Ye Jin walked excitedly to meet Mei Yun. Her steps were light, as she couldn't wait to tell her about all the wonderful movies Ning Yin had recommended. A soft smile played on her lips as she thought about the evening they'd spend together, huddling together on the couch as they complained about how brain dead the Main Leads were.

But as she approached, she spotted Mei Yun's petite frame huddled against the wall, her body trembling with silent sobs.

Ye Jin's heart dropped, her previous happiness fading away. She rushed over, her face darkening as she saw the bruises on Mei Yun's pale skin.

"What happened? Who did this to you?" Ye Jin's voice was low but filled with anger, her fists clenched at her sides, her nails digging into her palms.

Mei Yun stayed silent, her eyes fixed on the floor. The silence stretched between them, heavy and suffocating.
