Repeating of the Past

Tyrion

Daeron invited Tyrion for lunch, near three days since arriving back to the city and since Jaime was pardoned by the King.

The Imp scratched his growing beard, still surprised that his brother was even welcomed back into the ranks of the Kingsguard. It showed him the forgiving nature of the King, a nature that he admires where others might call it weak or dimwitted.

Seeing so many notable men and women at court was shocking, he was also glad to meet Jon again after so much time had passed. And his wolf? By the Seven, you could ride that thing. The Lord of Casterly Rock thought with a wild thought, seeing some astride in battle atop a giant wolf.

It'd be something to see, and he's seen Daeron ride his dragons.

Jorah and Obara were on duty, standing outside their lieges chamber, and could kill him with their stare if they wished to.

Indeed, a great many at court weren't too happy with Jaime being brought back or being welcomed into Daeron's Kingsguard. Obara wanted his brother, and himself dead. Jorah and Barristan don't trust Jaime. As for Kovarro and Rhakaro? They don't believe someone with only one hand can protect their 'Khal', whatever it is the Dothraki believe in.

"Careful, Lannister," Obara said and opened the door, inside was the King and Ser Barristan, both were smiling and joking about something.

"Go on, Lord Commander, you can rest for the day." His grace said to the old knight, the doors closed slowly and only when it clicked shut and when he got settled in a seat that the King began to speak. "These last three days I've spoken to Jaime, Ser Barristan, and Jon Connington as well." He hummed, didn't know his brother was carrying on conversations with his grace.

"And what have you found out, Daeron? What has this soul-searching come up to?" He asked and Daeron lifted and drank from his cup, setting it back down and looking right at him.

"I must admit that I didn't believe what Lady Tarth said, I needed the full truth and nothing but the truth, I even questioned that silly alchemist about my father." He leaned back, hearing the King continue. "It was the truth, my father was as mad as the people thought or heard, hearing about how his fetish for seeing people burned led to my mother's rape and conception of my sister and me... It made me ill and ashamed." His grace shouldn't blame himself for how he and the late Princess was conceived, it was out of their control.

"Now you know, but I must ask, what will you do with those who think it was a mistake to take Jaime back into the Kingsguard?" Daeron scoffed and sipped from his cup again, taking a grape and throwing it in his mouth.

"They think I'm weak, let them. Whenever they find the courage to stand, I'll have the justification to make them sit down." Spoken like a leader who can be severe as he is kindly, the quality he'll need as King. "The wedding is tomorrow, and then after it, the forces we've gathered will march to Harrenhal where the armies of the Vale will join us in the journey North, but, I would have some matters settled before I go." He shook his head, thinking that the King shouldn't go and instead stay where it's safe.

"Are you sure this is not irresponsible, Daeron? You have many skilled generals that can lead the living to fight the dead, you can stay with your wife and await victory." Daeron shook his own head, frowning deeply and standing to his feet.

"Vaeleris and Daegon won't go without me, and we need them their fire if that is what kills the dead. And, it's my duty as Protector of the Realm, how can I let others do what I could as well." He hated that selfless characteristic in Kings, whether it was in stories or with how many times Daeron put himself at risk.

Reluctantly, he agreed. "So, what other matters is there to attend to. I doubt anything is to be done about the wedding, I'm sure we have nothing to worry about that's life-threatening." Daeron stared at him with a pensive expression, then reached for something in his pocket but held it tightly, he couldn't see it.

"There is one, here." He was shocked when the King revealed in his hand, the badge to the position of Hand of the King. "You could have refused to advise me. You could have betrayed and turned against me, but you didn't, even when it cost you the fall of your House- The deaths of your nephew, and sister, too. You remained loyal, and loyalty is what I treasure most in this world." He didn't know what to say or what to do with the offer of his grace. "You'll be in charge while I am away with the army, I also want you to begin teaching Sansa the ways of rule, Jaehaerys the Conciliator did the same with Alysanne so that is my wish." His grace added and he was still struck by the offer.

eventually, he did speak but to convince the King of his decision. "Surely there are others far more qualified for the role- Lord Randyll Tarly." His grace hummed in response but rebutted his counsel.

