Chapter Twelve

When I was lost in the darkness of my mind, the same invigorating scent that captured my heart filled my nose. I felt the slightest surge of energy go through my body but stayed frozen in bed.

"Elara? I know your home, I can feel your pain and it's driving me mad, please open the door and let me in."

He pleaded with me, but I couldn't find the energy to move. My parents had been gone on vacation for a couple of weeks now so I had the house to myself, so they couldn't have opened the door for me. Ever since my first shift, they were terrified of me but still loved me enough to let me stay. Eventually, after some time I had gotten out of bed and opened the door for Isaac, part of me knew I needed his comfort to allow my heart to heal.
