From a young age, Yukino Yukinoshita had always been an outstanding individual, excelling in both appearance and academics. During elementary school, her brilliance caused jealousy among her peers, leading to her being ostracized. Fortunately, with the help of her twin sister, Akino Yukinoshita, Yukino escaped unscathed, while those who bullied her received the punishment they deserved.
However, this incident caused Yukino to grow distant from others, no longer holding any affection for strangers. From then on, aside from her family, Yukino maintained a cold and aloof demeanor, exuding an aura that kept others at arm's length—a true "Ice Queen." This was how she earned the title of "Ice Cold Princess."
Yet, despite her flawless image as a "Ice Queen," Yukino Yukinoshita wasn't immune to panic when faced with an unnatural occurrence.
As she stared at the two options floating in her mind, a wave of anxiety swept over her, and her first instinct was to seek out her twin sister, Akino Yukinoshita. But just as the thought formed, she remembered that Akino's phone was currently out of service.
Unfortunately, reality didn't give her the luxury of time to think things through. As she wrestled with the decision to go search for her sister, the mechanical voice in her head echoed once more.
"Do you want to understand the meaning of life? Do you wish to truly... live?"
"Yes / No"
As the text in her mind slowly began to turn crimson, Yukino Yukinoshita knew she could no longer delay her choice. With a sigh, she mentally selected the "No" option, only to be greeted by a bitter smile.
"Just as I thought…"
The "Yes" button she had clicked on had now turned into "No," while the other option transformed into "Yes."
When faced with the supernatural, it seemed the outcome had already been decided from the start.
In a flash of light, Yukino Yukinoshita vanished from her living room, leaving the once-cozy apartment, which she shared with her twin sister, completely empty.
Three days had passed since Eriri brought Mine, Akame, and Kurome back from the Akame ga Kill world. During this time, the three of them had spent their days immersed in rigorous training, which helped them gain full mastery over their newfound strength.
Now, they could truly be considered top-tier, Level 2 Peak fighters.
After finishing breakfast, Eriri took Mine, Akame, and Kurome back to the Akame ga Kill world once again. In just three short days, their strength had transformed from that of ordinary young girls into beings who could rival the most powerful entities in this world.
At this point in time, Honest had not yet become the Prime Minister, and the previous Emperor of the Empire had not been poisoned by him—though that moment wasn't far off. The current Emperor wasn't entirely incompetent but was not a skilled ruler either. His greatest failure was not recognizing Honest for the corrupt figure that he was.
Under this Emperor's rule, the Empire had already begun to show signs of decline. Corruption, spurred on by Honest's manipulations, was spreading rapidly. Though the capital appeared peaceful on the surface, dark dealings thrived in the shadows, and most officials and nobles were synonymous with greed and decay.
Yet, the current Emperor remained oblivious to these machinations, believing that his Empire was flourishing under his reign.
The strongest beings in this world were the Super Danger Beasts and the Teigu wielders. About a thousand years ago, the Empire's founding Emperor, in order to solidify the nation's rule, used his unimaginable wealth and power to gather the world's finest artisans. They utilized legendary materials from Super Danger Beasts, rare metals like Orichalcum, and long-lost techniques to create forty-eight unique, irreplicable weapons.
These were the Teigu.
The founding Emperor was a true talent, as there were no Teigu users before him, and the Super Danger Beasts were akin to natural disasters for humanity. No one knew how he managed to hunt so many of these beasts and turn them into powerful weapons.
The creation of the Teigu helped the Empire achieve unprecedented victories. However, five hundred years ago, a massive uprising occurred, causing many Teigu to be lost to the populace or other nations. This event marked the beginning of the Empire's slow decline.
Despite this, the remaining Teigu ensured that the Empire remained the world's dominant power, rivaled only by the Western Kingdom. The Southern Islands and Northern Frozen Plains were far less developed and posed no threat to these two great nations. The Eastern Island Nations were primitive lands and not worth mentioning.
Another class of weapons, known as the Shingu, also existed. These weapons were created four hundred years after the Teigu, during the reign of an Emperor who sought to emulate his predecessor. However, the Shingu paled in comparison to the Teigu, and the Emperor, considering them a disgrace, sealed them away. As a result, the Shingu remained in the hands of the Empire and did not spread to the populace or other nations as the Teigu had.
At this point in time, the Revolutionary Army was still in its infancy, far from becoming the force depicted in the original story. But with Mine, Akame, and Kurome in the picture, the Revolutionaries would soon become irrelevant.