"The man is intelligent, but only when it comes to war and the tactics of battle... And he and his son will lead the army with me." Slightly nervous, he told the King of another more talented man.

"Jon Connington, then, he is far more loyal than I." The Lord of Griffin's Roost has personal ties with the Crown, was the king's brothers' own best friend, and was once Aery's Hand for a time... Until he was banished.

"That is true but Jon aches for home, he wishes to retire back to his homeland after the Night King is defeated." Damn it, can't there be anyone

"Then might I suggest- "

Daeron raised his right hand to silence him from continuing, "None have your intellect, or your willingness to better this country. It can only be you, Tyrion." Daeron leaned in slightly, a stare that silently asked him to not try to dissuade his call on this path. "If, when I return that you wish to retire from this life- Go back to Casterly Rock and raise children with that new bride of yours." Both himself and the King chuckled lightly.

Sighing in resignation, Tyrion leaped from his chair and put on the Hand's Pin before kneeling to the King. "Very well, then. I, Tyrion of the House Lannister and Lord of Casterly Rock, Warden of the West do hereby accept the position of Hand of the King." With that settled, Daeron rose from his chair and nodded at him.

"Thank the gods for that, then." He agreed to that, for a moment. "I want to do one more thing, as well, I mean to get married."

Sansa

The castle was bustling with energy that hasn't been seen since the wedding of Joffrey and Margaery, Sansa beamed as Mira Forrester helped her with her hair, Margaery sitting at the table with a smile, and her sister watching while sitting on the bed, at the door was Lady Brienne and her squire, Podrick Payne.

She remembers the day Daeron returned from greeting Tyrion, the Lady Tarth immediately knelt to one knee and swore her services eternally to House Stark- A command made by her late mother before her death at the Twins. She accepted it with a vow to ask no more than what is agreed upon.

Ser Jaime said that Brienne is a great warrior, Arya attested to this as she saw her defeat the Sandor Clegane in combat. She remembers the Hound, he was a fierce fighter so if Brienne could defeat him then she and her family won't ever have to feel unsafe.

"There, don't you look beautiful." She smiled at Margaery, the maiden of House Tyrell turned her eyes to look upon Arya. "Mira can do yours too, Lady Arya, it will be no trouble." She herself eyed her little sister, hoping Arya doesn't say something rude.

Like always, she did. "I'm a warrior, not a Lady." Margaery didn't seem fazed by the sharp reply, more or less amused.

"Even warrior maidens keep beautiful hair, and yours can be too if styled well." She placed a hand on Mira's hand to thank her, Gregor's daughter being another godsend during her extended time as a prisoner here and now a welcomed companion when she becomes Queen.

Rising from her vanity, she went to stroke the fabrics of her dress she'll be wearing when the wedding begins today. Her blue pools then turned to smile at the Stark cloak that her uncle Edmure had made, as he couldn't be here with him still gathering the masses of soldiers that will be marching towards Harrenhal.

Brienne noticed the cue and gestured for Podrick to leave the room for a few moments, the man said he'd go and see Lord Tyrion.

As Mira was helping her into her wedding dress, Margaery's voice called out to ask her something. "You're very quiet, today. Nervous about today?" She pondered it for a few seconds, realizing that she's hardly spoken a word since inviting Margaery and Arya to her chambers.

"I suppose I am still finding this all like a dream, as if I will wake up in my old chambers- A prisoner yet." She said and saw Mira offer her an understanding expression.

To think, that long ago she couldn't stop talking about marriage or becoming Queen, she never wanted anything more in her entire life up until the day she watched her father get executed with Ice.

The prospect of marriage soured further when she was given to Tyrion, then she got to know him as a kind, caring gentleman rather than the dwarf son of Tywin Lannister.

"It's done, Lady Stark." Stepping down from the pedestal and away from the changing curtain, Margaery beamed and clapped her hands together, Arya even offered a smile of her own and Brienne complimented her beauty.

Reaching to her neck, her eyes widened and she rushed back over to the vanity and found the wolf pendant that Daeron had made for her. She put it on and turned to face her friends and sister, a bright smile on her face. "Margaery, I couldn't be more confident about today or the years that follow, alongside Daeron." She said with a calm and determined tone.

