On A Timer

Ezran, standing a few feet behind them, muttered nervously as he conjured a fireball in his shaking hands. "This isn't fun. This is terrifying."

The fireball soared, smashing into a cluster of undead and scattering their bones. Ezran sighed in relief but froze as three more skeletons emerged from the shadows with glinting swords.

"Uh, a little help here?" he squeaked, retreating hastily.

Lilo spun, releasing an arrow that flew into one of the skeletons, shattering its skull. "Ezran, you're a mage! Start acting like one and less like a scared puppy!"

"I'm trying! Do you know how hard it is to focus when everything's trying to kill you?"

The undead pressed closer, seemingly endless in droves. Just as it seemed they were about to be overwhelmed, a deafening explosion of light and heat erupted from the east. A massive wave of fire swept across the battlefield, disintegrating dozens of undead in an instant.
