Chapter 1: Three Wishes

### Chapter 1: Three Wishes

"I can grant you three wishes!"

Hearing this solemn and emotionless statement, Luo Jun looked somewhat puzzled at the old man standing before him.

This was an elderly man with white hair and beard, exuding an indescribable aura of dignity and authority at first glance.

"Who are you?" Luo Jun blinked.

"I can grant you three wishes!" The old man repeated mechanically.

Luo Jun looked around. It was pitch dark. He didn't remember when he came here or how the old man appeared.

"Where is this? Who are you? Why can you grant my wishes?"

"I can grant you three wishes!" The old man repeated again. He seemed unable to say anything else.

Should he... try making a wish?

Luo Jun thought for a moment and tentatively said, "Then... make me a billionaire!"

This time, the old man finally didn't repeat himself. Instead, he took out two ten-sided dice, one black and one white, and threw them. As the dice settled, the black one showed three and the white one showed six.

"Final points: 36. Wish difficulty: 50. Sorry, this wish failed."

"I can grant you two wishes!"

"That used up one wish? Are you kidding me?"

Luo Jun was so angry he almost jumped up, but the old man remained expressionless.

"I can grant you two wishes!"

"Alright..." Luo Jun calmed himself. "So I need to roll over fifty points, right?"

Thinking this, his expression became more daring.

"For my second wish, forget the money. Give me amazing luck with women!"

The old man took out the two dice again and threw them. As they spun slower and slower, the white one showed five and the black one... six!

"Haha, 65 points! This one succeeded, right?"

Luo Jun almost jumped up, but the old man said:

"Final points: 65. Wish difficulty: 78. Sorry, this wish failed."

"I can grant you one wish!"

...

"I suspect you're mocking me... Wanting better luck with women is harder than becoming a billionaire?"

Luo Jun was furious. He pointed at the old man:

"Do you really think you're a genie? If you want to grant wishes, do it straightforwardly. Throwing those two dice over and over, if you can't do it, just give them to me!"

The old man listened, then picked up the dice and threw them again. This time, both the black and white dice settled on zero!

"What does that mean?"

Luo Jun was stunned: "I haven't even made a wish yet! Why did you throw them? And what do two zeroes mean? No chance at all?"

"Final points: 100. Wish difficulty: 100. Congratulations, this wish is granted!"

The old man looked at Luo Jun, raised his hand to summon the dice back, and tossed them to him: "The Destiny Dice are yours now!"

The dice flew directly towards Luo Jun and merged into his head, startling him so much he fell to the ground.

"Ahhhhh!!!"

Luo Jun kicked out with his right leg, hitting the corner of the desk with a "bang". A sharp pain shot through his leg, and he instinctively bent down to rub it.

"Hahahahaha..."

Laughter erupted around him.

Luo Jun, still rubbing his leg, looked around.

Rows of desks and chairs, young and energetic faces, all staring at him!

"Luo Jun!"

A stern voice came from the podium: "Daydreaming again?"

"Huh... huh?"

Luo Jun was still immersed in the strange dream. He blinked, rubbed his dizzy head, and saw the familiar surroundings.

A familiar classroom, a stern teacher, still the ordinary high school class...

"Huh what?" Teacher Liu slapped the desk:

"It's almost the college entrance exam, and you're still daydreaming? Stand outside and come back when you're clear-headed!!"

Luo Jun stood up dazedly, confused, and hobbled out of the classroom with his injured leg, bumping into the doorframe on the way out, eliciting more laughter from the class.

Standing in the corridor, Luo Jun was bewildered, still thinking about the recent dream.

Three wishes? Destiny Dice? What were those things? Had he been reading too many novels lately?

But the dream felt so real. Even now, he could remember the old man's beard in detail... But strangely, his face seemed both clear and fuzzy, hard to recall...

Feeling confused, Luo Jun leaned his head against the wall, listening to Teacher Liu's lecture from the classroom and looking out at the distant and towering Ningyuan Mountain in the western part of the city.

This was Ningdong City's Second High School, the top school in the city. Only the best students from each middle school could get in, and parents would spare no expense for their children's grades. The competition here was intense.

Luo Jun, however, was an exception among these top students.

First, he wasn't particularly good at studying.

Second, he had no parents.

Yes, Luo Jun was an orphan. His parents died in an accident when he was six.

How they died, Luo Jun couldn't remember clearly. His last memory was the family eating at a restaurant near their home. When he woke up, his parents were gone, and he was severely injured, spending a long time in the hospital. He still had a thin scar on his nose, making him look fiercer than his peers.

News reports later said that the restaurant had a gas explosion, causing multiple deaths, with Luo Jun being the only survivor.

He was able to attend Second High School because of his orphan status, which met the criteria for special admissions that year. He often joked that without the accident, he wouldn't have been able to get in with his grades.

Strange, why am I thinking about this...

Luo Jun shook his head. Just then, his phone buzzed with a payment notification. Checking it, he saw it was this month's allowance.

After his parents died, Luo Jun was raised by his grandfather, but he passed away when Luo Jun started high school. Since then, Luo Jun had received community assistance, getting a monthly allowance of just over a thousand yuan, enough for basic living expenses.

Wait, why is there an extra two hundred?

Noticing the unusual amount, Luo Jun checked the allowance details and found a two hundred yuan birthday bonus.

Almost forgot, today is my birthday!

Should I treat myself?

Since his grandfather's passing, no one celebrated his birthday, but he still kept the tradition. Usually, he'd buy himself something nice to eat. This year, he thought of doing something different.

A new movie he'd been looking forward to was out. Why not see a movie?

Luo Jun opened the ticketing website and quickly found his target, "Wild Hunt," for the 6:30 show, seat 9 in row 6. Confirmed...

"Ring ring ring..."

The bell rang suddenly, and as the teacher announced the end of class, the quickest students had already packed their bags and rushed out!

"Ouch!"

Distracted by booking his ticket, Luo Jun was bumped by someone rushing out.

"Sorry!"

Leaving just that, the student dashed out of the corridor with his bag...

Luo Jun shrugged. Such a minor accident wouldn't spoil his good mood for the movie.

Having selected his seat, he proceeded to payment...

"Huh? Seventy-five? That expensive?"

Seeing the successful payment screen, Luo Jun frowned. That was enough for two tickets!

Hastily returning to the seat selection page, he saw two highlighted seats...

"Damn, got bumped and accidentally bought an extra ticket..." Luo Jun slapped his forehead:

"And they aren't even together!"

He couldn't find a way to refund the extra ticket. Seventy-five yuan was no small amount for a poor student... It pained him.

Feeling dejected, Luo Jun walked back to the classroom, thinking about how to transfer the extra ticket.

The classroom was noisy as students packed up. Even though it was a critical time before the college entrance exam, few students stayed for self-study. Most had private tutors for last-minute prep, more effective than studying at school.

Of course, Luo Jun was an exception. He couldn't afford tutors and didn't want to stay for self-study...

Walking past his classmates, he heard a familiar line:

"I am the strongest hunter... Ling Yao!"

This was... a line from the "Wild Hunt" trailer! A fellow fan? A potential buyer for the ticket?

Excited, Luo Jun turned and saw a beautiful girl with a high ponytail, engrossed in the movie trailer on her phone.

Ling Xin? She likes this movie too?

Why not sell her the ticket...

Seeing Ling Xin's beautiful profile, Luo Jun couldn't help but have a thought.

Inviting her to go together might... Forget it, that's too much...

"Ding!"

A strange notification interrupted Luo Jun's thoughts.

"Detected a significant event with at least double the normal success rate. Do you want to use the Destiny Dice?"
