paint.

Jiang Mi squinted her eyes and looked over carefully. She could vaguely see the appearance of the living room next door. There was a device with a flashing red dot in the corner. If she was not mistaken, it was radiation proof?

Just when she wanted to confirm it again, the curtains were suddenly drawn next door. The last glimpse she saw was a man with an extremely strong figure, shirtless and unable to see his face clearly, but she felt vaguely familiar with him, but he didn't give her a chance at all.

Touching his chin, Jiang Mi thought about it for a while but couldn't remember where the familiar feeling came from, so he gave up, turned back to lie down on the sofa, took out his mobile phone and started watching TV series.

She didn't plan to sleep tonight.

In her previous life, she only knew that the quality of the Moon Bay Apartments was so good that it could withstand a tsunami without collapsing, but she had no idea what the specific situation was. She was somewhat unsure, so she simply stayed awake. It would give her peace of mind to see it with her own eyes. After all, if there were any problems, she could make up for it in time.

The night was getting darker and darker. Jiang Mi looked at the time. It was almost five o'clock and the tsunami was about to come.

She sat up, but was startled by the silence of the elder brother opposite her.

"Brother, why don't you sleep?"

He sat there in the dark without making a sound, like a ghost.

"Can I think of what you can think of?" Jiang Xun glanced at her calmly, "Just close your eyes and rest for a while. I'll just watch."

As they were talking, they suddenly felt the whole building seemed to shake slightly.
