Chapter 35: Mutated Sea Snake

The remaining space is more than enough for two beds.

And because the homeowners have completely sealed the windows, as long as they close the door, the house is sealed enough that they don't have to worry about heating.

Jiang Mi took out a rechargeable table lamp from the space and placed it on the altar. He then took out two camp beds, arranged them, and placed a heater between the two beds.

As soon as the switch was pressed, the heater suddenly lit up with an orange-red light, and the coldness in the room was immediately dispelled.

When the temperature in the room was finally not so cold anymore, Jiang Mi took off his coat, revealing the light combat uniform underneath. He then took out a small table from the space and took out two box lunches as dinner for the two of them tonight.

The lunch boxes were placed in the space right after they were made, so they were still steaming hot when they were taken out.

This was the first hot meal the two had today. In order to hurry on their way, they each had a piece of bread for lunch.

Jiang Xun waited until she had arranged everything before he came over and sat down.

While eating, Jiang Mi suddenly sighed: "It would be great if we could still communicate."

In the past, when I went on a long trip, I would send a message or call my parents to let them know that I had arrived safely. But now I can only say it silently in my heart.

"It will happen." Jiang Xun whispered.

After finishing the meal, the tiredness brought by the whole day's travel suddenly surged over Jiang Mi. He yawned and said, "Go to sleep. We have to travel early tomorrow morning."

After saying that, he lay down on the bed, pulled up the thin quilt to cover himself, and prepared to sleep comfortably.

Jiang Xun raised his hand to turn off the floor lamp, and the room instantly became much darker, with only the faint orange light from the heater remaining.

The night deepens.

Except for the whistling wind, the surroundings were deathly silent.

Jiang Mi was sleeping soundly when he suddenly opened his eyes. His mind was extremely clear, as if he had never slept.

This was her intuition about danger!

Her eyes subconsciously fell on the door, and she saw something moving in the gap under the door in the darkness. In an instant, Jiang Mi's heart was alarmed! She

quietly took out the dagger she carried with her, holding the gun in her other hand. As soon as she got up from the bed, Jiang Xun opened his eyes.

Seeing her action, Jiang Xun's eyes fixed, and he cautiously did not ask, but looked in the direction of her gaze and saw something under the crack of the door.

Jiang Mi gestured to him, indicating that she would go over to check first. Jiang Xun nodded, quietly got out of bed, and the two of them formed a horn and approached the door.

When he got closer and took a closer look, Jiang Mi discovered that there was a gray-black snake with dark green markings under the door.

The snake's body was only as thick as a thumb, but its head was abnormally flat. Its eyeballs were blood red and covered by a grayish-white film. Two sharp white fangs protruded from its snout. Around the fangs were small, densely interlaced teeth, and its black tongue was exposed.

At this time, he was trying to squeeze into the house through the crack in the door.

Jiang Mi felt relieved, "It's a mutant sea snake."

"These things really can penetrate any hole." Jiang Xun frowned slightly, stretched out his hand and waved it, and a dark blue arc of electricity shot towards the mutant sea snake. Once it came into contact with the sea snake, its whole body suddenly stiffened and twitched, but in just a few seconds it collapsed to the ground and was motionless.

"The closer we get to the city, the more mutated creatures there will be." Jiang Mi shook his head, and to be on the safe side he swung his dagger to chop off the sea snake's head.

"It's not just the sea monsters brought by the tsunami. There should be a lot of deformed plants and animals on land. And you should have encountered a human deformer, right?"

As he spoke, Jiang Mi took out a bottle of filling foam and sprayed it on the crack in the door, completely blocking the gap.

Jiang Xun thought of the human corpse he encountered a few days ago, which was covered in rotten flesh and had no consciousness but wanted to kill him. His face darkened and he nodded.

"Okay, now you can sleep peacefully. If anything wants to get in again, it will have to break the door." Jiang Mi yawned and turned back to bed.

Jiang Xun pursed his lips and lay back on the bed, feeling a little annoyed at his own vigilance.

If it weren't for his sister's alertness, wouldn't the snake have sneaked in quietly?

When he thought of the consequences, Jiang Xun frowned tightly.

But Jiang Mi had fallen asleep again.

The next morning, Jiang Mi discovered that there were dark circles under his brother's eyes.

"Brother, were you a thief last night?" Jiang Mi teased while brushing his teeth.

Jiang Xun glared at her for once, "Shao Pin."

Jiang Mi curled her lips.

Breakfast consisted of a few steaming meat buns and soy milk. After eating, the two continued to head towards Haicheng Building.

The sky was still gray and without sunshine, but the cold wind was much weaker and not as biting as yesterday.

After entering the city, the two of them immediately became very alert.

Only some car roofs could be seen on the road. The shops on both sides of the road were all dilapidated. The windows and glass of every room were all shattered. With every step you took, you could hear the creaking sound of glass being stepped on.

Under the heavy snow, ordinary bicycles and electric vehicles are completely invisible, and they can only grope their way forward like a blind person.

Jiang Mi's feet touched something hard again. He carefully moved around it and sighed, "It will take more than a month for the snow to melt. I wonder if there will be such heavy snow in the southwest."

As soon as she finished speaking, she felt as if her trouser leg was hooked by something. She pulled it several times in different directions but failed to get it off, so she became alert.

With a movement of his right hand, a flamethrower suddenly appeared in his palm. He pressed the switch and a huge tongue of fire gushed out from the outlet. In the blink of an eye, it melted the snow in front of him, revealing what was underneath the snow.

What appeared before her eyes was not a deformed monster, but a rotten corpse. Only one arm was left of the corpse, and the skeleton was exposed in most parts of the body. At this time, the only arm had turned into bones, and the white index finger bone was hooked on her trouser leg.

Jiang Mi let out a breath, turned his hand to put the flamethrower into the space, grasped the dagger tightly and cut the inner finger bone hard, thus freeing his trouser leg.

Just as she was about to stand up, she suddenly felt a sense of danger in her heart, accompanied by Jiang Xun's cold shout, "Squat down!"

She immediately suppressed the movement of getting up and squatted where she was. From the corner of her eye, she saw a flash of faint blue lightning, and then heard a sharp bird cry.

With a plop, a dead bird fell from the sky and disappeared into the snow.

"It's okay." Jiang Xun whispered.

Jiang Mi stood up and took a look at the place where the bird fell. "It turned out to be a mutant bird."

Only mutant birds will aggressively kill any living thing within their field of vision.
