After making sure Rowan was gone, Remi stopped in her tracks "he's right you know, it's indeed improper for me to stay at your place"
Jason chuckled "don't be so modest with me, I can tell you aren't very lady like. If you are worried about where to sleep, you can take the bedroom I'll sleep on the couch"
Jason was right, Remi didn't mind spending the night at his condo. It's just that after Rowan pointed out the fact that she doesn't behave like a girl, she decided to try to be more reserved so that no one else gets suspicious of her.
She agreed with the arrangements and went into the bedroom to sleep. After tossing and turning for a while, Remi got up from bed and went to the living room. Jason was sprawled on the couch, half naked and asleep, but the moment Remi switched on the lights, he jumped up and assumed a fighting stance.
"You don't happen to have any sleeping pills, do you?"
Seeing that it was just Remi, his tense muscles relaxed "why do you need sleeping pills?"
"So l can sleep, do you have them or not?"
"I do, but if it's the stomach cramps, the house keeper advised that you use a hot water bottle. It's right on the dressing table."
"And the pills?"
"In the drawer on the dressing table"
"Thanks" She quickly turned around to leave.
"You are really strange you know, my face makes you blush but you aren't showing any reaction to my fine body?"
Remi ignored him and continued walking away, perhaps if her period wasn't making her feel so uncomfortable she would have had a different reaction but at the moment she cared about nothing else.
With her back turned to him, she didn't see the bright smile on Jason's face 'she's really different from all the girls I've met before...interesting'
The next morning, Remi accidentally slept in due to the pills she had taken. When she woke up, she took a shower and prepared to leave.
"Where are you going?"
"Gym"
"Your trainer is right here and you still want to go to the gym?"
"Right, aren't you supposed to be at work?"
"I stayed behind incase you needed something...oh and l made breakfast" Jason said as he pointed at the dining table.
"Thanks" Maya sat done and gobbled up the bacon sandwiches.
"You eat alot for a young lady, it will make ur training harder you know. Twice the effort, half the result."
Remi didn't respond and kept on eating, this was free food after all, she needed to gain some weight, being too skinny was displeasing.
"By the way, are you some kind of princess undercover? That guy's stealth skills are amazing, if l hadn't been paying much attention, I wouldn't have noticed him at all!"
Remi frowned "which guy?"
"Your guard? You know...The one who's following you around. Is he not?"
"No. He must be the guy Rowan had assigned to follow me around" Remi nonchalantly bit into the juicy sandwich.
"I already noticed the lousy stalker, anyone who's not blind can discover him. The guy am talking about is probably a really high ranking assassin, to be reduced to the state of a guard though, your identity must be really prestigious"
"An assassin?" Remi's heart jolted. She was just a 15 years old girl, who could want to harm her?
"You didn't know?"
Remi shook her head.
"He doesn't seem to harbour any malice towards you, perhaps your family sent him to watch over you"
"Perhaps..." Finishing up the sandwich, Remi headed towards the door.
"Many thanks for your help, see you around"
Remi dashed out of the building and turned on her phone, immediately Drew's call came through.
" Remi! Are you okay? I- I couldn't get through to you ...l was worried"
"I'm fine Drew, I'll call you back sometime later...I'm occupied"
"Wait!-"
Remi quickly hung up then called Rowan who instantly answered "are you busy?"
"No"
"Good, come pick me up. I need to talk to you about something"
When Remi hung up, a rare wide smile coul be seen on Rowan's face. The blood on his hands dripped and he looked at the passed out middle aged man who was tied to a chair. His right arm was severed then burnt to avoid bleeding to death, Rowan looked at him codly.
"Even after how sh*tty you treated him, he still wants to spare you. This must be your lucky day uncle."
Rowan kicked away the severed arm, went to shower and had a change of clothes before racing to go pick up Remi.
Seeing her from afar he checked his appearance on the review mirror before approaching her and rolling down the window.
Remi didn't bother to speak and just got in.
"Home?"
"No, let's just go grab something to eat"
Rowan happily drove to a nearby restaurant and got a private room, once seated, Remi went straight to the point.
"You should call off that stalker, it's really annoying to have someone follow behind me all the time"
"You mean Zain? He's not following you anymore"
Remi frowned "then who's been following me?"
Rowan's expression darkened "someone is following you? do they have a death wish?"
