"Miraculous 16"

[Return of H to La Script]

Funneh Kalana woke up and slowly walked to her front door, where she caught a glimpse of a news report. The anchor on the screen spoke with urgency:

"Recently, heroes have been disappearing all across the world. The number of active heroes is dwindling as many people have been mysteriously losing their powers. We don't exactly know why this is happening, but what we do know is that most people who have lost their powers are joining either the military or the police force."

Funneh sighed and turned off the TV before heading out.

[Later...]

Funneh entered the school and immediately noticed that many students had been using LE (Love Energy) more than usual. Unlike those with superpowers from birth, Regalia users relied heavily on LE to fuel their abilities.

As she walked down the hall, she spotted Ava sitting at a table, but Funneh hesitated, deciding not to mention yesterday's events. She knew Ava still harbored resentment toward her for reasons Funneh couldn't fully understand.

After a brief moment of awkwardness, Funneh left and made her way to her first class. On the way, her phone buzzed with a notification:

You have been dismissed from class today due to "Meta-Divine Intervention."

Funneh raised an eyebrow. Meta-Divine Intervention? What even is that? she thought to herself. Shrugging, she decided to leave the school, curiosity still gnawing at her about the cryptic message.

Before she could reach her house, her phone rang. It was the Central Intelligence Agency's president, Alyssa Freedom Stalingrad (AFS). Funneh instantly recognized the voice.

"Funneh, I need you to come to my house. Now. And don't let anyone follow you," AFS said, her voice as cold and authoritative as ever.

Though slightly unsettled, Funneh knew this was an official request, so she complied and headed home without a second thought.

[Later...]

Funneh opened the door to her house and froze. Sitting on her couch was none other than AFS herself, her blue hair perfectly styled, her silver suit gleaming under the soft light. She was flipping through a file with a smirk.

AFS didn't even glance up as she said, "So, while going through some classified files, I found you." She paused, then finally looked Funneh in the eyes, her smirk widening. "You're quite an interesting character, you know. One of the only public superheroes."

AFS stood, circling the room slowly before continuing, "But that's not why I called you here. It's about your mother."

Funneh's heart raced, her eyes shrinking in panic. She felt a sinking dread wash over her as she imagined the worst. Is she about to tell me my mother is dead?

[Later….]

Funneh swallowed hard, her throat suddenly dry. She couldn't speak, her mind was spinning with all the possible ways this conversation could end.

AFS finally stopped pacing and sat down again, crossing one leg over the other. She seemed to be savoring the suspense. "Your mother… She's not dead, Funneh. At least, not in the way you think."

Funneh's breath caught in her throat. "W-What do you mean?"

AFS leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees, locking eyes with Funneh. "Let me put it this way—you're not the only person in your family with secrets. Your mother was involved in things that go beyond anything you've faced. Things beyond this world."

Funneh felt her heart pounding in her chest. She had always known her mother was different, but she had never imagined something like this. "What are you saying? My mother… What did she do?"

AFS smiled faintly. "She wasn't just a civilian. She worked with people like me—people who deal with threats you couldn't even imagine. In fact, her last mission might just be the reason you've had such a unique life."

Funneh's mind was racing, but she forced herself to stay calm. "What kind of mission are you talking about?"

AFS opened a folder and pulled out a grainy black-and-white photograph, sliding it across the table. Funneh's eyes widened as she recognized the woman in the picture—her mother. But it wasn't the version of her she remembered. In the photo, her mother was dressed in a sleek tactical suit, her face set with a fierce determination that Funneh had never seen before.

"She was working with the Meta-Divine Division," AFS said coolly. "And it seems that some of her work... well, it's started to catch up with you."

Funneh felt a cold chill run down her spine. "Why are you telling me this now? What's happening?"

AFS stood again, this time more serious, her usual cocky demeanor replaced by something darker. "Because, Funneh, your mother's enemies are still out there. And they've taken notice of you. Nexus may just be the beginning."

Funneh clenched her fists, trying to process everything she was hearing. Her mother, secret missions, enemies she didn't even know she had? It was too much.

"What do I need to do?" Funneh asked, her voice steady despite the storm of emotions swirling inside her.

AFS smiled again, that familiar smirk returning. "Stay sharp. Keep your friends close. And remember—no one can know about this. Not yet."

Funneh nodded, her thoughts spinning, but one thing was clear—her mother's past had just become her problem. And it was time to find out just how deep this rabbit hole went.

[Later...]

Funneh left her house, her mind still buzzing with everything AFS had just told her. She felt a new weight on her shoulders, knowing that her mother's mysterious past was now coming back to haunt her. As she walked through the city streets, she couldn't help but notice how many people were talking about the recent hero disappearances, how LE users were being pushed into the spotlight more and more.

She reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone, sending a quick message to her team:

Meet me at HQ. Something big is happening.

Funneh was ready for whatever came next. She had to be.

[Later…]

As Funneh left the house, her phone buzzed again. It was AFS. She quickly answered, not even needing to check the screen.

"One more thing," AFS's voice crackled through the line. "I didn't explain what 'Meta-Divine Intervention' means earlier. You're probably curious."

Funneh paused on the sidewalk, her hand gripping the phone tightly. "Yeah, what is that? The notification said I was dismissed from class because of it."

AFS chuckled lightly. "Meta-Divine Intervention is essentially a cosmic override. When something otherworldly happens—something beyond human, something from a plane of existence that most of us can't touch—it triggers a response. It's the universe's way of rebalancing things. When heroes like you get involved in situations that cross into divine or extradimensional territory, certain systems in place pull you out of normal life to prevent interference."

Funneh raised an eyebrow. "So, it's like the universe saying, 'You're too powerful to be stuck in class today?'"

"Essentially, yes. It happens when your energy crosses a certain threshold. When you're too close to divine-level entities or involved in cosmic-level incidents, the system protects reality from collapsing under the weight of your power. That's what happened today. Nexus and his plans—whatever they involve—have started to trigger Meta-Divine responses. You're at the center of it."

Funneh took a deep breath, trying to let it all sink in. "So... this means things are getting serious, doesn't it?"

"They're already serious. Meta-Divine Intervention doesn't happen for small-time villains or street-level events. You're dealing with something that could rewrite existence if handled poorly."

Funneh swallowed hard. She felt the weight of the world—and now the weight of entire planes of existence—pressing down on her. She started walking again, faster this time, determination fueling every step.

"Why didn't you tell me this sooner?" Funneh asked. Her tone was sharp but controlled.

"Because until now, you weren't directly affected. And sometimes, the less you know, the safer you are. But now... well, let's just say the universe can't keep its secrets from you much longer."

Funneh clenched her fist. "Understood. I'll keep my guard up. I'll figure out Nexus's plan and stop him."

"You better," AFS replied, her voice calm yet serious. "The fate of more than just our world could depend on it."

The line went dead.

[Later...]

Funneh arrived at HQ, her heart still pounding from the conversation. She stepped into the large, open room where her team usually met, but the place was empty. The only sound was the faint hum of technology, waiting to spring into action. She sent out a second message to her teammates, urging them to meet her as soon as possible. There was no time to waste.

With Nexus and the mystery of her mother's past looming over her, Funneh felt the weight of the world shifting in a way she had never experienced before. But she wasn't about to let fear control her. Not now.
