CH 21 Quillbot Edit

POV Ranger of the Night's Watch:

A month has passed since they left the Wall for the far reaches of the Land of Always Winter, in search of the enemy of mankind. And right now they were looking at the enemy standing still like a statue in the vast, icy desert.

"Whatever you do, do not interfere. I don't want any casualties in this expedition." Saying so, Prince Reagan slowly walked towards the entity in front of him, clad in ice and blue armor, with his shield and axe in his hand.

The entity slowly turned its head towards Prince Reagan and lunged at him with its ice sword in a swift motion. The prince blocked it with his round shield. When the ice sword and the shield collided, there was a screeching sound, and the shield started to freeze, but nothing else happened. The entity looked at the prince, and the prince had a smile on his face.

In a graceful movement, the prince dropped his axe, and a small black knife sprung out of his sleeves and into his hand. Before the entity could react, the prince swiftly struck the neck of the entity with the small black knife. That single strike shattered the entity into pieces and sent it to the ground. The prince mumbled something as he picked up the shattered body of the entity in his hand. Gulping down, the First Ranger Owen approached the Prince slowly while keeping his vigilance at all times high.

3rd Person POV:

"Prince Reagan, was that the other?" First Ranger Owen asked Reagan as he neared him.

Nodding his head, Reagan replied to his question. "Yes, that was the Other, our true enemy beyond the Wall. The reason my ancestor built the wall."

Reagan motioned for Fenrir to come close to him, and when Fenrir reached him, he placed the ice shards in a box that had runes all around it. Owen saw what Reagan was doing and asked, "Is that for the evidence to prove the existence of the others?"

"Hmm? No, this is for something else, and I need more of it. So we will be hunting some of the others for their ice shards." Reagan replied with a smile.

Owen looked at him weirdly and said, "We saw one after entering the Land of Always Winter. I don't think that they will be standing still like the one you killed right now."

Still smiling, Reagan said, "The Land of Always Winter is their home; we are already behind the enemy lines, and we killed one of them. You think the nearby ones haven't noticed this?"

"Are you saying that a horde of others are coming towards us?!" Owen asked with his eyes wide.

Nodding his head, Reagan replied, "I don't know how many will come, but I don't think that there will be a horde of them."

"Then why are we standing here? Let's get out of here! You had to use dragon glass to kill the other, and you only have one with you! What are you going to do when they all come at you at once?!" Owen said it urgently.

Shrugging his shoulders, he pointed at Fenrir, who was standing next to them, and said, "It's Fenrir who is going to attack. All we have to make sure is that we are behind him so that what he is about to do won't affect us. Now go and stand with your rangers and watch the show."

Owen wanted to shout at Reagan, but he held his tongue when he saw the wolf looking at him as if it were judging him. Nodding his head to Reagan, Owen went back to where the other rangers were waiting.

As Owen left, Reagan looked Fenrir in the eyes and said, "Do you think, just make sure that you don't attract more than you can handle, okay?"

"Woof!" Fenrir barked at him in agreement, with his tail wagging from side to side.

Smiling at Fenrir, Reagan scratched him under his chin and said, "Go wild, boy."

Just as he said that, a half dozen of the others were walking slowly towards them from different directions. Looking at the approaching enemies, Reagan backed away from Fenrir, and to the surprise of the rangers that came with Reagan, Fenrir started to grow larger than before. Owen, who saw this, muttered under his breath, "How in the world is that possible?!"

Fenrir became even larger than he was before and was standing at least twenty meters in height and forty-five meters in length. The rangers gulped down in fear and awe of the magnificent creature and looked down at the wolves they were riding. All of them had a single thought in their minds: 'Does the prince have more than one wolf that can alter its size?!"

Reagan, on the other hand, smiled at the size of Fenrir and said to himself, "His stay in the hunting grounds has given its results. He is the first one to alter his size; I can't wait until the others also alter their size."

"AWOOOOOOOOOO!" Fenrir howled out, which caused the rangers to cover their ears due to the loud voice. The wolves lied down on the ground in an act of submission, and the others stilled for a second but rushed towards Fenrir as fast as they could.

"GRRRRRRR" Growling out, Fenrir also rushed to the Others, and within three to four jumps, he reached the first Other. With a swipe of his front paw, he killed the other swiftly. Seeing the death of one of their own, the Others spread out and started to attack Fenrir from all sides with their spears and swords.

But none of the attacks made any contact with Fenrir, as he used his size alteration to avoid the attacks at the last second. Getting angry because of the pesky little ice men, Fenris upped his speed and started a killing spree. In a matter of minutes, Fenrir killed all the others with his paws, legs, tail, and bite. He didn't leave any of them alive, and it was a complete massacre of the others.

When he was finished killing them, Fenrir changed back to his size, which was still larger than a horse but not as large as an elephant. Reagan, who knew that everything was over, started to collect the ice shards of the Others and placed them all in the rune-covered box that he had.

Riding back to the rangers who were waiting for him, he asked them, "I have shown you proof of the true enemy of the realm of men. So, can you kindly explain what you saw here today to your brothers in the Night's Watch?"

They all came out of their bewildered state as they heard Reagan's voice. They slowly nodded at him, and Owen asked him while looking at Fenrir, "Should we also tell them about your wolf?"

"I don't see why not? I don't even care if it's known throughout the world that my wolf can change its size at will. What are they going to do? Kill a giant wolf that can snuff their life out like a candle. Yeah sure. But you know, before they can reach Fenrir, they have to go through me." Reagan said as he passed by them, seemingly leaving the Land of Always Winter and going back to the Wall.

The rangers all looked at each other, and Owen, their leader, told them, "Do what you think is right. I am not going to confirm or deny the questions of our brothers in black if they ask me anything about the wolf that belongs to the prince."