Margaery smirked, "I daresay you have taken the first step in being a leader to this country, Sansa... You are grown, now." Yes, she is and has no fear or worry for the months to come. Daeron and her brother will defeat the undead army, they'll survive and return here.

She becomes a woman today, and will carry on everything her mother and father passed on to her own children.

Jon

Jon sighed and sat and stood outside of the throne room whilst Ser Davos, Lady Shireen, and her newest betrothed, Gendry Baratheon went inside to find their seats as the wedding is about to begin.

Looking ahead of them was the Iron Throne, the very chair that so many people both innocent and sinister lost their lives to obtain or fight for.

No, fought for would be the better word for it. His majesty won that throne back, 'I wish no more harm to come to the realm or threaten this reign or the reigns to come', Jon thought as he stifled under this heat.

"I would have advised against wearing a cloak, but you appear to be comfortable in it." He turned and saw the King, sided by Ser Jorah and Lady Obara. "I'm happy you're here, it's only right the last male Stark walks his sister down that aisle." Not the last, not until he knows if Bran is alive and dead beyond the Wall- He won't stop searching for his little brother.

"Would rather take her home, but, she seems content to be here... With you." He took a step closer to Daeron, making his guards tense up slightly with Obara tightening her grip on her spear. "Sansa and I aren't too close as I was with Robb or Arya or Bran. Yet, I will always worry for her security and safety." Daeron nodded in understanding before walking within the throne room.

He didn't mean it as a life-threatening warning, just a reminder of how far a Stark is willing to go for justice despite the lives lost doing so to make it happen.

Feeling a nose touch his hand, he turned and looked down to Ghost and immediately patted his head gently.

"We'll be going home soon, boy, I promise you." He whispered and heard the sounds of steps and turned to see Sansa, Arya, their guardian the Lady Brienne, her squire Podrick and the Lady Margaery Tyrell and Mira Forrester.

It was a moment or two, but the few conversations with the former Queen of Westeros created an attraction to her which pulls him tightly and caused a yearning desire to know her better when the dead have finally been defeated.

"Sansa, you look... " He honestly couldn't find the words, Arya chuckled and answered his subtle call for assistance.

"You look beautiful, sister, he means that." Sansa smiled gently and came to his side whilst the others went inside and found their seats at the front row of the column of tables, chairs, and food being held by the many servants.

It was a silent pause before he turned his head slightly, his arm linked around her own as they stood at the entrance of the throne room. "He would've wanted to be here, this should be him walking you down there... Not me." That insecurity made Sansa answer him sharply.

"You are Lord Stark, now... And, in a way he is here, his blood and the principles he taught are within you, I'm sorry I never saw until now." His face softened at her genuine words, it gave him the courage to conquer that insecurity and be the man his father would be proud of.

On instinct, both he and Sansa started walking towards the new High Septon and Daeron Targaryen. His grasp on her arm loosened and let go of her own when they made it, Daeron's hand extending and taking his sister to meet eye to eye for the first of many times in these next several years.

The new High Septon cleared his throat, "We gather here to cement the union of Sansa of the House Stark, and King Daeron of the House Targaryen, the third of his name. Let any who would scheme to undo them be cursed by the Seven Gods." Taking a ribbon from his book of the Seven-Pointed Star, the High Septon tied Sansa and Daeron's hands together. "Your grace, Lady Stark. Please turn and say the sacred words."

Both began, "Father, Smith, Warrior, Mother, Maiden, Crone, Stranger... I am hers/his and she/he is mine, from this day till my last days." Daeron and Sansa gently leaned forward and kissed one another, erupting cheers and claps from the guests standing in witness to the union of House Stark and Targaryen.

"Allow me to pronounce them wed, and introduce the realm to Queen Sansa Targaryen, long may she reign!" The High Septon declared to them all.

Jon smiled and clapped along with everyone, celebrating the new era that was going to begin.

Daeron

(Adult Content Warning)

The merriment and feasting, the celebrating and laughs shared neared its end as the night was nearing its zenith.

