Chapter 2 : New Life

"Okay... let's think about this. What should I do with his dead body? Should I bury him in the backyard? But I don't even know where the backyard is," Shu Lan muttered, walking back and forth as he thought. Another knock sounded at the door.

"It's me, my lord, your servant, Bai Qian," a young man said from outside.

"W-Wait, don't come in—" Before Shu Lan could finish his sentence, Bai Qian entered the room. "I'm here to inform you that your father is... again?" Bai Qian didn't seem surprised.

Bai Qian walked into the room calmly. A young man in his 20s bowed to Shu Lan.

"I know my lord is easily affected by people's words or behavior, but that doesn't mean you can kill anyone you don't like. Unfortunately, this person was your father's new advisor," Bai Qian said, his tone as if this sort of thing had happened before. Shu Lan didn't know how to respond, so he just stayed silent.

"I'm here to let you know that your father is looking for you. This is the perfect time to deliver him this unfortunate news," Bai Qian said, staring at the white-bearded man's lifeless body.

"Alright... I'll see him later," Shu Lan replied.

"I will help you change your clothes, my lord," Bai Qian said, rummaging through Shu Lan's wardrobe. Since Shu Lan was now in Yang Luoya's body, he should act like him so no one would get suspicious. As he walked through the hallway, he lifted his head slightly, adding the arrogant, highborn air that Yang Luoya was known for in the novel.

"Your Majesty, I have brought the young lord here," Bai Qian said, knocking on a giant door.

"Come in," an older voice replied from inside.

Bai Qian opened the door. An older man sat at a desk piled with papers. His stern and sharp crimson eyes seemed to pierce through to Shu Lan's soul. Shu Lan entered the room slowly, trying not to lose his composure.

"Leave us, Bai Qian," the man ordered.

Bai Qian bowed and left them alone. Shu Lan bowed respectfully.

"I'm here, Father. What do you want from me?" he asked.

"You killed someone else again? And my advisor this time?" the older man asked.

"Yes, Father. That man insulted my capability as a lord and cursed our empire by saying it would fall apart one day," Shu Lan replied, choosing his words carefully.

"You need to fix your anger problem. Whoever insults this empire, our family, or you, you can teach them a lesson, but you can't kill them," the old man said.

"Yes, Father," Shu Lan replied.

The older man straightened his posture and spoke in a stern tone.

"I've heard that a group of rebels has appeared in several places, hoping to make you the king. You know this is a serious problem, right?" he said, as if trying to kill Shu Lan with his words.

"I'm fully aware of that... but I haven't intervened or anything like that," Shu Lan replied, trying to stay calm.

"I hope you can find a way to calm them down. You can't become emperor, even if you're my first son. After all, an omega cannot become emperor," he spoke as if it were a decree. This was the twist in the novel.

Yang Luoya, known as a tyrant and bloodthirsty lord, was actually an omega. The only ones who knew this were his father and his servant, Bai Qian. He hid his shameful gender by acting high and mighty like an alpha. He endured harsh training to make his body stronger than the average omega. Not only that, he consumed many potions to mask his scent.

"I know you're my first son, but receiving our family heirloom could kill you," the older man said. The family heirloom was passed down through generations. During the coronation, the new king had to lift a dark sword and carve their name into the Canyon of Prophecy—a tradition. An omega's body couldn't withstand the dark sword's aura and would die from it.

In the story, Yang Luoya wanted to become the leader but avoided the tradition. So, he became the leader of the rebel group. Though he was the first son, he was weaker than his little brother, Yang Wei, who was an alpha. Yang Luoya hated the fact that he was an omega, so he made a pact with the devil, the overlord of the cursed land.

"Not only that... I tried to hide your mother's shameful past. I heard from the physician that your mother couldn't get pregnant at all, so I never touched her. Yet... here you are," he said, glaring at Shu Lan.

In the novel, Yang Luoya had no blood relation to Emperor Yan Soren or his younger brother, Yang Wei. But that wasn't because his mother had been unfaithful. In fact, his mother was still pure. She had asked the devil to bring her a child as an offering the next time she made a wish. That was why Yang Luoya ended up as the devil's puppet in the end. The only one who knew this secret was his mother.

"You can leave now," the older man said. Shu Lan bowed and left the room. As he walked down the hallway, he thought about what he should do next.

"From now on, I'm Yang Luoya, and I should stay away from the plot as much as possible. I'll never make another wish to the devil," Yang Luoya muttered to himself. As he walked, he overheard two male servants giggling.

"Yeah, I know Lord Yang Luoya is kind of scary, but his younger brother looks like a chicken—he's too softhearted," one servant said.

"Yeah, I know. This morning, he forgave a thief just because they were a child," the other servant replied.

"If it were Lord Yang Luoya, he probably would've pulled out all their nails, one by one," the first servant joked.

Yang Luoya's anger returned in full force. He tried to hold it back, but he couldn't.

"Maybe that's because Lord Yang Wei's mother is a commoner, so he forgave a thief. At least his mother probably stole something once, right?" That was it. Yang Luoya couldn't control his rage anymore. How dare they talk about parents like that?

Yang Luoya stormed over in fury and choked one of the servants. They were all shocked and trembling in fear, seeing the lack of forgiveness in his eyes. Yang Luoya suddenly realized what he had done and let go of the servant's throat. A purple mark appeared on the servant's neck as he and the others fell to their knees, trembling.

"Leave..." Yang Luoya commanded, his voice cold, so he wouldn't hurt them further. They ran away hurriedly.

"I almost killed two people in two chapters," Yang Luoya muttered to himself.
