Chapter 25 Hatching Chicks

The first batch of short-term vegetables planted by Father and Mother Jiang are ready to be harvested. In the evening, the family ate the vegetables they grew themselves.

"The taste doesn't seem to be any different." Mother Jiang picked up one and put it in her mouth, tasting it carefully for a while and said, but her face was still full of smiles, which was the satisfaction and joy brought by the hard work finally paying off.

During this month, Jiang's father and mother never left the air-raid shelter. This was something they would never have dared to think about before.

Humans are social animals after all. The family of four see each other every day, and their activities are limited to this air-raid shelter. Although the space is large and there are many activity facilities, the loneliness brought by being away from the crowd cannot be eliminated.

Mother Jiang and father Jiang tried their best to find things for themselves to do, and growing vegetables was one of them.

"What's the difference? There's a huge difference. The vegetables grown by your hands taste extra sweet and have a very strong vegetable flavor!" Father Jiang chuckled, picked up a large piece of vegetable with chopsticks and put it into his mouth, giving him a little flattery.

Although she knew that Jiang's father was just trying to flatter him, Jiang's mother still had a happy look on her face and ate half a bowl more than usual.

"My dear daughter, can you get some small animals for me to raise? You and your brother just exercise every day, and your father and I are really free, so we want to help you two."

After dinner, Jiang's mother pulled Jiang Mi, who was about to go to the gym, to sit on the sofa and looked at her expectantly.

Jiang Mi thought about it. When she was purchasing supplies before the end of the world, she had thought about buying some living creatures and raising them in the space. But for some reason, once those living creatures entered the space, they seemed to be frozen in time and instantly lost their vitality, but their bodies were still lifelike. They had no way to survive like the native creatures in the space. She was depressed for a while because of this.

However, she did buy some fertilized eggs and put them into the space in the hope of getting lucky, but she didn't know whether those fertilized eggs could hatch.

Thinking of this, Jiang Mi pulled his mother to the incubation room and took out the fertilized eggs from the space, including chicken, duck and goose eggs, ten each.

"The space cannot accommodate living things from this world. I'm not sure whether the fertilized egg can be hatched successfully, but you can try it, mom." Jiang Mi picked up a fertilized egg and looked at it carefully under strong light. He could only see a small black spot inside the egg. She couldn't see anything more. After all, he had no experience in hatching chicks.

Jiang's mother also picked up an egg and looked at it carefully. After a moment, she said with some surprise: "Yes, it is a fertilized egg. The blood ring can be seen."

Like Jiang's father, Jiang's mother came from the countryside. Although she had never cultivated fertilized eggs herself, she had seen how the elderly in the family identified hatching, so she could naturally tell the difference now.

Mother Jiang carefully checked the remaining twenty-nine fertilized eggs one by one. After confirming that they were all fertilized eggs, her face beamed with joy and she kept saying "good" over and over again.

"I'll go call your father now, and we'll work together to figure out how to hatch these eggs." Mother Jiang happily placed the thirty fertilized eggs into the incubator one by one.

"Come on, Mom! I'm rooting for you!" Jiang Mi smiled and clenched his fist to cheer for his mother.

Since his mother had found something to do, Jiang Mi didn't stay any longer and headed straight for the gym.

The gym was empty and Jiang Xun was not there, so Jiang Mi started training on his own.

Now she no longer needs Jiang Xun's assistance, and she can complete most of the training by herself.

After another two hours of sweating, Jiang Mi hung a towel around his neck and wiped the sweat off his face after finishing his workout. He did not rush to wash up, but turned around and went to the training room next door.

The training room is several times larger than the gym, almost as big as a basketball court. There are several targets standing in the distance. Jiang Xun is holding a crossbow and shooting at the targets in the distance.

Jiang Mi watched quietly for a while, and when a round of shooting was completed, he clapped his hands and approached, smiling, "Another improvement, three tens, five eights, and one seven. It seems that myopia has less and less of an impact on you. If your eyesight is fully restored, and you have aiming assistance, you will definitely be able to evolve into a sharpshooter."

"This is just a crossbow. If it were a gun, the result would be even better."

Jiang Xun put down the crossbow in his hand and shook his head slightly. "This is the result even when shooting at a fixed target. If it's a moving target..."

He didn't finish what he said next, but from the slightly cold look on his face, it can be seen that he is very dissatisfied with his current results.

"Brother, you are already very capable. You don't need to push yourself like this. After all, the crossbow is just one of our reserve means. The real weapon is still the gun." Jiang Mi comforted him.

My brother is good in every way except that he sets too high standards for himself and wants everything to be perfect.

Jiang Xun didn't dwell on this topic any more. He put down the crossbow and looked at her, raised his eyebrows and said, "Want to practice?"

As soon as these three words came out, the smile on Jiang Mi's face suddenly collapsed, "Brother, I just finished exercising."

"It's because you just finished exercising, so you don't need to warm up." Jiang Xun smiled slightly and started wrapping a bandage around his wrist.

Seeing that he couldn't escape, Jiang Mi could only sigh and resign himself to his fate and began to make preparations for the battle.

Since her physical fitness surpassed that of ordinary people, Jiang Xun designed a set of training methods for her, which included real-life fighting.

But Jiang Xun had been practicing martial arts since he was a child, so he could easily deal with three or five strong men. The first time Jiang Xun fought with him, he was beaten to a pulp.

He even disliked the unruly ways she showed.

Jiang Mi: "…"

She was also helpless, okay? The little fighting skills she knew now were all acquired bit by bit during the apocalypse. At that time, she didn't care about orthodox or unconventional methods. As long as a method could kill the opponent, it was a good method.

Jiang Xun didn't comment on her little complaint and directly included fighting skills in the curriculum.

It has to be said that Jiang Xun's rich fighting experience and skills did benefit her a lot.

Jiang Xun's teaching method was never preaching, but actual combat. He told her her shortcomings in battle after battle and corrected some bad habits she had developed in previous battles.

"Today, if you can hold out against me for 20 minutes without falling, you'll have completed your training." Jiang Xun walked to the open space in the center of the venue with his hands wrapped in black bandages, his tone nonchalant.

Jiang Mi took a deep breath. It took her half a month to get from being killed instantly at the beginning and not being able to last even a minute to now being able to hold out against him for at least 15 minutes.
