The Unexpected Offer

Lyneth watched as Tita Flor walked away, a warm feeling spreading through her chest. It was a small sale, but it was enough to buy dinner for the night. Lyneth felt a sense of gratitude towards Tita Flor, who had always been kind to her.

As the day wore on, Lyneth's stall remained quiet. She had sold a few more items, but it wasn't enough to make a difference. Lyneth was about to pack up and head home when a well-dressed woman approached her stall.

"Excuse me," the woman said, her voice firm but polite. "I'm looking for someone to work as a housekeeper. Would you be interested?"

Lyneth's heart skipped a beat. A housekeeping job would be a dream come true. It would mean a steady income, a chance to provide for Analyn, and a way out of the market.

"Yes, I'm interested," Lyneth said, trying to sound confident.

The woman smiled, her eyes scanning Lyneth's face. "Good. I'm Mrs. Santos, and I live in a big house in the rich part of town. I need someone to clean, cook, and take care of my children. Are you available to start tomorrow?"

Lyneth's mind raced. She had never worked as a housekeeper before, but she was willing to learn. And the thought of working in a big, beautiful house was almost too good to be true.

"Yes, I'm available," Lyneth said, trying to sound calm.

Mrs. Santos nodded, pulling out a small notebook from her purse. "Good. Here's my address and phone number. Be there at 8 am tomorrow. And don't be late."

Lyneth took the notebook, her hands shaking with excitement. She couldn't believe her luck. This was the chance she had been waiting for, the chance to change her life and provide for Analyn.

As Mrs. Santos walked away, Lyneth felt a sense of hope she hadn't felt in years. She packed up her stall, her mind racing with possibilities. She couldn't wait to tell Analyn the news.

As she walked home, Lyneth felt a sense of pride she hadn't felt in years. She was going to make a difference, she was going to change her life. And she was going to do it for Analyn.

When she got home, Analyn was sitting on the couch, her eyes fixed on the TV. Lyneth sat down beside her, taking a deep breath.

"Analyn, I have some good news," Lyneth said, trying to sound calm.

Analyn looked up, her eyes curious. "What is it, Mama?"

Lyneth smiled, feeling a sense of pride. "I got a job, baby. I'm going to work as a housekeeper in a big house in the rich part of town."

Analyn's eyes widened, a smile spreading across her face. "Really, Mama? That's amazing!"

Lyneth nodded, feeling a sense of hope. This was just the beginning, she thought. This was the start of a new chapter in their lives.