Daeron, Sansa, and the members of the Kingsguard formed and left the throne room as Daeron dismissed the traditions of 'preparing' the bride and groom for the consummation.

Stopping at the King's Chambers, Daeron opened and gestured for Sansa to follow him with hands entwined. Barristan and Kovarro volunteered to stand guard for the night, closing the door behind them right after speaking.

Finally here, after his declaration of her and tonight, he makes her his and she makes him hers as well. "Sansa... " He whispered and cupped the fiery-haired maiden cheeks who has helped him through the worst trauma a father could suffer. "I love you." He said and she didn't speak, only kissed him passionately so.

He wasn't inexperienced in the ways of this, taking the lead he aided Sansa in getting undressed and comfortable with only a thin gown to cover her body. He chuckled at how nervous she seemed and she noticed immediately, then threw a small pillow at him as he was getting his last shirt off.

He took her hand in his, leading her to sit upon the bed. "I will be as gentle with you as you desire, not rough or violently, I swear." It was her turn to cup his cheek this time and he pressed into her warm palm.

"I know, Daeron. I am ready." She slid her gown down to her waist, revealing her bodice and bosom before his purple eyes.

Helping her lean back, he got between her legs and kissed her neck and lips while pressing himself against her pelvis with his own. She reciprocated the movement, letting out a series of moans and breaths between their passion-filled kisses. He grunted and positioned his manhood before gently pushing it in, Sansa tensed from the new sensations and so was he as his muscles in his arms flexed.

Like lightning, the image of Missandei and Dany popped into his head. He knew what he needed to do and for some reason, they seemed to understand and left his mind forever. They were gone, and he needed to move on with his life.

"I love you, Daeron." He heard Sansa whisper, then closed her legs around him and he smiled while lifting her and him in a semi-sitting position ever throwing themselves into the pleasures that began overwhelming them.

An hour later, they laid covered in their furs with the hearth offering them illumination to gaze upon one another. He held her close and woke her slightly, she nuzzled him in the neck and he loved the feeling of her being so close to him.

"I already feel it, our child." Already? He smiled and hoped it was true, that she was with a child so quickly.

No, not just because he needs an heir though it is important, but the fact that having a family of his own brought him much joy. He could be a better father than his own, his son or daughter wouldn't start a war or go mad with power or paranoia.

"I will come back to you, do you hear me? I will come back to, fate won't stop me from seeing the Prince or Princess our child is going to be." He told her with such determination that left no doubt, he would return to King's Landing... And return to his family.

Finally letting unconsciousness claim him, the King and Queen of Westeros drifted off into the sweetest of dreams.

Elsewhere

"Tonight was... " Samwell and Jon looked up from the book he was reading to hear what Gilly was trying to say, unsuccessful as she was.

The former heir to Horn Hill had parted from the festivities to read into the tomes and books he borrowed from the Maester's tower, some of them were projects that he was given to complete by the Archmaester and send back when they were done- Mostly nonsensical documents that collected far too much dust and the ink faded greatly.

Thankfully, the new Lord of Winterfell and his trusted direwolf couldn't sleep and 'wished' to aid him in doing the work with him.

"This is boring, how can you be so glad doing it?" His best friend asked of him, he raised his head and would answer Jon Stark.

"Reading is a great way to pass time, and gain helpful knowledge. Here, you do this one- It's almost finished." Jon grunted and took it and began turning the pages to lesser marriages and such.

Jon was doing wonderfully until he suddenly stopped, it caused him to halt in what he was doing, and noticed a shocked expression on the Lord Stark's face.

"What's the matter?" He took the book back, then a raven flew through the window and by the rookery. "Gilly can you bring me that, please." Focusing his attention on the book, he wondered what's gotten Jon so quiet or as quiet as he usually is when doing stewards work.

Reading the passage left him in awe as well, completely surprised by the discovery of this.

'Septon Maynard, an issued marriage within Dorne and had blessed one Rhaegar, and Lyanna in matrimony'. Rhaegar, Rhaegar Targaryen? Married to Lyanna- Lyanna Stark of Winterfell.

Sam looked at Jon pointedly, then Gilly handed him a raven scroll with the iron wax emblem of House Stark binding it together.
