Waterblade

"What do you reckon we should do?" Wistoria asked, her eyes shrewd as she gazed at Damien. Just now she heard Damien telling Xavier to pierce the underside of that thing with precise calculations.

It was as if he knew and could see that the weak spot of that thing lay underneath its shell right where its tail started.

While she and Xavier had been trying to find the weakness of that Boreal Worm for quite some time.

She wanted to see whether this man just made a hunch just now or was actually hiding some skills which were unknown to them.

"Leave that thing to me," said Damien as he stood up. Unaware of what Wistoria was thinking, he went ahead and said, "That thing is quite smart and can sense that I am the cause of his condition. It is targeting me because it sees me as a threat, so leave that gigantic worm alone and let it attack me."

"I will distract it and Xavier, you—" he trailed off and turned to look at the man beside him. "Attack it again right where you did just now."

Xavier narrowed his eyes and said, "Then what about you? If you distract that thing, it will put you in a rather dangerous situation."

"I know," said Damien as he turned and smiled at Xavier, "But what else can I do? Treating a patient until they are completely healed is my responsibility as a doctor."

'Is it just me or does this man suddenly look a bit more courageous than in the past, he is shining with an aura similar to that of a warrior,' thought Wistoria as she looked at Damien who was standing upright despite receiving an injury.

'Fuck—the price of playing it cool is really difficult. But what can I do? There is no way I am going to crumble to my knees in front of these people,' Damien cursed in his heart while crying tears of blood.

"Alright," Wistoria nodded. She sensed Damien's determination and agreed with his plan, as rash as it was, it was better than opening the protective layers around the main mansion and letting the guards inside.

They still haven't found the cause of Nicolas's condition and couldn't act carelessly. In case the traitor saved that thing and allowed it to escape, it would be rather dangerous.

Wistoria did not want to take any chances which meant —

The responsibility of dealing with that thing was on them.

"You heard him, leave him alone," said Wistoria who seemed completely unfazed by the fact that her husband had just volunteered to become bait for a giant worm.

But then again, she might be looking forward to Damien getting chowed down by that thing.

And as Damien did not want to die in such a gruesome yet humiliating way, he was determined to get out of this situation alive.

What if he died? What was he supposed to tell his mates in the underworld? That he became the meal of a monstrous worm?

That was so not cool, okay. If he was going down, he wanted to go down like a champ.

Xavier seemed like he was hesitating to say something, but in the end, his loyalty towards Wistoria won over the concern he had for Damien as he nodded and agreed with his mistress.

"Alright."

Since the plan was set, there was no need to waste any time, Damien sucked in a breath and with an expression of heading to the gallows, he took a step forward.

It would have been nice if he had a weapon though, other than a needle and thread.

"Damien."

He heard Wistoria call him and Damien turned around to look at the woman who threw a dagger at him. Damien looked down at the dagger which couldn't even cut a pincer of that thing and said sarcastically, "Thanks." For nothing.

"That's your sword," Wistoria told him as if sensing the sarcasm in his voice. "Waterblade, that's what you called your sword before your beast nucleus was destroyed."

When Wistoria said the name of the sword, Damien felt it hum in his hands. Even though he could not feed it with his mana, the sword still seemed to recognize him.

Now that he thought about it, his predecessor was a Dragon Beastmen was he not? Every dragon beastman had different powers. He was a water dragon, while Emiliano was light.

This was also one of the very reasons why that man was chosen as the next king. After all, a Light Dragon sounded more powerful than a Water Dragon.

"And you are alright with giving it to me?" Damien asked. As he was still a slave, Wistoria would be in quite a lot of trouble, if others were to find out that she had returned his weapon to him. Slaves were not allowed to have weapons, as they were even beneath the commoners.

The woman smiled at him for the first time and Damien realised that she did not look as stuck up when she smiled. Wistoria said to him, "I did promise that I would remove your title of a slave if you treated my brother. A promise is a promise."

'Seems like is not that bad—'

"Not to mention even if you have that, you still will not be able to use it as you do not have any mana," said Wistoria with a calm voice.

And I take that right the fuck back, thought Damien.

With a not-so-useful weapon in his hands, Damien took one look at that giant Boreal Worm and cursed Dan.

"You could have brought me to a better place but no you just had to bring me here," he was grateful, he indeed was but Damien was finding it hard to be grateful with a tragic wound on his abdomen while facing a giant worm.

Dan: "…"

"Humans really don't know when to be satisfied, do they? I saved your life, host" Dan asked Damien who simply snorted and replied, "Oh we do, as long as we are not in a life-and-death threat situation. And you saved my life before putting it in danger again."

"I wouldn't be so damn proud of something like this if I were you."
