Strenuous Analysis

Oka finally snapped awake and was about to say his piece when a whistle startled them.

The enemy had the ball, and taking the chance they were distracted, they quickly got into action.

Aoi stayed while Oka positioned himself.

The football field was wide, and the players were scattered.

Some guarded the opponent they wanted to put pressure on, and some were casually watching from the side, waiting for the right moment to act.

Aoi was acting similar to them.

He remained in his position since he was in the middle on the enemy side while observing the ball being dribbled by his enemy, going further on their side.

He casually swept his gaze, noting each player's position, as well as their intention, through their body movements and facial expressions.

'It's not really easy, it seems.'

Aoi smiled bitterly.

His brain worked profusely, imprinting his analysis slowly strained his mind.

He closed his eyes, inhaled deeply, and exhaled for a bit longer.

'My mind can't possibly memorize all the players' positions. I could barely remember a player's position, space, intention, and whatever, let alone tens of them.

I can only focus one at a time.'

What Aoi found strenuous to think was that he kept formulating analyses that might occur in the future.

The Vision system had focused only on what his vision could cover, aiding in his analysis process that would decide his future decision.

Hence, what he could only perform right now was wait for the chance.

He instantly related football to the game of chess.

Since he could still not see the formula for checkmate, he could only put his pieces in a better position, hoping for the chance to finally peer through the enemy's flaws and successfully conquer them with calculated moves.

Right now, his eyes moved excessively, judging the distance between his enemy and his teammates, reading the game by watching the ball and the players surrounding it.

Finally, when the ball was in Kaga's position, at any time, a chip pass would come right at them if Kaga failed.

'He will fail, I'm sure of it.'

Aoi was not idle earlier after he was finished dealing with the system.

Similar to Nakahara, he scrutinized each of the players' movements, their skills, their understanding of the football, as well as their style of playing.

The only defender that was making his appearance was the center back of Kaga's team, which was the bald player with a calm temperament Oka pointed at earlier.

He adapted quickly, stopping Oka's further attempts to score a goal.

Furthermore, he had a good vision too, and communication to which he ordered his fellow defenders with just a swing of his arm and subtle signs through his eyes and head.

His teammates seemed to have grasped his intention and thus not only successfully obstructed Oka, the other winger too, who easily lost his composure once he received pressure from the defenders.

In addition, the fact that Oka was successfully isolated by the bald defender, he was easily shaken, inevitably losing the ball and for the enemy to make a counter.

However, it was not only Kaga's team who had such a reliable defender.

The center back of Oka had been successfully stopping Kaga, too.

Though, he was still adapting to Kaga's style of playing.

Compared to Oka, who could be stopped with brute force, for he seemed to be more agile and speedy, possessing incredible dribbling skills, Kaga was more a manipulative type of striker.

He would not hesitate to pass the ball if it would mean creating a space for himself, giving room for him to think and take a breath, and eventually forcing him to create a moment where he could goal.

It would have been fine if the center-back would only defend two wingers, but there was pressure for midfielders to pass through the breach of the defenders too, thus ultimately pressurizing the defenders, causing Kaga to finally be free of their restrictions.

Oka tried the same method once, but the bald player, as always, seemed to be one step ahead before the midfielders could pressurize them.

Oka's center-back player, who was taller and possessing an eccentric personality with a curly right eyebrow, was now locked onto Kaga.

He ignored the midfielders, each was being defended by defenders.

Kaga was surprised to see the curly eyebrow focusing on him - running at him - but he did not mind, passing his eyes through him and observing the position of each of the players.

The other winger was dribbling, smiling in glee, mischievously staring at his opponent, gazing intently at the ball.

Slight movement of his right leg would startle the opponent, and, as a result, he played with him more.

His dribble was above average, better, at least, a bit than Kaga.

However, he lacked courage as a striker, easily agitated once other defenders ran to pressurize him.

Hence, his vision would instantly dwindle, making a hasty decision.

Just leaving his gaze on the opponent would be careless of him, so he locked his eyes on his opponent, dribbling to pass through him.

His attempt was successful due to the feint, but then again, he was only momentarily free as the defender leaped towards him at his back.

So, as he swiftly dashed forward, he swept his gaze to his right side, for he was on the further left side of the football field, and was startled to see the midfielders - his fellow teammates - on the same line as him watching him waiting to pass them the ball.

However, he knew they would quickly lose it since their partner was also gazing intently at him.

As always, he looked for Kaga and hesitated to see the curly right eyebrow restraining him.

However, the curly right eyebrow had his back on him, so he knew he could successfully pass it to Kaga, who was intently staring at him.

He quickly passed the ball on the deepest right, flying in mid-air, landing and rolling deeper, yet the ball needed more power to reach Kaga's side, as it slowly came to a halt near the right curly eyebrow than Kaga on the other side.

Kaga immediately went to catch it.

However, the curly right eyebrow grinned and obstructed Kaga like a wall, preventing him from receiving the ball, and successfully snatched it.

Kaga gritted his teeth, frustrated by the lack of presence of mind of his fellow teammates, helplessly watching the ball being snatched by the curly right eyebrow, performing a chip pass, causing his enemy to execute their counterattack.

It was not that Kaga was slower than the curly right eyebrow. It was more like the curly right eyebrow was aware of it.

The position of the ball was farther than Kaga, and to catch it, he needed to push the curly right eyebrow away while bolting towards the ball, which he failed.

As a result, they lost possession of the ball, and it was now time for Oka and Aoi to attempt to score a goal…
