## Chapter 130: Student Career Breakthrough

#

Since it was Friday, after washing his face at home, Fujino didn't even sleep and went straight to school.

After the monthly exams, Teitan High School returned to its regular school routine.

Despite being very tired, Fujino still managed to complete a full day of classes.

After classes, he went to the Konoha Kendo Dojo for some training.

#### Konoha Kendo Dojo

This is the training hall where the dojo usually practices.

"Fujino, your progress is very fast. It won't be long before you surpass me," Suwa Koji remarked while holding a wooden sword, looking at the scars left from their sparring. He couldn't help but express his admiration to Fujino standing opposite him.

"I'm still far from reaching your level, Master Suwa," Fujino replied, taking a deep breath and sticking the tip of his wooden sword into the ground.

He was telling the truth. Achieving the eighth dan in kendo is already the highest level in current kendo rankings. The ninth and tenth dan levels can only be posthumously awarded, similar to how police officers in Japan are automatically promoted two ranks after dying in the line of duty. Only kendo masters who are already eighth dan and have made outstanding contributions to the field can be posthumously awarded the ninth and tenth dan.

In other words, Suwa Koji was one of the top figures in Japanese kendo.

"You're too modest," Suwa Koji laughed dryly. "From our sparring, it's clear that while there are still some things you need to let go of, your kendo skills are very close to my level."

Fujino nodded at this without saying much. In regular matches, he often felt he couldn't fully express his abilities. His kendo practice was mostly about surprise attacks, using the wooden sword to strike the back of the opponent's head, aiming to end the fight in one move. Such tactics are hard to execute in regular sparring, which is why he often felt restrained. If Fujino wore an assassin's robe and hit the back of Suwa Koji's head, it would be much easier for him.

"By the way, when are you planning to participate in the kendo ranking test?" Suwa Koji suddenly asked.

"The kendo ranking test?" Fujino, who was heading to the dojo's restroom, turned around, somewhat surprised.

"If I remember correctly, you are eighteen now," Suwa Koji continued. "You're now considered a student of our Konoha Kendo Dojo. If you want to take the ranking test, I can recommend you to the Kendo Association."

"Isn't that inappropriate? I'm not even at the first kyu yet," Fujino laughed lightly. In Japanese kendo, there are ten kyus and eight dans. Before taking the dan exams, one needs to rank within the dojo.

"You've already surpassed the first kyu... even beyond the seventh dan. Recommending you as a first kyu is not inappropriate," Suwa Koji said seriously. Although Fujino hadn't been at the dojo long, suddenly promoting him to first kyu might seem inappropriate to others. But Suwa Koji believed it was just a way to pave the way for a kendo prodigy. After all, Fujino could spar evenly with an eighth dan master; first kyu and second kyu were just child's play.

"In that case, I'll trouble you to help me sign up for the kendo ranking test," Fujino agreed after a moment of thought, thinking that having another certification wouldn't hurt.

"Great! There's a kendo ranking test on the 15th of next month. I'll notify you then."

"Understood!"

After agreeing to the kendo ranking test, Fujino went to the dojo's restroom.

He agreed partly because he wanted to get an official certification. In this society, you need credentials. Claiming to be a swordsman without proof wouldn't be believed. But with a certificate, even if you're weak, people would believe you.

As the sun set, more students gathered at the Konoha Kendo Dojo, especially after Suwa Koji became an eighth dan. However, since it was a weekday, the dojo wasn't very crowded. Fujino had the restroom to himself.

Under the shower, Fujino opened the system interface:

- **Student: Top-level; breakthrough requires 3 million yen**

- **Professional Swordsman: Top-level; breakthrough requires 3 million yen**

"I finally reached the top level for these two professions," Fujino smiled, satisfied with the double top-level status.

He then checked the system balance:

- **Current Balance: 4.96 million yen**

"4.96 million yen, huh?" Fujino murmured, "It seems there's only enough to upgrade one skill."

After some thought, he decided to upgrade the student profession.

- **Student profession breakthrough successful**

- **Student profession upgraded to University Student**

- **New profession skill acquired: University Student Trait**

"Bomb Expert breakthrough becomes Bomb Master; Student breakthrough becomes University Student... Makes sense," Fujino muttered. "But what does this University Student Trait do?"

Curious, Fujino checked the new skill:

- **University Student: Level 1 (0|500; 1 million yen)**

- **Student Discount: Level 3 (10% system discount, 10% real-world discount)**

- **Era's Calling: Level 3 (Enhances learning ability by 200%, memory ability by 100%)**

- **University Student Trait: Level 1 (Increases recovery effect by 50% during sleep, all attributes increased by 50% from 9 PM to 4 AM, food intake increased by 50% at night)**

- **Current distributable profession points: 2**

- **Total profession points: 1**

"Era's Calling and University Student Trait?" Fujino pondered. He was quite pleased with the new skills. Era's Calling seemed like an upgrade from the innate genius trait, enhancing not just learning ability but also memory. University Student Trait increased recovery during sleep and boosted attributes and food intake at night.

Overall, Fujino was very satisfied with the new additions.