"Eriri-nee, what should we do now?" Mine asked eagerly, her wide eyes fixed on Eriri. She was already excited to change the fate of the Empire.
Akame and Kurome, on the other hand, were far calmer. They only sought to support Mine in achieving her goals, caring little about the Empire's fate.
The three girls were still very young, without the mature thoughts or strong personalities of someone like Myne from Ascendance of a Bookworm, who had the memories and experiences of a previous life. As a result, they were highly dependent on Eriri.
"Mine, if you want to change the fate of the Empire, you'll need allies. Don't you think it's time to gather some?" Eriri gently nudged her.
This time, she didn't plan to intervene directly unless the three of them were in danger. She wanted to guide them toward thinking and acting for themselves.
"Right! Eriri-nee, you're right! In the vision of the future, that girl named Sheele seems like a good person to bring to our side. Oh, and also Leone, Chelsea, and Najenda," Mine said excitedly.
"Yeah, I think that's a good idea," Akame nodded in agreement. Although she didn't have deep feelings for the girls from the future vision, she recognized their talents.
Standing next to Akame, Kurome chimed in, "In that case, can't we also bring Esdeath over to our side? She's not yet the General of the Empire, right?"
At the mention of Esdeath, both Mine and Akame furrowed their brows. The image of Esdeath from the future vision lingered in their minds—her cruelty toward enemies and her insatiable desire for battle. But they also saw Esdeath's kindness toward her subordinates and ordinary citizens.
After a moment, both girls slowly relaxed their frowns.
"I agree. Esdeath could be a trustworthy ally," Mine concluded.
Akame nodded as well. While their current strength rivaled Esdeath's future self, having her as an ally would be a significant asset.
Eriri, watching the conversation unfold, smiled with satisfaction, pleased with how the girls were making their own decisions.
"Your first task, then, is to destroy the Empire's assassination unit."
"Yes!" the three girls responded in unison to Eriri's command.
The Empire's assassination unit was a familiar name to Akame and Kurome. Just three days ago, they had narrowly avoided being sold to this very unit, and it was the origin of the tragedy that would have befallen them in the future. There was no hesitation in their desire to destroy it.
The group quickly made their way to a hidden base nestled deep within a forest, known as the Gifnora Forest. This vast forest was filled with powerful Danger Beasts, and it served as a proving ground for the Empire's assassination unit. Those who survived its trials would become elite members, but the success rate was less than one in ten.
Upon arriving at the base, they saw over a hundred young children, boys and girls around the same age as Mine, Akame, and Kurome, undergoing a brutal training regimen. The oldest of these children was no more than six or seven years old. They had all been bought by the assassination unit from various towns and cities within the Empire.
Eriri, Mine, Akame, and Kurome boldly walked into the heart of the assassination unit's base, quickly attracting the attention of hidden assassins stationed throughout the area.
"Damn it, how did they get in here? What happened to the lookouts?" one of the assassins cursed under his breath.
This base was heavily monitored, with surveillance spanning several kilometers. It should have been impossible for anyone to enter unnoticed. Furthermore, the striking appearance of Eriri and the three girls, especially Eriri's unparalleled beauty and their refined clothing, made it impossible for the guards to dismiss their presence.
Within minutes, several adult assassins had surrounded Eriri and her group, while the commotion also drew the attention of the children in the central training area. The children briefly glanced at the newcomers but were quickly reprimanded by their trainers, resulting in screams and cries of pain.
The trainers of the assassination unit treated these children as nothing more than disposable tools. To them, these hundred children were like unpolished killing instruments, and only those successfully sharpened would be allowed to stay. The rest would be discarded.
Witnessing this cruel scene made Eriri frown in disapproval, while Mine, Akame, and Kurome wore expressions of anger. Akame and Kurome, in particular, felt a chill run down their spines. If Eriri hadn't rescued them, they would have been among those hundred children, subjected to this inhumane treatment.
"Mine, Akame, Kurome, do as you please. There's no need to worry about the consequences," Eriri instructed calmly.
The three girls, already prepared to act, nodded in response. With a flick of their wrists, they retrieved their weapons from the storage rings hanging around their necks.
Each of the three girls, Mine, Akame, and Kurome, wore a very ornate ring on their fingers. These rings were specially crafted by Eriri, and inside them was a vast space large enough to store several Earths.