"Did you have one when you sent someone to follow me?"
Rowan's words of anger got stuck in his throat, he coughed awkwardly and drank some water. At that moment, the waiter knocked and walked.
"Esteemed guests, may l take your orders?"
"Just some iced tea will do for me" Rowan said without looking at the menu.
Remi on the other hand went through the menu before ordering several dishes.
"A grilled sandwich with ham, pork fried noodles, pesto pasta with garlic shrimp and chicken nuggets"
Once the waiter jolted down their orders, he left the two alone.
Seeing Rowan's questioning gaze Remi glared at him "what?"
"If you were really Orion, you wouldn't have ordered such a big buffet, Orion despised such oily foods"
Remi responded lazily "yeah but this body's too skinny, l don't like it"
Rowan narrowed his eyes in scrutiny "are you really Orion?"
Remi sighed, since she had already told him the truth, there was no use in hiding it anymore "you can't sleep without exhausting your body's stamina first, you only pee twice a day which is before and after going to bed. You have a scar on your ass from a bullet wound, your favourite food is....you don't have a favourite food and you don't like girls. Need anymore proof?"
Hearing her re-accounting his habits so accurately, he felt both embarrassed and elated. Embarrassed because as a girl, she was casually mentioning what he felt was private, elated because this really proved that she was really Orion...his good friend and brother. He felt that the heavens were giving him a third chance to make amends and he was very thankful for that, all he wished in his life, was to protect him so that he could never be hurt by anyone ever again. But upon hearing the last claim, Rowan nearly choked on his own saliva.
"who said l don't like girls?" He stood up abruptly.
"Isn't it obvious? You chase away all the potential love interests and chose to dedicate your whole life to me, a man."
Rowan's vein popped on his forehead, he massaged his temple and tried to speak more softly "I didn't choose to follow you because l was romantically interested in you, if you are Orion, you should at least be aware of that"
"Then why? Was it because of guilt?"
"No...i-l failed my responsibility as your sworn brother. I was just trying to fix that, hoping that along the way, you would forgive me."
Remi smirked "oh, so you only feel brotherly love towards me?"
Rowan nodded absent mindedly.
"Good, I was afraid you might start hitting on me since am a girl now" Remi teased with a smile.
The joke didn't make Rowan laugh, instead he felt disappointed. As for why, he himself didn't understand it.
After a while the waiter arrived and placed down the orders. The food smelled and looked great, Remi drooled at the sight of it. Unable to resist, she wolfed down on it.
Watching from the side, Rowan found the glutinous Remi quite cute, if she liked to eat so much then he was happy to get her anything she wanted.
He secretly ordered desert before shooing away the waiter from the private room.
"I'm curious, how did you end up in a girl's body?"
Remi shrugged but didn't stop eating "woke up like this"
"But... how is that possible?" Rowan rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"Transmigration I suppose"
Rowan chuckled "we're both educated people here, don't tell me you actually believe in magic"
"I'm a man in a girl's body, if it's not magic then what Is it?"
Rowan took a few sips of the cold tea "I'm not sure but I still refuse to believe in the existence of magic"
Remi didn't bother with him anymore, she shoved down as much food as she could manage and finally felt stuffed.
"Tell me all the details of what happened, how you feel and everything you think might be related to your current situation. Maybe if I can figure out how you got stuck into a girl's body, l can manage to find a way to transfer you back into a man's body"
Remi patted her full belly before lazily replying "Although it would be nice to be a man again, at the moment, my full focus is on uncovering the mystery behind my death. Only after that can l entertain the idea of a body swap...if that'seven possible"
At that moment, a knock was heard followed by the waiter walking in with a single plate of desert. He placed it on the table and slowly took off the metal lid.
The unique sweet smell of the desert hit Remi's nostrils first, recognizing the all too familiar smell, Remi's pupils dilated.
When she finally confirmed it with her own eyes, she instinctively backed away in fear as her whole body trembled.
However, when she saw Rowan's expectant gaze, she angrily slammed her hands on the table "you ordered this? Very gutsy of you Rowan!"
At first Rowan was stunned, why was she throwing a tantrum? Was it because of her period?
But when he looked at the desert, he really wanted to smack his own head, how could he have forgotten?
Lying peacefully on the plate, looking delicious and ready to be devoured, was a slice of grape bread.
The very same kind of bread that had choked Orion to death!
